Thanks for posting. I've got a 3039R which is working very well blowing snow on paved surfaces around the property. I love the narrow wheel base when blowing snow in tight places around the house, but with spring approaching I see the need for a more stable tractor for loader and fork work. I added 1.5” automobile type wheel spacers to the rear of my Toro 522xi garden tractor. They slightly helped it be more stable mowing on a hill. Wheel weights helped more. The rear tires rub the rear gauge wheels on my 52” mower deck. I originally had the spacers on the front of my 2011 Ranger XLT Supercab when I had 1994 Mustang Cobra wheels on it. I have video of the spacers on my tractor but not on my Ranger. Adding wheel spacers to anything is not something you do sloppy or without careful thought.
Boyd W, yes I thought along time about the spacers. You use to be able to flip the rims for more width, not anymore on this tractor. I’m not sure if filling the rims helps on the hills...but that seems to be the general thought. Thank you for watching.
A bit of advice- get yourself a used cheap pallet jack. They are great for cradling tires and can provide enough lift (and roll) to "effortlessly" align your wheel and hub. I believe you will like it over the shovel. Admittedly, the shovel requires more skill and is more entertaining. God Bless

After finding out the hard way, had a front wheel almost come off after the lugnuts backed out ruining the rim and almost the axle flange ,i now use blue loctite on them and re-mark the white stripe on nut and rim so i can tell at a glance if anything loosened. Mine i never checked and almost got me killed with no warning so check before each use! JD puts those marks on those bolts for a reason.
I have the 2038R with the auto connect deck I think I am going back to a zero turn and a larger tractor 3 or 4 thousand series. Even my smaller machine is large to mow with can't get under trees either.....
Okay I'm getting use to mowing with the machine, i even struggled with the deck height adjustment. I trimmed all my trees not to hit the cab, more trimming than my open station. I thought of doing exactly what you stated...didn't want to struggle storing another machine...if you have the storage area that's a great move.

Hello Marauder Mitchelli, GREAT video and fantastic information. This video helped tremendously to improve the John Deere tractor's center of gravity stance and grip. That said, I have a JD 3039R with the 72" mower deck. Based on my measurements, if I add the 4" spacers, my right-side back tire would be about 1" from the mower deck's support wheel and bracket. I suppose that was the case with you as well. Have you had problems with the wheel being so close to that bracket? Does that wheel rub in any way against that bracket under load? - I was thinking of getting the 3.5" spacers to allow for a slight more clearance, but wanted to check with you to get your input. Could you please provide some feedback on the clearance between the right-side back wheel and the mower deck wheel support? That would be very helpful information. Thank you Sir for your great information on this matter.
Calixto bingo that is why I don’t recommend going larger than a 4” spacer. I adjusted my deck so it doesn’t hit the scuff wheel but it is close. I adjusted the deck forward and took maybe a 1/4” off the lift height. It was so wet last year I stopped mowing with the jd and now have a zero turn Ferris which does an awesome job, if you keep watching my videos this is explained. Man I do miss mowing in the cab. Btw our tractors do a great job mowing. I hope this helps you stay healthy 🙂
Hello Marauder Mitchelli, first and foremost thank you for your reply. It helps me a lot. I have the same tractor setup you have.. the JD 3 Series with the air conditioned Cab, which is a very nice machine. Mine is the 3039R model and you have the larger engine, but the body dimensions are identical. These are phenomenal machines indeed! -- I think I'll go with the 3.5" spaces and not have to modify the deck, which would probably void my warranty. I don't think an inch less overall width is going to affect me much. - I do wish JD had made that scuff wheel adjustable in some way, so I could run the 5" spacers, but it is what it is... The 3.5" spacers will be a nice addition to the JD. Regarding the zero turn machines, those are really nice, but no A/C and I don't think I want to do 5++ acres without A/C. (I know... 'm spoiled....LOL). Thank you again and yes.... I will continue to watch. I will make sure I subscribe. Thanks again!
Jim the ballast adds over 400lbs a tire...I would not want to handle them myself. No I do think the service man did at my house. He was very good. Be careful I hope this helped.
I have the same tractor with same complaint of feeling tipsy. Have the axles held up ok using the spacers? JD. engineers say the axles wont hold up. So I have been hesitant to put the spacers on. Thanks for the video.
Marauder Mitchelli I love your channel. I have a 757 with trouble free hours and a new 3039r cab and 72” deck. I look fwd to mowing with the a/c on but the zero turn will still be the go to mower. You just cannot beat a zt for mowing and my 757 is a tank.....
I would discuss with your dealer. I think you can as you don't have a mid mount mower, but proceed with caution and test the tires if swapped to make sure they are not rubbing against anything. Be safe.

I did a followup video regarding wheel spacers on this tractor recommend you watch as it has a lot more detail. Maybe flopping the rear tires you'd gain 3/4 if an inch I mention it in the other video. My old 3 series you gain on the rear flop 4 inches but not this machine. I recommend you watch my video on wheel spacers posted last fall, i go into detail. With the 3" spacers you should not have issues with the deck, I have 4" spacers and had to do some fine-tuning. stay safe.
Travis I don't have this tractor anymore...from memory probably around 63"...the rears were just wider than my 59" snowblower. I made a video on spacers it may be in that...definitely watch that video it's pretty thorough.
I’ve just purchased a used 2014 3039r with a a cab, mower and will be getting a loader for it. I saw your video and asked my dealer about spacers and he asked the service and parts folks, but they didn’t see them. You state they are JD parts, so do you know the part numbers? The tractor I’m getting has the turf tires instead, so I don’t know how much gain I will get from reversing them.

@@maraudermitchelli As of now I have the John Deere I match weight box full of field stone…. From “Internet research“ to be had on the subject ….seems to be a negative stigma from JD flip ing the front tires to make them wider if you have heavy loader work, claiming stress on the bearings…
Quick questions.. how wide was you spacers? Does it cause issues with MMM and what’s the total rear width after the spacers? I’m trying to decide between 2025R with Mauser cab and the 3R cab like yours... lift height is pretty bad on the 2R
The spacers are 4”, rear width is about 66”-68”. The right rear mower scuff wheel may rub the rear tire I adjusted the deck forward and took a 1/4 from the lift height. I would go wider than 4” spacers. Big difference I would think between the 2 cab and 3 cab, maybe ac and heat...Sterio and sound. Not that the Mauser cab is bad, 2 series is a great machine. I would test each out. Good luck.
I have a 3039r cab tractor and I know what you mean about these tractors being tippy. I have my rear tires loaded with windshield washer fluid for extra weight. Still have almost tipped it a few times. I really need wheel spacers. Frustrating that JD didn’t make these with the reversible rear wheels to get proper spacing. It’s my only complaint about the tractor.
Matt Kowalski i highly recommend the spacers, but the right rear tire does rub slightly on the scuff wheel adjuster for my mid mount deck. Get the spacers you’ll never regret the decisions.
Marauder, given your comment about the scuffing, would you recommend the three inch spacers? What size mower deck do you have? Mine is 72”. Also, were your tires already loaded before you added the spacers? I loaded mine this summer as I couldn’t afford the spacers and the fluid. Thanks in advance for your response
I just ordered a 3039R w/cab, it's time to start living Lol. Mine is coming with the same tire/wheel combo, what is the width of the outsides before spacers, I've been debating between 3 and 4". Great videos and channel btw, keep it up.
Elk I did a spacer video. which is much more informative than this video I would suggest you watch it. Tire spacer was originally 59" of the snow blower, I went with 4" spacers. Thank you for supporting my channel.

I’ve got a cabbed 3720, I’ve heard the wheel spacers can put a lot of pressure on the axles? I’m running R3 tyres and i feel very unstable using the loader. Would you say the R4 tyres make the experience any better? As it’s difficult to get hold of wheel spacers in the UK. Thanks again for your video it helped a lot!
I have big R4's and could not use the loader without the spacers. I paid over $500 US for a set of 4" (3" spacers may work better with mower) spacers. I did have to adjust my 72" belly mower a 1/4" as it was rubbing on one tire. If you don't use a belly mower you could install 5" or 6" rear spacers and flip your front tires. I vowed never to break my tractor rule to fill the tires, and always use a ballast box. This was a dumb rule, i filled the tires with beet juice (800 lbs) and that combined with the spacers made this tractor awesome doing loader work. This is the best advice i can give you. You may be my first comment from the UK...Awesome spread the word! Don't hesitate to ask again.
Marauder Mitchelli thanks, yes I’ve considered filling the tyres but again in the UK , utility tractors aren’t as common. I usually use the JD ballast box and wheel weights, just can’t turn corners happily with the tractor as feel it start to tip and chicken out. Think 4 inch wheel spacers are the way to go, concerns me tho as I use mine commercially and is in everyday use on uneven ground which worries me about axle stress. Thanks for your reply
It is that time of the year to talk about deicing. There are three major types of deicing chemicals 1) rock salt or sodium chloride (NaCH) minimum effective temperature for road salt is 12”F/-9°C. 2) Calcium chloride (CaCh 2) Can perform to temperatures as low as -20”F/-29°C. When exposed calcium chloride will absorb moisture (from the air) and form a solution. Containers previously used to store calcium chloride may be hazardous when empty since they contain product residues and leftovers. Exposure to the spilled material may be severely irritating or toxic, so wear gloves. Also don’t leave were children or pets can get at. Make sure you seal bags when not in use. 3) Magnesium chloride (MgCl 2) Magnesium chloride stops being effect at temperatures lower than 5o F Magnesium chloride is not as toxic as Calcium chloride, but should be kept away from pets and children just to be safe. I numbered above as the most readily available to least. I keep a small amount of Calcium chloride to add to rock salt when temperature drops below 12 degrees, so as to use less. There are other types you may want to look on the web to get more info. I hope this helps. You may want to pin to top for easy access.

Neil Mack my dealer told me the same torque as the lug nuts 103ftlbs . I thought the spacers were aluminum, I’d be cautious mounting the tires to the aluminum Spacer with a 103 ftlbs. I hope this helps.
Marauder Mitchelli thanks very much! Hey another question if you don’t mind. Looks like your tractor and set up etc. is the same as mine. I have a 12 acre farm but I’m up in the mountains four hours away from Vancouver. While I have lots of roads and relatively flat ground, I am looking at fencing my property this year to keep the cows out and it is got some pretty steep grades. Do you have any idea how stable the tractor is with the spacers now as well as the liquid in your tires? What do you think would be a safe max side tilt would be roughly? 20%-30%?
Neil Mack boy that is a difficult question. I have ap on my phone I’ll try to measure the grade I get nervous in at my property. If you’re not using the belly mower you can swap the front tires to widen their stance. Also with no belly mower you can install 6” spacers. Tractor flipping is a big problem you should contact jd

David Who I don’t have the part number, frankly your dealer needs to look harder. Years ago I watched a jd add which mentioned the spacer. I’d recommend contacting another dealer or John Deere directly. In your manual they do have recommended widths for the rear tires which exceeds the stock width. Please let me know if your dealer finds the spacers. Don’t give up. Please let me know stay safe. 🙂
Marauder Mitchelli - do the spacers cause any issue with the drive over deck at the rear tires? I looks like the tires might hit with 4 inch spacers on the rear. ...and you don’t have spacers on the front do you? Seems that wouldn’t work for driving over the deck.
David Who 4” is the largest I could install, or the right rear deck scuff wheel will hit the rear tire. I had to adjust my deck forward and take a 1/4” off the lift so it would not hit the tractor tire. You can not space the front tires or the right front tire will hit the deck lip.
That's a good question, i picked it up on a 15' car trailer. I'll see if i can measure this weekend when i put the loader back on. Believe it or not i think it is shorter with the loader on than the snowblower.
Rick Thomas outside dimensions for bucket is around 67.5”, it’s a 66” bucket. My rear tire width is the same at the tread over on the sidewall. The extra width is a huge plus doing everything. My ballast box was 500 lbs, just filled tires beet juice weighs 800lbs, regret not doing it sooner. I thought a 72” was too big for my previous jd 3. This bucket weighs 615lbs and the machine handles well. The bucket is awesome I may do a video just on it. Thank you for watching.
Karl Brenzel you can swap the front wheels as rims are offset and add about 5” in width. I haven’t done it yet as the mid mount mower is not set up for wider front width. If you use a belly mower I wouldn’t go wider than 4” spacers as wider will hit the mower wheels. Hope this helps thank you for watching.
Karl, most all tractor front axles pivot in the middle side to side. So in essence, tractors are tricycles. The tractor will tip over and the front axle wont hit the stops.... to stop the flopping until way past the point of no return. This is why tractors can tip on flat ground...the back wheel can come up, when lifting with the loader...and it can flop over. It is essential o have ballast behind the rear tires. This will move the fulcrum to the rear tires, keep it planted on the ground...and keep the weight off the front axle too
Did you put spacers on the front? In your video I think I observed that there are no spacers on the front. If not, did you still need to adjust your 72D mowing deck? Thanks for your prompt response and would love to see more videos by you!
No, you can swap the front tires side to side as the rims are offset. This may not be compatible with the ride over mower deck. I will research in the next several days...dealers say no. For loader and all other work the swapping the front tires is great I've done it on other tractors.
Yes my spacers are 4” and I did have to fine tune adjust my deck. It’s tight on the the right tear tire and scuff wheel. You can’t go larger with a 72” deck. I hope this helps. Stay healthy

After discussion with an engineering friend i believe the spaces are very expensive aluminum, they seemed too light to be steel. I only thought of this after watching my video using the impact that could've stripped the threads. After careful research of tractors online, a road trip to see a tractor with 4" spacers, and many measurements of my tractor i decided to go with 4" spacers. Previous buckets were 72", which i did not like., current 4n1 bucket is 67". The tires after spacers are just inside 67" of the outside dimension of the bucket. Also thought it was a good width for the 72" mid mower. Working on a plan for my 59" snow blower. In my opinion too much of the tire is outside the fender with 6" spacers.
Neil i thought i responded to you. The spacers were purchased through dealer. I believe they are made of very hard aluminium so the threads won't strip.
Hi there! The spacers are supposed to arrive tomorrow. Yes the tires are filled with 90-100 gallons so works out to approximately 800-900lbs per tire. I noticed in your video when you put the spacers on you didn’t flip the tires around. How come? I believe if you flip the tires you get an extra inch or two.
Neil Mack I didn’t flip the tires because I didn’t want to go beyond 66”. My bucket is 66” and the mid mount mower deck right rear anti scuff wheel assembly may rub the right rear tire. Fronts are stock to drive over deck when mounting. You’ll be very pleased with the spacers.hope I helped.
Really enjoyed this video. I have been struggling with how tippy my 3520 is and this is the first video that has been helpful. I have certainly had some precarious situations with my tractor. I am curious how it is working now and did you put spacers on the front?
I just swapped the front tires sides and picked up 6” in width, you can’t do this with a belly mower. I just bought a zero turn won’t use the tractor belly for a couple years it’s set up for dirt and tree management. Rear spacers in my opinion are a must for loader work, you use to be able to swap the rear tires to gain width no longer with JD. Rear ballast will also help. I'll be honest i did not use a torque wrench but i should in the future. My torque wrench is 35 years old and needs to be re-calibrated or replaced. I've checked the lugs by hand and inspect them visually. Remember the tractor is not a car or atv the tires are rotating very slowly...accept when i do wide open throttle speed runs...you should watch that video. Thank you for your concern i will buy a torque wrench.
@@maraudermitchelli still would be a big problem if the come off. On cars it is the tourk from the spinning wheels but on tractors and other equipment in that category it is from vibration

Neil Mack I purchased them from jd dealer they are very expensive...say $500. My research of other suppliers was not successful. They are extremely well engineered and fabricated. Marauder Mitchelli subscribed to your stuff as I have a 3039r. I have a tough hill to negotiate at the top. Was leaning towards the spacers. Dealer wants me to add wheel weights, ballast box and to fill the rear tires. My property does have some soft spots so I am reluctant to add all that weight. Your thoughts? I saw you fixing the ruts from the K-bob, so I am guessing you have so soft spots too
James Berg with this size tractor when ground has wet spots ruts are going to be made, wait until they dry up. I would definitely recommend the spacers, the tractor will then be as wide as all the competition brands. Weight is needed for loader work, you may want to start with a ballast box then add more. My wheels are not filled but maybe in the future.
16B9 you are correct, but theses tires rotate so slowly I’m not overly concerned that I didn’t re torque them. The spacers have been on for 4 months and it’s a tractor on small property probably hasn’t driven a mile yet. But in the fall I will check the torque it’s the correct procedure you’re right.
No but i would not go wider than 4" spacers if your using a 72" deck. The right side scuff wheel lever was rubbing on the tire, the deck had to be adjusted forward, and down 1/8th inch, now no issue. Thank you for watching i may upload a video removing the 59" snowblower.
The rear wheel spacers won't interfere with the mid mount mower installation at all. I have sold 15-20 of these tractors and never had any issues adding spacers and spacers interfering with anything.
@@brdaniel50 My dealer is trying to install 140mm spacers (5.5") and they say the 72" deck interferes with the R4 tires. Do you recommend different tires? Or just stick with the 4" spacers?
Jt you’re absolutely correct. It’s been 3 years and they have not come lose very easy to inspect. I think the lug nut torque is 104 the impact must have gotten it close to that as I’ve had no issues. Thank you they should’ve been torqued. Stay warm
LBJ Media, everything is relative, certainly a base corvette, not loaded. I’ve heard the mid engine corvette will list at $150k, that’s three tractors with the attachments. Tractor are like fast food lbj they make the money on the pop not the burgers.

Good question. 6” spacers will not work with a belly mower, and probably not ideal for jd front mount snow blower. If those attachments are not in play for loader work wider is better and the front tires can be flipped also for increased width. Just make sure the tires are not wider than the loader bucket. @@maraudermitchelli That is what having an Engineering Degree mine is Ag Engineering & growing up with an Engineer. As I said us Anti-Seize I used it on my lug nuts on my car as for some reason they were starting to rust. You can use to impact to spin them down, but use the torque wrench to finish, I like the speed. If you have a 1/4 electric impact that won't hurt the larger bolts. I have a 3/4 impact I use to remove the nuts on my car. then use it to spin them down then finish with torque wrench. Or you could get Torque Limiting Extensions at Amazon, Home Depot, or others range in price from over $40.00 to under $140.00 depending on number purchased.

Hi Zach i think you're asking me to guarantee that this tractor is good and everything i say about this tractor is truthful. In most of my videos are comment how good other brands are and that competition has made John Deere tractors even better. I've owned 3 ford New Holland tractors, 20 and a 25 hp that spread manure on our farm everyday for 20 years and never broke...not once. A 60 hp new Holland that moved saw dust, manure, topsoil snow and drove a 12 foot bat-wing mower cut the field for 10 years. I've owned 3 JCB backhoes, Trojan Loader, 3 Kamotsu excavator 25 ton, TD 8 and 15 bulldozers, Allis Chalmers Bulldozer, Bobcat Skid steer and a Kubota Grand L 3940 which my employees love. Personally i've owned 4 John Deere tractors over the last 30 years. So i have a reasonable background owning and operating equipment. Kubota, Kioti and John Deere are all excellent tractor. John Deere is the only one out of the 3 brands that offers a mid-mount deck with a 46 hp engine which is drive over deck for installation. JD is the only brand with a drive over mid mount deck. My Kubota grand L has a mid-mount deck, not drive over and currently Kubota does not offer the a mid mount deck for the Grand L...that is what my salesman has told me. My Kioti salesman stated Kioti does not offer a tractor close to the 3 series with a mid-mount deck. My tractor pays for itself cutting my lawn, not snow blowing. So it's important to me to have a deck which mounts and dismounts easily...although i do struggle with it at times. I've only researched Kubota, Kioti and John Deere tractors there's more out there you should look at. I like the dual hydro pedals on the JD and Kioti, i've never been fond of the trundle peddle on the Kubota. The interior is nicer on the John Deere...i care about that. I am getting proposal from Kubota, Kioti and John Deere to replace our work Kubota. If you're not using a mid-mount deck you may save yourself alot of money by looking at other manufacturers. This tractor's loader stick, and cables had to be replaced. I've owned JD's with Yanmar engines for over 30 years and never had one break. You have many choices of tractor to look at beyond the brands i've stated. I'm sure you'll do your research...i put thousands down on my tractor and don't regret it...certainly i think you'd be pleased. Thank you for watching.
Marauder Mitchelli I looked a Kubota this round, they don’t offer a mmm in this class of tractor. The fit and finish and engineering is outstanding and the service and parts availability is superior to everyone else. You are right, it is not cheap.

Thanks for posting. I've got a 3039R which is working very well blowing snow on paved surfaces around the property. I love the narrow wheel base when blowing snow in tight places around the house, but with spring approaching I see the need for a more stable tractor for loader and fork work. Love watching all of your videos. We share many hobbies including snowmobiling, RZRing, and especially snow removal. Best wishes from northern Wisconsin.

I added 1.5” automobile type wheel spacers to the rear of my Toro 522xi garden tractor. They slightly helped it be more stable mowing on a hill. Wheel weights helped more. The rear tires rub the rear gauge wheels on my 52” mower deck. I originally had the spacers on the front of my 2011 Ranger XLT Supercab when I had 1994 Mustang Cobra wheels on it. I have video of the spacers on my tractor but not on my Ranger. Adding wheel spacers to anything is not something you do sloppy or without careful thought.
Boyd W, yes I thought along time about the spacers. You use to be able to flip the rims for more width, not anymore on this tractor. I’m not sure if filling the rims helps on the hills...but that seems to be the general thought. Thank you for watching.

It looks like you could take your rear tires and swap sides with them also. That should add a little with, unless I looked at them wrong.

A bit of advice- get yourself a used cheap pallet jack. They are great for cradling tires and can provide enough lift (and roll) to "effortlessly" align your wheel and hub. I believe you will like it over the shovel. Admittedly, the shovel requires more skill and is more entertaining. God Bless

After finding out the hard way, had a front wheel almost come off after the lugnuts backed out ruining the rim and almost the axle flange ,i now use blue loctite on them and re-mark the white stripe on nut and rim so i can tell at a glance if anything loosened. Mine i never checked and almost got me killed with no warning so check before each use! JD puts those marks on those bolts for a reason.

I have the 2038R with the auto connect deck I think I am going back to a zero turn and a larger tractor 3 or 4 thousand series. Even my smaller machine is large to mow with can't get under trees either.....
Okay I'm getting use to mowing with the machine, i even struggled with the deck height adjustment. I trimmed all my trees not to hit the cab, more trimming than my open station. I thought of doing exactly what you stated...didn't want to struggle storing another machine...if you have the storage area that's a great move.

Hello Marauder Mitchelli, GREAT video and fantastic information. This video helped tremendously to improve the John Deere tractor's center of gravity stance and grip. That said, I have a JD 3039R with the 72" mower deck. Based on my measurements, if I add the 4" spacers, my right-side back tire would be about 1" from the mower deck's support wheel and bracket. I suppose that was the case with you as well. Have you had problems with the wheel being so close to that bracket? Does that wheel rub in any way against that bracket under load? - I was thinking of getting the 3.5" spacers to allow for a slight more clearance, but wanted to check with you to get your input. Could you please provide some feedback on the clearance between the right-side back wheel and the mower deck wheel support? That would be very helpful information. Thank you Sir for your great information on this matter.
Calixto bingo that is why I don’t recommend going larger than a 4” spacer. I adjusted my deck so it doesn’t hit the scuff wheel but it is close. I adjusted the deck forward and took maybe a 1/4” off the lift height. It was so wet last year I stopped mowing with the jd and now have a zero turn Ferris which does an awesome job, if you keep watching my videos this is explained. Man I do miss mowing in the cab. Btw our tractors do a great job mowing. I hope this helps you stay healthy 🙂
Hello Marauder Mitchelli, first and foremost thank you for your reply. It helps me a lot. I have the same tractor setup you have.. the JD 3 Series with the air conditioned Cab, which is a very nice machine. Mine is the 3039R model and you have the larger engine, but the body dimensions are identical. These are phenomenal machines indeed! -- I think I'll go with the 3.5" spaces and not have to modify the deck, which would probably void my warranty. I don't think an inch less overall width is going to affect me much. - I do wish JD had made that scuff wheel adjustable in some way, so I could run the 5" spacers, but it is what it is... The 3.5" spacers will be a nice addition to the JD. Regarding the zero turn machines, those are really nice, but no A/C and I don't think I want to do 5++ acres without A/C. (I know... 'm spoiled....LOL). Thank you again and yes.... I will continue to watch. I will make sure I subscribe. Thanks again!

I too am old and grey and I have a question. Do you have ballast in those rear tires? I'm just wondering if I can handle them once I get them off.
Jim the ballast adds over 400lbs a tire...I would not want to handle them myself. No I do think the service man did at my house. He was very good. Be careful I hope this helped.

I would discuss with your dealer. I think you can as you don't have a mid mount mower, but proceed with caution and test the tires if swapped to make sure they are not rubbing against anything. Be safe.

I did a followup video regarding wheel spacers on this tractor recommend you watch as it has a lot more detail. Maybe flopping the rear tires you'd gain 3/4 if an inch I mention it in the other video. My old 3 series you gain on the rear flop 4 inches but not this machine. I recommend you watch my video on wheel spacers posted last fall, i go into detail. With the 3" spacers you should not have issues with the deck, I have 4" spacers and had to do some fine-tuning. stay safe.

I’ve just purchased a used 2014 3039r with a a cab, mower and will be getting a loader for it. I saw your video and asked my dealer about spacers and he asked the service and parts folks, but they didn’t see them. You state they are JD parts, so do you know the part numbers? The tractor I’m getting has the turf tires instead, so I don’t know how much gain I will get from reversing them.

Quick questions.. how wide was you spacers? Does it cause issues with MMM and what’s the total rear width after the spacers? I’m trying to decide between 2025R with Mauser cab and the 3R cab like yours... lift height is pretty bad on the 2R
The spacers are 4”, rear width is about 66”-68”. The right rear mower scuff wheel may rub the rear tire I adjusted the deck forward and took a 1/4 from the lift height. I would go wider than 4” spacers. Big difference I would think between the 2 cab and 3 cab, maybe ac and heat...Sterio and sound. Not that the Mauser cab is bad, 2 series is a great machine. I would test each out. Good luck.

I have a 3039r cab tractor and I know what you mean about these tractors being tippy. I have my rear tires loaded with windshield washer fluid for extra weight. Still have almost tipped it a few times. I really need wheel spacers. Frustrating that JD didn’t make these with the reversible rear wheels to get proper spacing. It’s my only complaint about the tractor.
Matt Kowalski i highly recommend the spacers, but the right rear tire does rub slightly on the scuff wheel adjuster for my mid mount deck. Get the spacers you’ll never regret the decisions.
Marauder, given your comment about the scuffing, would you recommend the three inch spacers? What size mower deck do you have? Mine is 72”. Also, were your tires already loaded before you added the spacers? I loaded mine this summer as I couldn’t afford the spacers and the fluid. Thanks in advance for your response

Hi thanks for your video! I’m experiencing the same issue right now and tbh I’m scared to put wheel spacers on. I’ve got a cabbed 3720, I’ve heard the wheel spacers can put a lot of pressure on the axles? I’m running R3 tyres and i feel very unstable using the loader. Would you say the R4 tyres make the experience any better? As it’s difficult to get hold of wheel spacers in the UK. Thanks again for your video it helped a lot!
I have big R4's and could not use the loader without the spacers. I paid over $500 US for a set of 4" (3" spacers may work better with mower) spacers. I did have to adjust my 72" belly mower a 1/4" as it was rubbing on one tire. If you don't use a belly mower you could install 5" or 6" rear spacers and flip your front tires. I vowed never to break my tractor rule to fill the tires, and always use a ballast box. This was a dumb rule, i filled the tires with beet juice (800 lbs) and that combined with the spacers made this tractor awesome doing loader work. This is the best advice i can give you. You may be my first comment from the UK...Awesome spread the word! Don't hesitate to ask again.
Marauder Mitchelli thanks, yes I’ve considered filling the tyres but again in the UK , utility tractors aren’t as common. I usually use the JD ballast box and wheel weights, just can’t turn corners happily with the tractor as feel it start to tip and chicken out. Think 4 inch wheel spacers are the way to go, concerns me tho as I use mine commercially and is in everyday use on uneven ground which worries me about axle stress. Thanks for your reply

It is that time of the year to talk about deicing. There are three major types of deicing chemicals
1) rock salt or sodium chloride (NaCH)
minimum effective temperature for road salt is 12”F/-9°C.
2) Calcium chloride (CaCh 2)
Can perform to temperatures as low as -20”F/-29°C.
When exposed calcium chloride will absorb moisture (from the air) and form a solution. Containers previously used to store calcium chloride may be hazardous when empty since they contain product residues and leftovers. Exposure to the spilled material may be severely irritating or toxic, so wear gloves.
Also don’t leave were children or pets can get at. Make sure you seal bags when not in use.
3) Magnesium chloride (MgCl 2)
Magnesium chloride stops being effect at temperatures lower than 5o F
Magnesium chloride is not as toxic as Calcium chloride, but should be kept away from pets and children just to be safe.
I numbered above as the most readily available to least.
I keep a small amount of Calcium chloride to add to rock salt when temperature drops below 12 degrees, so as to use less.
There are other types you may want to look on the web to get more info.

Neil Mack my dealer told me the same torque as the lug nuts 103ftlbs . I thought the spacers were aluminum, I’d be cautious mounting the tires to the aluminum Spacer with a 103 ftlbs. I hope this helps.
Marauder Mitchelli thanks very much! Hey another question if you don’t mind. Looks like your tractor and set up etc. is the same as mine. I have a 12 acre farm but I’m up in the mountains four hours away from Vancouver. While I have lots of roads and relatively flat ground, I am looking at fencing my property this year to keep the cows out and it is got some pretty steep grades. Do you have any idea how stable the tractor is with the spacers now as well as the liquid in your tires? What do you think would be a safe max side tilt would be roughly? 20%-30%?
Neil Mack boy that is a difficult question. I have ap on my phone I’ll try to measure the grade I get nervous in at my property. If you’re not using the belly mower you can swap the front tires to widen their stance. Also with no belly mower you can install 6” spacers. Tractor flipping is a big problem you should contact jd

What is the part number? I asked by local dealer if they made the for the rear of the 3046R, and they couldn’t find them.
David Who I don’t have the part number, frankly your dealer needs to look harder. Years ago I watched a jd add which mentioned the spacer. I’d recommend contacting another dealer or John Deere directly. In your manual they do have recommended widths for the rear tires which exceeds the stock width. Please let me know if your dealer finds the spacers. Don’t give up. Please let me know stay safe. 🙂
Marauder Mitchelli - do the spacers cause any issue with the drive over deck at the rear tires? I looks like the tires might hit with 4 inch spacers on the rear. ...and you don’t have spacers on the front do you? Seems that wouldn’t work for driving over the deck.
David Who 4” is the largest I could install, or the right rear deck scuff wheel will hit the rear tire. I had to adjust my deck forward and take a 1/4” off the lift so it would not hit the tractor tire. You can not space the front tires or the right front tire will hit the deck lip.

That's a good question, i picked it up on a 15' car trailer. I'll see if i can measure this weekend when i put the loader back on. Believe it or not i think it is shorter with the loader on than the snowblower.

Rick Thomas outside dimensions for bucket is around 67.5”, it’s a 66” bucket. My rear tire width is the same at the tread over on the sidewall. The extra width is a huge plus doing everything. My ballast box was 500 lbs, just filled tires beet juice weighs 800lbs, regret not doing it sooner. I thought a 72” was too big for my previous jd 3. This bucket weighs 615lbs and the machine handles well. The bucket is awesome I may do a video just on it. Thank you for watching.

I noticed that you only added spacers to the rear wheels. Have you noticed any ill affects to not adding spacers to the front wheels, as well?
Karl Brenzel you can swap the front wheels as rims are offset and add about 5” in width. I haven’t done it yet as the mid mount mower is not set up for wider front width. If you use a belly mower I wouldn’t go wider than 4” spacers as wider will hit the mower wheels. Hope this helps thank you for watching.
Karl, most all tractor front axles pivot in the middle side to side. So in essence, tractors are tricycles. The tractor will tip over and the front axle wont hit the stops.... to stop the flopping until way past the point of no return. This is why tractors can tip on flat ground...the back wheel can come up, when lifting with the loader...and it can flop over. It is essential o have ballast behind the rear tires. This will move the fulcrum to the rear tires, keep it planted on the ground...and keep the weight off the front axle too
Did you put spacers on the front? In your video I think I observed that there are no spacers on the front. If not, did you still need to adjust your 72D mowing deck? Thanks for your prompt response and would love to see more videos by you!
No, you can swap the front tires side to side as the rims are offset. This may not be compatible with the ride over mower deck. I will research in the next several days...dealers say no. For loader and all other work the swapping the front tires is great I've done it on other tractors.
So just to confirm..a 4" wheel spacers will work with a 72" driver over mower deck. My dealer is telling me it won't.
Yes my spacers are 4” and I did have to fine tune adjust my deck. It’s tight on the the right tear tire and scuff wheel. You can’t go larger with a 72” deck. I hope this helps. Stay healthy

Did you end up going with the steel spacers or aluminum? Also why did you choose 4 inches and not the maximum 6 inch spacers?
After discussion with an engineering friend i believe the spaces are very expensive aluminum, they seemed too light to be steel. I only thought of this after watching my video using the impact that could've stripped the threads. After careful research of tractors online, a road trip to see a tractor with 4" spacers, and many measurements of my tractor i decided to go with 4" spacers. Previous buckets were 72", which i did not like., current 4n1 bucket is 67". The tires after spacers are just inside 67" of the outside dimension of the bucket. Also thought it was a good width for the 72" mid mower. Working on a plan for my 59" snow blower. In my opinion too much of the tire is outside the fender with 6" spacers.
Neil i thought i responded to you. The spacers were purchased through dealer. I believe they are made of very hard aluminium so the threads won't strip.

Hi there! The spacers are supposed to arrive tomorrow. Yes the tires are filled with 90-100 gallons so works out to approximately 800-900lbs per tire. I noticed in your video when you put the spacers on you didn’t flip the tires around. How come? I believe if you flip the tires you get an extra inch or two.
Neil Mack I didn’t flip the tires because I didn’t want to go beyond 66”. My bucket is 66” and the mid mount mower deck right rear anti scuff wheel assembly may rub the right rear tire. Fronts are stock to drive over deck when mounting. You’ll be very pleased with the spacers.hope I helped.
Really enjoyed this video. I have been struggling with how tippy my 3520 is and this is the first video that has been helpful. I have certainly had some precarious situations with my tractor. I am curious how it is working now and did you put spacers on the front?
I just swapped the front tires sides and picked up 6” in width, you can’t do this with a belly mower. I just bought a zero turn won’t use the tractor belly for a couple years it’s set up for dirt and tree management.
Rear spacers in my opinion are a must for loader work, you use to be able to swap the rear tires to gain width no longer with JD.
Rear ballast will also help.

I'll be honest i did not use a torque wrench but i should in the future. My torque wrench is 35 years old and needs to be re-calibrated or replaced. I've checked the lugs by hand and inspect them visually. Remember the tractor is not a car or atv the tires are rotating very slowly...accept when i do wide open throttle speed runs...you should watch that video. Thank you for your concern i will buy a torque wrench.
@@maraudermitchelli still would be a big problem if the come off. On cars it is the tourk from the spinning wheels but on tractors and other equipment in that category it is from vibration

Neil Mack I purchased them from jd dealer they are very expensive...say $500. My research of other suppliers was not successful. They are extremely well engineered and fabricated. Marauder Mitchelli subscribed to your stuff as I have a 3039r. I have a tough hill to negotiate at the top. Was leaning towards the spacers. Dealer wants me to add wheel weights, ballast box and to fill the rear tires. My property does have some soft spots so I am reluctant to add all that weight. Your thoughts? I saw you fixing the ruts from the K-bob, so I am guessing you have so soft spots too
James Berg with this size tractor when ground has wet spots ruts are going to be made, wait until they dry up. I would definitely recommend the spacers, the tractor will then be as wide as all the competition brands. Weight is needed for loader work, you may want to start with a ballast box then add more. My wheels are not filled but maybe in the future.

What about setting the torque? Spacers are notorious for coming loose. They usually require re-torquing after they seat or are run a few miles/hours.
16B9 you are correct, but theses tires rotate so slowly I’m not overly concerned that I didn’t re torque them. The spacers have been on for 4 months and it’s a tractor on small property probably hasn’t driven a mile yet. But in the fall I will check the torque it’s the correct procedure you’re right.

Your John Deere dealer can order them for you, i think they are a must for loader work. They are cheep.

No but i would not go wider than 4" spacers if your using a 72" deck. The right side scuff wheel lever was rubbing on the tire, the deck had to be adjusted forward, and down 1/8th inch, now no issue. Thank you for watching i may upload a video removing the 59" snowblower.
The rear wheel spacers won't interfere with the mid mount mower installation at all. I have sold 15-20 of these tractors and never had any issues adding spacers and spacers interfering with anything.

@@brdaniel50 My dealer is trying to install 140mm spacers (5.5") and they say the 72" deck interferes with the R4 tires. Do you recommend different tires? Or just stick with the 4" spacers?

You need to torque them bolts on the spacers and the wheels or they will come loose.
Jt you’re absolutely correct. It’s been 3 years and they have not come lose very easy to inspect. I think the lug nut torque is 104 the impact must have gotten it close to that as I’ve had no issues. Thank you they should’ve been torqued. Stay warm

LBJ Media, everything is relative, certainly a base corvette, not loaded. I’ve heard the mid engine corvette will list at $150k, that’s three tractors with the attachments. Tractor are like fast food lbj they make the money on the pop not the burgers.

Good question. 6” spacers will not work with a belly mower, and probably not ideal for jd front mount snow blower. If those attachments are not in play for loader work wider is better and the front tires can be flipped also for increased width. Just make sure the tires are not wider than the loader bucket. I know its a pain in the A**, but you should re-torque those inner bolts on the spacer for safety next year. My thoughts on this project.

@@maraudermitchelli If John Deere does not have specs. for you SAE has set standards for sizes & thread type course of fine thread. Use those standards for torquing you bolts.

@@maraudermitchelli That is what having an Engineering Degree mine is Ag Engineering & growing up with an Engineer. As I said us Anti-Seize I used it on my lug nuts on my car as for some reason they were starting to rust.
You can use to impact to spin them down, but use the torque wrench to finish, I like the speed. If you have a 1/4 electric impact that won't hurt the larger bolts. I have a 3/4 impact I use to remove the nuts on my car. then use it to spin them down then finish with torque wrench. Or you could get Torque Limiting Extensions at Amazon, Home Depot, or others range in price from over $40.00 to under $140.00 depending on number purchased.

Hi Zach i think you're asking me to guarantee that this tractor is good and everything i say about this tractor is truthful. In most of my videos are comment how good other brands are and that competition has made John Deere tractors even better. I've owned 3 ford New Holland tractors, 20 and a 25 hp that spread manure on our farm everyday for 20 years and never broke...not once. A 60 hp new Holland that moved saw dust, manure, topsoil snow and drove a 12 foot bat-wing mower cut the field for 10 years. I've owned 3 JCB backhoes, Trojan Loader, 3 Kamotsu excavator 25 ton, TD 8 and 15 bulldozers, Allis Chalmers Bulldozer, Bobcat Skid steer and a Kubota Grand L 3940 which my employees love. Personally i've owned 4 John Deere tractors over the last 30 years. So i have a reasonable background owning and operating equipment. Kubota, Kioti and John Deere are all excellent tractor. John Deere is the only one out of the 3 brands that offers a mid-mount deck with a 46 hp engine which is drive over deck for installation. JD is the only brand with a drive over mid mount deck. My Kubota grand L has a mid-mount deck, not drive over and currently Kubota does not offer the a mid mount deck for the Grand L...that is what my salesman has told me. My Kioti salesman stated Kioti does not offer a tractor close to the 3 series with a mid-mount deck. My tractor pays for itself cutting my lawn, not snow blowing. So it's important to me to have a deck which mounts and dismounts easily...although i do struggle with it at times. I've only researched Kubota, Kioti and John Deere tractors there's more out there you should look at. I like the dual hydro pedals on the JD and Kioti, i've never been fond of the trundle peddle on the Kubota. The interior is nicer on the John Deere...i care about that. I am getting proposal from Kubota, Kioti and John Deere to replace our work Kubota. If you're not using a mid-mount deck you may save yourself alot of money by looking at other manufacturers. This tractor's loader stick, and cables had to be replaced. I've owned JD's with Yanmar engines for over 30 years and never had one break. You have many choices of tractor to look at beyond the brands i've stated. I'm sure you'll do your research...i put thousands down on my tractor and don't regret it...certainly i think you'd be pleased. Thank you for watching.
Marauder Mitchelli I looked a Kubota this round, they don’t offer a mmm in this class of tractor. The fit and finish and engineering is outstanding and the service and parts availability is superior to everyone else. You are right, it is not cheap.
Great Video! Have you had any issues with your tractor since adding the spacers? I've seen some comments regarding the warranty and life span of the tractor rear end when using these.

No issues due to wheel spacers the machine is awesome, my jd dealer recommended them.
