finally got a GR FP and I doubt it's a whiskey of the year contender, but is some damn solid whiskey for $50. I was on the fence for GR bourbon but the FP is another animal.
It is absolutely a fantastic bottle for being as cheap as it is, and it drinks like it has some solid age on it!
You made the right choice! I could not find Helldiver, but was given a few samples from generous friends. 🥃

Picked up Green River full proof for $60 and at first really liked the nose. Few days into the bottle I’m really liking this bottle and the sip is very nice. 🍻

I got so many recommendations for that Balcones Cataleja so I picked one up while in Texas, and I don’t like it at all. Neither did any of my friends who I shared it with. I don’t think it’s tainted in any way, it doesn’t taste off to that degree. It has a very strong note to me of strawberry jello, which is something that I HATE. One friend did perplex me by saying he thought it tasted like nickels, which I think is the same note I’m getting as jello but it’s not coming across that way to me. It’s a huge bummer because I’m generally an American single malt fanboy, but I prefer Balcones’s $40 Lineage bottle over this. Maybe I just don’t like a sherry bomb to that degree. I just wonder what gives, everything I’d ever heard was that the Cataleja was in “best ASM ever created” territory
I thought I was kind of in the minority on this one. Almost anyone I shared it with doesn't like it as much as I do.
