Here's how to play like a 5 string banjo - pick out a simple melody, then augment it with the equivalent of holding down the sustain pedal on a piano while picking out appropriate harmony notes.

NO it does not have a ball bearing ring. It has a STEVE RYAN No Hole Conversion Ring. I'm glad you liked it. It's my favorite Banjo.
