Good evening Mr O'Leary another very good walk through, of info, plus i like those grab rails perfect of any of my passengers to grab on to for the race track tools required most definity one sick bowl and one crash helmet ah take it easy have a good weekend 😎👍
Great tips always. I owned a 2011 MB E class, only had the basic TMC with the yellow and red cars on screen to show Traffic Jams. Recently I bought a 2020 version with a sat nav subscripion expired. A question for you all, so I only have the fm/dab tmc signal. the nav-screen indicates 'TMC' reception but does not show any Taffiic jams , red/green lines on the screen. Is this normal, even dealer don't seem to know. Any suggestions more than welcome! 😃😃✌🏻✌🏻
Thank you! TMC just stands for Traffic Message Control, this is the one where you can turn it on via Radio settings. It allows the radio stations to interrupt your music and give you a traffic report. TMC however does not do anything with the Sat nav map or the route programmed in. For that you’ll need to subscribe to live traffic information on the Mercedes me store 👍🏼 Or use Apple CarPlay / Android Auto if you have it. Live traffic is free on there 👍🏼
Informative as always. Thank you. I noticed at one point after purchasing, I could purchase Sat Nav from the MercedesMe store but it is no longer available as I am trying to add. Any insight when they may be adding this purchasing option back to the MercedesMe store? Thanks a ton.
Ah awesome! Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! Sadly no you’ll have to ask Mercedes staff on that one. I’m sure that all models of Mercedes in the UK have Sat nav now so I presume you’re based somewhere else? I’ve not seen one without nav but I have heard it varies round the world. @@npoleary people have been asking all over reddit why the purchase option disappeared. Must be United States. I talked to MB Support and they stated it will be back for additional purchase hopefully within a week.
Updates could be more frequent. Also, Mercedes should allow users to customise UI, choose different backgrounds etc. Finally map service should be free
Free map updates is sadly an unrealistic option - car manufacturers are moving to a Services based system, especially the top end manufacturers. This is where you have to pay for extra items on your car (e.g. greater rear wheel stearing on the EQS, extra driving modes on Teslas, etc.). I first got an inbuilt Satnav in my Renault Espace in 2002, and you had to pay for updates to that.
You have 3 year free map updates and live traffic, in the near future (Its starting from this production period onwards, but its depending on the model) all models are getting 7 year free map updates and live traffic. Atleast for Europe that is.
Thanks for this video. Unfortunately "Automatic" is a default option in new cars. Should be "After asking". It's so confusing. I experienced it just yesterday while travelling. Could you please explain what "Eco" mode means?
I don't seem to have the Dynamic Route Guidance settings on my satnav either; even though my 2022 EQB 300 AMG is quite 'maxed out' on extras. That is to say, the satnav will take me on alternate routes if there's a queue for instance (so in that sense I have Dynamic Route Guidance), but it won't *_ask_* first, and apparently there's no way to make it ask. But I see others say it may be because I have Electric Intelligence on, so I'll look into that. In any case, there should really be an alternative route option to get a few to pick from like you show, but I can't find that either.
Thanks as always Nick. I recently purchased a GLC (W254), and there is no Satellite Map on/off option. Instead, there is a Weather option. I've turned the Satellte map on using Hey Mercedes but she can't seem to turn it off. I've looked in the manual and other videos without success. Help!
Ah the satellite view on the in built Sat Nav is only on the 2023 GLC as it has the latest generation MBUX Multimedia system. This is the one with the vertical portrait screen. Is it the 2023 model?
@npoleary yup annoying for sure , same a silly privacy laws do not allow me to use camera built into car, safety law that does not allow me to use voice control to open and shut my sun roof and there is no sign of acknowledging a traffic issue. Unfortunately the our EQC ((2020 model) doeasn't give the Alternative Route option. (From comments below, this might relate to having the Electric Intelligence setting on) Interestingly, it has a Satellite option in Advanced settings, but it only shows a satellite view at about the 2 mile scale setting on the map.
Not sure I’ve seen the address appear on the Sat Nav when you arrive You’ll see it on most Sat Navs before you press go but after that it’ll just show you the road you’re on
Hey Nick a question re the Parking Package with 360-degree camera on the 2023 GLC. According to Mercedes this system will use the surround cameras to record events like attempted break ins or bumps/collisions while your vehicle is parked. Is there a way the surround cameras can be used as a Dashcam to record while you’re driving. I have a Dashcam in my other car & hope that I could just add a thumb drive or similar somewhere on the GLC rather than have to install a separate Dashcam system. Just seems like a no-brainer to be able to add this functionality to the already existing cameras Cheers Steve
No sadly not the 360° cameras can’t be used in this way, for one they’re too low and on the exterior. I know it makes sense as there are cameras on a car but I guess Mercedes designed it in this way because they wouldn’t be suitable plus their focusing distance is for close objects not far away.
Hey Nick thanks for getting back to me with an answer on this as well as an explanation. I’m about to purchase my first Merc after a couple of BMW’s. The new GLC has only just been released in Australia. I’ve been doing my research on what tech packages to include & have found your content a great resource to dig into how it all works. So, would you say that the DRG is as effective as TomTom Go Traffic? I am waiting for delivery of the EQA 350, presumably with this option on board. I currently drive a ‘normal’ car (lol) but use TTGT and find it amazing. I’d like to gift the TomTom to a close friend who travels as much as I do, but I won’t if the DRG on my Mercedes isn’t as effective.
I’m sure I remember seeing a setting for some alerts in the Sat nav settings. Sadly I don’t have my car with me for a little while so can’t give exact step by steps but it will depend what model of car you have. Help! I’ve followed the steps and my car doesn’t show alternative route…the option isn’t there 😢. I have an EQA 250premium plus with all the options. It’s driving me insane as I prefer to choose my route. I love Waze but I’m tired of android auto always rebooting when I’m in the middle of nowhere…
I haven’t had extensive use (long term) with a Mercedes Electric car yet and it’s navigation but it wouldn’t surprise me if the navigation on EV’s is a bit different. It’s probably giving you the fastest route regardless and of course factoring in charge points through Mercedes me charge based on how far you’re travelling.
Hi Nick, I have a 2018 A250. I followed your guidance for What3Words but no luck. I then replayed your instruction in this video, but again nothing. Is it only available in later models? Thanks
I believe so, if you chat with Mercedes they can let you know if it’s compatible. Really sorry I only started my channel in 2020 reviewing and producing tutorials at my local Mercedes so if you chat to them they can let you know!
No worries! Glad you enjoy the videos! It should work as it is but I’ve heard from comments on TH-cam that it doesn’t work everywhere round the world. I know it’s available in the UK and runs through the Mercedes me account.
Dynamic Route will also factor in live traffic. It’ll dynamically change (providing you’re subscribed to it on their website / app / or you have a valid subscription from new).
Don’t think I’ve seen that on there before but you might be able to utilise What3Words or even send it from the Mercedes me app. What3Words: www.youtube.com/@npoleary/search?query=what3words
If we select on the EQA the electric intelligence option, dynamic route guidance (taking into account traffic) is no longer activated ? How to do this ?
Hello Nick. Since September 2022 I have been a proud owner of a 2022 EQB 300 4MATIC AMG Premium. I purchased it new and am an avid follower of your channel and have used a lot of your tips and tricks to enhance my Sat Nav experience. In this video (part 6 Battery % on EVs) you describe how after putting in the destination the user will see the % amount of battery left once at the destination. I used to see this all the time and relied on it, but now I do NOT see this at all. It has suddenly disappeared. What has happened? Is there a default selection in the options that will bring it back? I would appreciate your guidance. Many Thanks. Peter
Thank you! And thanks for watching the videos! Not 100% sure where that stat comes from but it may come from Mercedes me services so check to make sure you’ve got all of them activated. I don’t recall seeing a setting in Mercedes multimedia systems with that listed there but it may be one the Mercedes me services.
@@npoleary Thanks for your suggestion. Nothing has changed or been altered in the me services since the me app was installed. The car stats suddenly stopped showing the % about 2 months ago. Thanks again
@@npoleary Hello Nick. An update on this problem. After contacting Mercedes and receiving a request number, I have found the solution. By updating all 14 maps, the map % Battery icon appears again. So just in case anyone else comes across this problem, it is not sufficient to just carry out over-the-air map updates, but to manually download onto a USB stick using the Mercedes Download Manager ALL THE LATEST MAPS, and then update them in the car. I have advised the Mercedes me connect team.
Ooo very nice! 👌🏼 I don’t recall seeing that in the multimedia system although it’s been a while since I filmed any content on an S-Class and looked in that specific menu. But have a look on HOME NAVIGATION WHERE TO? (top left) SETTINGS VIEW Just watching back my video I made here: th-cam.com/video/G1tQ06BGOx4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IOgrtUsdYL6Pt7O5&t=638 This explains virtually everything you can do on the Sat nav for that car (as long as you have the vertical screen in the middle which I think that car did have)
Navigation question Is the HERE Navigation in the Mercedez the same navigation in the HERE We Go App; It seems to be very inaccurate in the US relative to traffic and routing relative to Google Maps; Apple Maps, or Waze
It does say on the multimedia systems 🤓 Head over to Sat Nav settings and the usually Sat Nav info and it’ll show it Here’s a photo on Google 👍🏼 cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbworld.org-vbulletin/640x480/image1_bb59411c64a3fe790c3f1af9fb242e94329444e2.jpeg
It depends on the car, when I’ve visited my local Mercedes I’ve noticed there are several versions of it so not sure which one is on the E-Class. I have produced a head up display video which may help. Might point roughly in the right direction: th-cam.com/video/TNOqQrVfxqw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=17PeU-N_wbH9hxpJ
I don’t believe so, not seen an “import” button for anything like that. You can send designations to the Sat nav from Apple Maps or Google maps on your phone though through Mercedes me 👍🏼
Oh I haven’t seen that on my car, is it something to do with zooming in and out? I’m sure I’ve seen another Sat Nav do something like that before which might be it!
Hi, I couldn't find "dynamic route" on my EQE ! There's no "Advanced " in navigation setting!? EQE have Sat nav or hard disk navigation? What is difference? Thanks
I think EQE’s might be slightly different, as they have a newer generation multimedia system. They’ll have a button top left where it says “Where to?” And then a settings button in there with an options for selecting routes.
That’s alright! I was able to reply so quickly as literally when you messaged I was out filming a car in the new forest and saw. I actually wasn’t 100% sure but I tested it straight away 😜
Hi Nick, I recently attempted to transport an abnormal load in my 2023 GLC, tied the tailgate down with bungee straps, then was unable to drive with the tailgate ajar. Is there any way this can temporarily be disabled to transport abnormal loads ???
Ah for safety I’m pretty sure in that scenario the handbrake probably won’t release automatically. I’ve not tried it but you could probably release the parking brake manually with the switch near the driver’s door.
Ah I’ve covered that in some tips and tricks videos that I filmed at my local Mercedes 🤓 Basically all the favourites are saved in the global favourites menu. This is the star in the middle of the car next to the touchpad and star on the steering wheel. From there you can rename them
I have a C300 4MATIC. I’m in the US so I know there are differences in different countries. I don’t know how to turn off the message that says I’m overdue for Service A. I have searched and other Mercedes say to put the car in power 1 (hit the start engine button once with foot off brake). Then press the phone and OK buttons on the steering wheel. Hold until a menu comes up and then reset. Well that doesn’t work for me. I called my Mercedes dealership and they don’t want to tell me. They say just to bring car in which I’m not doing as it’s not nearby.
Ah I have heard of a service menu before but I’m pretty only Mercedes dealerships know how to access for when they service the car. Really sorry I don’t know on that one :( They’ve not told me either! 😅
New to the MBUX scene having bought a 2020 MB-EQC. When asking ’navigate me home’ the Nav is guiding me to a previous users address. I had already deleted the previous profile and all addresses in the Nav - cannot see where this old address is stored to delete it?? Any ideas?? Sorry if this has been asked a million times before 🤔
Hmmm, try pressing the star on the steering wheel and see if home is listed in there. You should be able to delete it there. Your best bet really is to factory reset the car (that should really be done between users for any modern car) as cars can store all sorts of data. But have a look in that favourites menu and see if it’s in there 🤓
I seem to recall it was on the Navi page, on the left menu, under settings and then map version or something around that area. It’ll show the date on the screen 🤓
Satellite view doesn't work on my GLC 20reg with MBUX. When I turn it on and off, it doesn't change anything. Maybe I have to pay subscription for live map? No thanks
Sadly I’ve not seen a satellite view on that model from memory, it was a new feature part of the new generation multimedia system found the 2023 GLC with the portrait screen in the middle (the vertical one)
@lauriemiles1842 yup did that and it works. I might be missing something here but it's supposed to stay like that when navigating to somewhere but it's extremely difficult to see. Should it be more focused on the route? Zoom in gets rid of satellite view correct?
Sadly not seen a GLE 2024 yet but I believe it should have the same multimedia system as my car MBUX NTG 7. Once you’ve added to favourites usually via a Star symbol, when you’re in the favourites menu, just hold your finger on the screen and tap rename 😎
I noticed MB navigation is the most stupid navigation system and very unreliable. In many cases it suggests to take a right turn, and then take an u turn and then take right turn for a straight road. This happens many times to me. I just crossed the road and ignored the guidance. I started using my Android Auto Google map but it doesn't show the augmented video
Mercedes have quite a few different Sat navs over the years. If you have augmented reality tech I’m presuming it’s one of the newest ones. You can tweak and change some settings in there where it doesn’t offer U-Turns. Although if it’s a new system you could always double check it’s got the latest maps too but this is the cool thing…Smartphone Integration (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay give everyone a choice and if you prefer using that one over any other Sat nav, definitely stick with it. I would always recommend people to try each one system or and use the one they like the most 👍🏼 I’m a fan of CarPlay too (mainly because I’m an Apple lover) but just will stick with the one you get along with 🤓
Hi Nick, Great lesson as always. I have a query you may be able to help with. I have MBUX on my 2022 EQB and find that my satnav always clears the destination automatically upon reaching it. Sometimes I find I've missed that it was actually the destination and have driven past it. With my old Garmin, it would direct me to turn around but the MBUX has cleared it and can't redirect me back. Is there a way to stop it doing this? Cheers, Ted
Also, I've just tried to get the top right of the satnav screen to show the battery charge at the end of the route chosen and nothing is there. Do I need to select a special option for this, please?
Thank you! No sadly that’s how the Sat navs in Mercedes work. I’ve not used a Garmin before but that sounds like something that only Garmin do. Apple Maps and Google Maps do exactly the same thing. For the battery, it could possibly work via Mercedes me so I would just double check that you’ve got your car linked to your account and all of the services are switched on. Failing that if you contact Mercedes I’m sure they’ll be able to help! 🤓

Thanks Nick, I appreciate you taking the trouble to respond. Great channel by the way, it's been very helpful for me
No worries! Glad you enjoy the videos!
It should work as it is but I’ve heard from comments on TH-cam that it doesn’t work everywhere round the world. I know it’s available in the UK and runs through the Mercedes me account.
Could you explain how to turn off autozoom on the map.. I don't like how the map keeps moving and changing scale
Depends on which model and year you have
Let me know and I’ll try and help 🤓
looks like the sat nav on c220 with the big screen is different settings cant find fastest route etc
Does it say Dynamic route on your car? I’ve seen that wording before on Mercedes cars
@@npoleary yes it does
@@npoleary yes but what does that mean
Dynamic Route will also factor in live traffic. It’ll dynamically change (providing you’re subscribed to it on their website / app / or you have a valid subscription from new).
How do you navigate using coordinates in GLC 2023
Don’t think I’ve seen that on there before but you might be able to utilise What3Words or even send it from the Mercedes me app.
What3Words: www.youtube.com/@npoleary/search?query=what3words
If we select on the EQA the electric intelligence option, dynamic route guidance (taking into account traffic) is no longer activated ? How to do this ?
Not sure what you mean, when I sat in one to make the video, there were options for both
Hmmm strange, have you tried resetting the multimedia system? Failing that I’d suggest speaking with Mercedes, hopefully they might be able to help!
Oh interesting! Good to know! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Nick , I have a 2021 s class 580 do you know how to display east and west on the navigation screen?
Thanks!
Ooo very nice! 👌🏼
I don’t recall seeing that in the multimedia system although it’s been a while since I filmed any content on an S-Class and looked in that specific menu.
But have a look on

This explains virtually everything you can do on the Sat nav for that car (as long as you have the vertical screen in the middle which I think that car did have)

Navigation question
Is the HERE Navigation in the Mercedez the same navigation in the HERE We Go App; It seems to be very inaccurate in the US relative to traffic and routing relative to Google Maps; Apple Maps, or Waze
I believe the live traffic info comes from TomTom Live Traffic but maps are HereWeGo 👍🏼
I'd be surprised it's TomTom since Mercedez, BMW and Audi own HERE
It does say on the multimedia systems 🤓
Head over to Sat Nav settings and the usually Sat Nav info and it’ll show it
Here’s a photo on Google 👍🏼

On a 2023 E450 Cabriolet, how do i enable Heads Up Display
It depends on the car, when I’ve visited my local Mercedes I’ve noticed there are several versions of it so not sure which one is on the E-Class. I have produced a head up display video which may help. Might point roughly in the right direction: th-cam.com/video/TNOqQrVfxqw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=17PeU-N_wbH9hxpJ
I just bought my GLC 300 2023 model with ambient lighting package however my vents don’t have light is it okay ?
Specs vary round the world so not all vents in all Mercedes have light up vents, it just depends on the car.
Check with Mercedes if you’re not sure 🙏
@@npoleary I’m from Canada and thanks 🙏
Unfortunately, what three words does not work in Australia, or at least it doesn’t work in my Mercedes-Benz which is only two years old
can you install a route made on a pc with another navigationprogram and install it on your mercedes with fx an GPX file ?
I don’t believe so, not seen an “import” button for anything like that.
You can send designations to the Sat nav from Apple Maps or Google maps on your phone though through Mercedes me 👍🏼
I noticed my icon sometimes changes to a car then goes back to a red arrow. I tried searching but is there a way to change the arrow to remain a car?
Oh I haven’t seen that on my car, is it something to do with zooming in and out? I’m sure I’ve seen another Sat Nav do something like that before which might be it!
Hi,
I couldn't find "dynamic route" on my EQE ! There's no "Advanced " in navigation setting!? EQE have Sat nav or hard disk navigation? What is difference?
Thanks
I think EQE’s might be slightly different, as they have a newer generation multimedia system. They’ll have a button top left where it says “Where to?” And then a settings button in there with an options for selecting routes.
hi nick can you use what three words as waypoints
It cancels it if you navigate to another place via voice but once it’s in your destinations you can add that way 🤓 (as a waypoint)
@@npoleary thanks nick touring devon in e4oo convertible that will come in handy
@@npoleary Thanks Nick, will try.
How do I navigate on toll roads? My MBZ takes me around them but I have a pass!
There settings to adjust in navigation settings to allow toll roads.

Hi Nick i have 2020 300d GLE but cannot find hoe to name repeat destinations ie (caravan) (daughter) hospital what am i doing wrong
Ah I’ve covered that in some tips and tricks videos that I filmed at my local Mercedes 🤓
Basically all the favourites are saved in the global favourites menu.
Really sorry I don’t know on that one :(
They’ve not told me either!
But have a look in that favourites menu and see if it’s in there 🤓
@@npoleary Thanks Nick, factory reset worked nicely.
Great channel, I’m working through your back catalogue to get the most out of the MBUX controls.
Ah awesome! Glad it’s working! 😎
Thank you!
Hi Nick, I havejust updated my sat nav via mercedes me, how can i check that it has actually updated?

@@npoleary hi, I have a 2017 amg c43

Satellite view doesn't work on my GLC 20reg with MBUX. When I turn it on and off, it doesn't change anything. Maybe I have to pay subscription for live map? No thanks
Sadly I’ve not seen a satellite view on that model from memory, it was a new feature part of the new generation multimedia system found the 2023 GLC with the portrait screen in the middle (the vertical one)
Try zooming out to about the 2 mile interval setting (pinch zoom in) - it works at this level on our 2020 EQC.
@lauriemiles1842 yup did that and it works. I might be missing something here but it's supposed to stay like that when navigating to somewhere but it's extremely difficult to see. Should it be more focused on the route? Zoom in gets rid of satellite view correct?
I managed to turn it on and now it won't turn off - go figure.

How to add a unique name favorite navigation address in 2024 GLE mbux
Sadly not seen a GLE 2024 yet but I believe it should have the same multimedia system as my car MBUX NTG 7. Once you’ve added to favourites usually via a Star symbol, when you’re in the favourites menu, just hold your finger on the screen and tap rename 😎
❤
I would always recommend people to try each one system or and use the one they like the most 👍🏼 I’m a fan of CarPlay too (mainly because I’m an Apple lover) but just will stick with the one you get along with 🤓
@@npolearymine does the same thing.i was going to a movie and it left me somewhere random
Same here. It's odd.
Fuck this mercedez outdated system
Yeah, doesn't deserve the money. I hate Elon Musk but I would buy Model 3 over this shit.
I’ve covered the Model 3 and it has a very good multimedia system, have you seen it?
