Isn't it a bit cheap to ding narration in a Noir videogame? Narration is kind of a staple of that type of story telling. Also, the crazy dude in the apartment is from previous games. And the people who live there probably learn to stay out of shit after the last time Max had a firefight in the apartment complex.
In the first game Max lives in New York, I think the bronx. In the third game he lives in New Jersey. The crazy dude isn't from a previous game and the previous games didn't take place in New Jersey.
The NY Italian Mafia plot never have conclusion. The Panama Plot doesn't have much sense. But even with this thing and many others....this is a fucking great game.
Max escaped New York to get away from the mafia. That's the sole reason he went to Brazil. They are still looking for Max, so he won't be able to return in the near future.
The Panama Plot ( flashback) shows that Victoria’s been trying to get money for some time it highlights the reason why he goes after his older brother and how he uses his younger brother to get the money so his hands ( Victor’s) is clean, Victor uses Paseo as another guy to help him as explained by Wilson De Siva later in the last two to three chapters and has Max as the fall in case anything wrong happens. The flash back’s in New York explains what had a happened to Max after the second game and why he is in Brazil to start this game.

Not that the other sins dont make up for it.
the part i dislike the most was being unable to skip cutscenes in this game. yes you can skip after a while, but wanting to replay the game multiple times on different difficulties made it payne-ful to want to replay again.
@crankycarrot0265 having to wait for curscenes that were unskippable and in some cases felt longer than the actual game play? Yes that is a reason. Especially when it's a small transition. Multiple playthroughs become hard when you are watching a movie every rime instead of just being able to actually play.
Seriously, they were something to look at while the game loaded it's next section. Resident Evil (OG edition) did the same thing with slowly opening doors.
Normally I would play arcade mode since most intro cutscenes are skipped. Plus you also have the blessing of being able to choose what skin you want for Max. But sometimes you just don't want to play with an unnecessary score UI hogging the screen.
@@Smiley0.1 never tried the arcade mode because i thought it would be the same haha. but good to know. i just assumed it was a hardware limitation, that it just didnt fully load so you couldnt skip. but even on the pc its the same issue.

The whole slow down time bit, I think those injections in the first game were actually lethal doses of valkyrine, hence insane body count, true aim and lightspeed reflexes.
Not at all, the closest to V he got was having his drink spiked by Mona Sax at the end of the boss fight in the first part. Which we find out was just a sedative because he passes out and ends up in a nightmare sequence that we revisit several times due to his mind trying to coup with the loss of his family... If it was V he'd have gone crazy. The only drugs he takes are pain meds that's it. He never used V.... @@Guile_The_Exile you surely didn't play the game and only watch some of it on TH-cam, if you did then did you forgot that Nicole give max LETHAL dosage of V at the start of Part 3?
I honestly think the complete and utter confusion drives the plot, instead of hindering it. There's so much going on, and Max isn't following anything because he's a completely broken man who spent most of the last years drinking and addicted to painkillers. Everything is distorted and confusing because that's how Max feels. If it were earlier, he'd have thought out what was happening and escaped the plot, or at least understood what was going on. He is, however, nothing but a killer. Not a smart one, not a thinking one, just a dumb killer who tries to see right from wrong but ultimately falls into the same constant traps. The player is just as confused as he is. Not going by that interpretation, it's not a very good plot. The rest of the game is really tight though.

Well as an outsider, I’m not a fan of the other MP games because I have never played them before yet. I do like the game, but there are still problems like the movement controls being too slow or delaying after using the slow mo, which is a bad thing since you’ll be taking bullets in between the time your slow mo deactivates and the time you take cover next to an area where you can clearly press X to take cover. Same goes for the combat roll, and then there Is a lot wrong with the story too, but this dude already point those flaws out. The only things i feel the need to point out is how Max kinda just makes random decisions that seem to just work almost all the time for some reason, and also what’s the point of max being there once the main girl we have to save dies and then we save the useless pregnant lady? Why did they try to play off pathos as if he was trying to betray you, yet this barely even matters once he comes back and the “betrayal” was so little that it might as well just be a mistake on his part. This game isn’t bad, but it’s not perfect. Even as someone who didn’t play the other games I can admit that.
@@Guile_The_Exile Just about any game or movie out there that has switched studios between games or movies usually ends up different than anticipated, so I would say it most definitely validates it. Not saying that makes the game better or worse, but you can’t expect a different team to go the same route that the prior team did. Even if they look at prior games, which they may not, that doesn’t mean they’re going to want to follow it. In fact, from what I’ve heard there have been some switches in development that totally ruined the original plans for movies and games alike. A change in the team in charge of development is 9 times out of 10 going to change how the game turns out

Just like everyone else", oh you mean like how Adam has killed or threatened to kill more than a dozen people up until that point, including in the very first episode?

Well, I'll help out with the hand holding....if only because I was impressed by the use of a reference I didn't already know.... L'esprit de l'escalier This name for the phenomenon comes from French encyclopedist and philosopher Denis Diderot's description of such a situation in his Paradoxe sur le comédien.[1] During a dinner at the home of statesman Jacques Necker, a remark was made to Diderot which left him speechless at the time, because, he explains, "l’homme sensible, comme moi, tout entier à ce qu’on lui objecte, perd la tête et ne se retrouve qu’au bas de l’escalier" ("a sensitive man, such as myself, overwhelmed by the argument levelled against him, becomes confused and can only think clearly again [when he reaches] the bottom of the stairs"). In this case, “the bottom of the stairs” refers to the architecture of the kind of hôtel particulier or mansion to which Diderot had been invited. In such houses, the reception rooms were on the étage noble, one floor above the ground floor.[2] To have reached the bottom of the stairs means to have definitively left the gathering. You're welcome.
This thing took me out: we have the visual effect when max is under effect, but the effect is also present when he stoped. Dus when he uses the drugs again, the visual effects have no narration reason to be anymore, yet it's always there.
The game itself was very fun to play but the story, especially compared to the first two games, was really bad. This is because Sam Lake who wrote the first two games didn't write for the third one. I was really hoping to see more flashbacks and get a clearer picture of what happened after the second game and what happened to Mona. Did she survive or was her death the canon ending?

Brazilian police does not kill innocent poor. It turns out that in Brazil, people have a nasty habit of defending bandits. Here the police is treated as a villain, if it goes up in the slums to arrest traffickers. To undo the shit that operates in this country. For people the scoundrels of the bandits are treated as victims of society. It has politicians who defend these criminals. People in slums are made of poor wretches who have not even where drop dead for people to have pity on them. They defend the criminals who command and provide them drugs. They do not like the police because the police enter it in the slums just to arrest the traffickers.
The crazy dude isn't from a previous game and the previous games didn't take place in New Jersey.
no they did you forget nj and nyc is right arcoss the river
The storyline is kinda derpy but this game contains some of the most beautifully choreographed gunfights I've seen in a videogame.
very true
Eric Rhodes facts
No way man this story is excelent this game is excelent and max payne continued excelent and awesome
Care to explain?
I've seen better gunfights... In almost any video games. Max Payne 3 doesnt offer anything special
@@rageagaintstheNWO Which didn't make sense to begin with.
Why would he pussy out against 1 fat Italian godfather when he previously erased entire Mafia families?

"That's twice now Da Silva has shown up at the right place without knowing any whereabouts about Max's location" I'm pretty sure if I knew Max and wanted to go to him, all i'd have to do is listen for the gunshots and follow the trail of dead bodies. Don't know what you're talking about
Da Silva was obviously following him that's why he always turns up
Kinda sounds like how Elena found Nate in uncharted 4.she said she listened for the gunshots
That's how you find Max Payne. Police always found him following a spectacular trail of dead criminals stretched through the whole city.
But at that point in the chapter, Max hasn't gotten into combat yet, there is no trail yet. That happens immediately after Da Silva gives Max a gun.
@@adowner7298 Kinda hard to miss a white bald dude wearing a hawaiian shirt in brazilian favelas

Also, "that's racist" only makes sense when it's unintentionally racist. Not when the game is riddled in swears and intentional racist slurs.
Also, the alarm clock on the boat goes off because of a disruption in the electricity.
Not that the other sins dont make up for it.
the part i dislike the most was being unable to skip cutscenes in this game. yes you can skip after a while, but wanting to replay the game multiple times on different difficulties made it payne-ful to want to replay again.
Load times = reason.
Still Max Payne 3 restored my trust in sequels of older games.

A fun game to play. But too many times I kept saying to myself, "This just doesn't feel like Max Payne."
Amen to that. But it is. Max has changed, that's all. He's a human like everybody else.

@@nathanluz1218 Well Max also says he was never a Brazilian.
when he said "where are all the people"? probably running from the gunfire.

A change in the team in charge of development is 9 times out of 10 going to change how the game turns out

l'esprit de l'escalier is a french term for thinking of a response too late.
5:26 bro☠..after that cutscene, you literally can see that Marcelo is running to the exit(rooftop) to meet Passos. He managed to get away from the bad guys after that cutscene, and after that there is the "Epic" moment when Max jumped from the window and shot the bad guys. Think before you speak☠
Well, I'll help out with the hand holding....if only because I was impressed by the use of a reference I didn't already know....
L'esprit de l'escalier
This name for the phenomenon comes from French encyclopedist and philosopher Denis Diderot's description of such a situation in his Paradoxe sur le comédien.[1] During a dinner at the home of statesman Jacques Necker, a remark was made to Diderot which left him speechless at the time, because, he explains, "l’homme sensible, comme moi, tout entier à ce qu’on lui objecte, perd la tête et ne se retrouve qu’au bas de l’escalier"
("a sensitive man, such as myself, overwhelmed by the argument levelled
against him, becomes confused and can only think clearly again [when he
reaches] the bottom of the stairs").
You're welcome.
thx

This thing took me out: we have the visual effect when max is under effect, but the effect is also present when he stoped. Dus when he uses the drugs again, the visual effects have no narration reason to be anymore, yet it's always there.
The game itself was very fun to play but the story, especially compared to the first two games, was really bad. This is because Sam Lake who wrote the first two games didn't write for the third one. I was really hoping to see more flashbacks and get a clearer picture of what happened after the second game and what happened to Mona. Did she survive or was her death the canon ending?
Her death was the Canon ending.

Max having an Auto 9mm during the cutscene at the end of the first level of Nova Esperança even though that gun is no where to be seen in the entire level [Again, I checked] (Ding: 6)
Same scene in a different camera angle...Max’s Auto 9mm changes into the 1911 Da Silva gave him (Ding: 7)

Speaking of the shotgun, Max has it even if the player doesn’t have it (Ding: 10)
When Max gets disarmed by the thugs when he got held at machete point, his assault rifle will always be a FAL and his sidearm with always be a PT92, regardless if the player has those or not (Ding: 11)
When Max steals a PT92 from Milo Rego after killing him with his own machete, the PT92 was still in Milo’s holster even though Max took it (Ding: 12)
When Max and Giovanna were hiding in the gutter after Max killed Milo, the PT92 Max stole from him was not in any of his holsters (Ding: 13)
When a bad guy cornered Giovanna before the bus shootout he had a Micro 9mm in his hand but when Max picks up the gun after killing him, it changes to an M10 (Ding: 14)
After the bus shootout, Max picks up an assault rifle even though we have no idea how it got there (Ding: 15)

Max put a DIY suppressor on a 1911 in the abandoned hotel level in the first cutscene but during gameplay it changes to a PT92 (Ding: 20)
At the UFE Station, Max’s gun changes to a PT92 when he goes through the security door to Becker’s office for a second...You know where I’m going with this...the PT92 is no where to be found in the level (Ding: 21)
At the airport when Max meets the Ex-cop one last time, he will always point a 1911 at him, no matter if the player has it on them or not (Ding: 22)
Max’s Assault Rifle during the cutscene in the final level disappears when he gets Becker’s attention (Ding: 23)
And during some cutscenes when Max has an assault rifle or shotgun in his possession, they often disappear and reappear when you take control of him again or they just straight up disappear meaning you have to grab another one (Ding: 24)
And when Max starts the level with a single weapon, the gun takes up the left slot but when Max picks up another one and takes up the right slot, he will always take the weapon out of the right slot before cutscenes when you are using an assault rifle...so shouldn’t his first weapon take up the right slot if he always takes out the weapon in the right slot before a cutscene, idk...it just makes more sense if he does that in my view (Ding: 25)
All of Max’s guns mostly have extended clips during a handful of cutscenes but during gameplay they change back to normal clips [That is unless you have the Golden Gun settings set to ‘On’] (Ding: 26)

But the police is received shots, and when retaliates and kills a drug dealer or a junkie any, he invent a lot of nonsense to incriminate the police. But the Brazilian police are the heroes.
