    I have watched your vids for a couple of years now, i dont remember commenting before although i always leave a like.
    However, i am compelled to write. You are a very VERY remarkable lady i cant tell you how impressed i am having done the exact same job myself last year.

    I started to chuckle when you named the Engine, the Red Bastard. That string trick with the mounting bolts was ok. Liked the video, not too many women take out a boat engine, well done.

      I didnt want to post this for everyone to see but if you have left wires flopping around eventually they will break wherever they are fastened to something. Same with fuel lines. There are best practices that should be followed to prevent dangerous failures and sometimes amatures doing their own work may not see a potential problem. Sometimes its good to have a REAL mechanic take a look at your work and make sure its safe. Or maybe face time your father and let him look things over.
      I think you are awesome but im a dad too and wouldnt want you to have a dangerous situation develope..:)

    next time you have a difficult bolt, push string through the hole and find the end, Duck tape to the shaft of the bolt and pull it back through the hole. Only works if the hole is big enough, and youre patient enough. BUT, impressed you got it done without a lot of swearing!

    I am impressed by the language skills and the ability to articulate the procedure of engine removal so well, You are not a novice when it comes to mechanical work, kudos to you for a job well done. A side comment, I purchased my Catalina 27 in Dana point California and had a wonderful time being around the sailing culture. I loved it

    Haha. Strings on wrenches, parts etc. That's what we used to do in the USCG at Air Station Sangley Pt., Philippines, to change engines on HU-16 Grumman Albatrosses over the water. Those were the days!

    Kia ora Holly, I spent many "fun" hours working on my BUKH 20... fantastic little work horse that had done over 10000 hours.. I lost my yacht a month ago... rolled and dismasted out from Napier in a southerly storm that just kept on getting stronger with huge swells... the BUKH 20 had run till the last.. mine was named Angus... great work.. cheers, Alex

    Many years ago i read a book called The Dove by Robin Graham. I'm 68 now 46 years out of the Marines. Was on an LPH Okinawa. West Pacific cruise. Love the islands in zhat area. Also enjoyed time aboard ship. You Dear young Lady are living Your Dream. Keep going strong. And as Jimmy Buffett would say Fair Sailing to you.

    The same thing happened to us. Elbow blew, ordered a high end SS elbow. Installed, then realized the engine had seized in the process. We have an Ocean Volt setup onboard now and very happy with it. Good luck with the engine swap.

    Great video. Luckily the mechanic diagnosed it quick. Like you said, harvest everything you can. Injector pump and injector, cylinder head..this will save big bucks down the road. The Bukh is a good workhorse. Glad you found one. Way easier to just swap. Fair winds.

    You are my hero! I love that you are not afraid to tackle any project!! I’m currently working on multiple projects on my boat. This season I’ve replaced the old water heater and toilet; swapped out the original 51 amp alternator for a leece-neville 90 amp in preparation for adding solar and a house battery bank. This weekend I’m starting plumbing line replacement and addition of a Whale Gulley IC 12v shower waste pump kit. Keep up the great work!

    Bolts go in from the top so if the nut comes off the engine stays in the same place. The thing you call the foot is an engine mount.

    Same happened to me. Raw water backed up the exhaust in a storm. The entire was turning over, but not starting, after 2 weeks, wouldn't turn over at all. Something you can do is called "pickling" where you can flush it with fresh water and keep it turning over and this will wash the raw water out. But not after it is locked up, of course. So cool seeing you doing all this yourself.

    Tool suggestion. Long extension for ratchet. Some flex head sockets. Let’s you reach long distance in a hole and move bolts.

    Good job. BUKH is a very solid engine.. I´ve had a couple my self, and they never failed. Like your boat, it´s made here in Denmark. You were lucky to find one on the other side of the world. Have a nice trip.

    So funny when you where doing the motor mount bolts I was talking to my TV òf tye a piece of string on it and I thought I can't tell you and then further on you did the string thing so great to see you getting this done

    These simple engines are great! I have a Bukh DV10 on my boat. It is 43 years old and sill running. Love to see yours bringing you that far! Hopefully the "new" one will bring you where ever you want to.

    To put the bolts in you feed thin wire through the hole and grab it on the other side, Now wrap wire tightly around threads and pull on wire to draw the bitter end the bolt is attached too, back through the hole ... bingo bango... You are doing it with ease! (Comment made before seeing you the string! Good job!!)
