    Thanks to you mate, I've just fixed my daughter's Air, which has been sticking for a year. Kudos to you for a very lucid and easy to follow video!

    Great! Thank you so much, this finally fixed my erratic trackpad!
    Here's my little improvement: To adjust the trackpad right, I put a sheet of paper through the gaps of all 4 edges, then finally fix the screws and then (of course) remove the paper. Seems like the trackpad works best when it doesn't touch the case at all.

    Excellent guide. My trackpad didn't respond to clicks before I used your guide and now it does. Thank you!

    Thank you!!! I just fixed my trackpad and saved myself a ton vs bringing it into the Apple store!
    **** Keyboard ribbon cable on reassembly is a bit tricky, dont get frustrated, once I had part of the blue edge of the ribbon in I rotated my computer and gentled worked in the other side and brought down the clamp with the spudger. You will definitely need two hands for this. 1 to hold the ribbon up and 1 to use your tweezers to guide the ribbon into the connector.
    ****Lastly don't forget to test that your trackpad is clicking normally ( and to your desired tightness) after you adjust your set screw, before you put your battery back in! The set screw is very precise and a fraction of a turn to the right or left will either tighten or loosen your trackpads ability to click.

    Great video. My probem was fan coming on, and HWSensors app showed trackpad not reporting temperatures. Computer had been left out in the rain! I was planning to swap the trackpad with one from another similar but dead mac. However, the trackpad data connecor was dirty with black gunk. Cleaned with ethyl alcohol and cotton bud. Back together. Good as new. Did not even have to pull the second more difficult connector apart.

      I had the same problem until I saw this video. I looked at multiple videos but the shorter videos only show the removal of the cable, they don't show how to insert it back.

    I want to use macbook trackpad independently with thinkpad. Cause apple has the best trackpad, the thinkpad has the best trackpad layout(with two physical button which I love a lot).

    Hi. Thanks for the video. I followed your instructions closely. Unfortunately the macbook air (2010) won't power on now. Any ideas? I've ordered a new trackpad but am not sure if it would keep the computer from powering up. Thanks.

    • @Adamant_IT
      @Adamant_IT  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard to know if anything was damaged - however keep in mind that MBAs can take a while to come back on after an SMC reset, which happens when you disconnect battery and the charger. So try hooking it all back up, wait a minute, press the power button, wait another minute, just to make absolutely certain that it's not just recovering from an SMC reset.

  • @megang3749

    So I watched this video until I felt comfortable enough to do it myself and while I waited for the parts to come in. It was going beautifully until I got to the trackpad and the screwdriver I ordered didn't fit the screws. Then I tried to just put in the new battery I got and the connection cable from the battery to the rest of the computer is about an inch too far to the right. FML. I almost cried. Second time's the charm, right?

  • @BlaGGah

    Hey Adam, thanks for this video. I have a 2014 13inch Macbook air with loose hinges and trackpad isn't clicky at all. Can I follow this tutorial to try and fix the trackpad? What do you recommend for the loose hinges?

    • @Adamant_IT
      @Adamant_IT  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea this is a good place to start for the trackpad. When you remove the trackpad, there'll be a tactile button on the bottom, which is the 'clicker'.
      If that's not clicking, you'll need to replace the trackpad. You might be able to fix it by adjusting the click-weight screw if the clicker does still work though.
      And check LFC#62 for how to service the hinges!

    • @BlaGGah
      @BlaGGah 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adamant IT Thanks for reaching out. When you said to check LFC #62, what are you referring to?

    If I hold my finger on my trackpad on MacBook Air, the cursor does these glitchy things? I can't click or obtain with it any movement.

    Hi, after replacing my A1370 MBA Logic board, I've experienced weird cursor behavior and movement when the laptop is connected to AC. Seems like theres a ground that might have been compromised in AV plug

    If the battery is warped, of course the track pad is going to have issues. I called the MacStore and this is what they told me.

  • @bethowen7944
    @bethowen7944 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks, but the MacBook Pro Retina trackpad repair IS different than the Air. Please do one with a Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014. I can move my mouse with precision, and if I push hard, I can imitate a "click", but it really doesn't click. I think I pushed too hard on the pad when I was cleaning it. BTW - I do not have the ForceClick model. - I'm more concerned with purchasing the correct tools. Could you also do a "Best Tools to Use" video? I'd hate to purchase cheap ones and have them strip.- Thank you! Love your accent BTW.

      Trackpad and trackpad cable is the first place to look, as the keyboard connects via the trackpad.

    Hallo sir,
    I have a question, my trackpad is not responding & being hot when I turn on the macbook.
    Is that mean my keyboard was broken? Is that possible to fix with your method?
    Thank you

    • @Adamant_IT
      @Adamant_IT  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      H'mm... I've never encountered a trackpad that heats up before. If it's actually getting hot, then something on it must have failed. You can use this video as a guide to replace it, yes.

    If these are glass how come they always wear out in the middle and go shiny, they can't be glass.

    • @Adamant_IT
      @Adamant_IT  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glass trackpad is the Apple branding for it. I'm not sure if it's actually glass or not, but the matte finish of glass can still wear down over time.
