Learning to recognise bird song has opened up a new world to me. The number of times now that I hear birds, can recognise them so I know they are around, but haven’t see them. It makes me realise there are so many more birds around where I live than I’d realised! Thanks for these videos.
I always liken the song structure to skimming a stone. The first two or three bounces (notes) are spaced out and then the last ones all come rapid fire.
You've created an incredible learning resource for this and generations to come. Thank you for inspiring me and please make some more videos. You make learning bird song seem both easy and fun. You've packed in so much wonderful information that each video must've taken a long time to produce but they really are gems.
you're so easy to listen to, and learn from, you make it lots of fun. thank you for such insightful video's, i hope you will get back to creating soon. thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
My Mother and I have been really enjoying learning all the birdsongs with your helpful videos. As soon as we'd watched your latest video, the Bluetit song, we looked for more but were distraught to see that was your last one. Would you consider making any more? It would be much appreciated, as now we are a little lost on what song to learn next and how to remember it 😆
I 'binge-watched' all of your videos last week and so happy to see another one today! I completely agree with David's comment below - about it opening up a whole new world. The only downside is I keep starting work late because my dog walks are taking far longer, haha. Thank you for these videos, I love being a bird-nerd 😆
Hey Lucy! Absolutely love this episode, as the Blue Tit is my favourite small bird! Great presentation skills, you're a natural, I love the editing and visuals! I completely appreciate the effort gone into this, especially as a TH-camr myself, I really miss your videos and hope to see more in 2022. I also want to take this opportunity to wish you both a happy & prosperous New Year for 2022. James ?;^D
Hi Lucy, still loving your lessons. It's almost holiday season; any top tips on new birds to listen out for over the Summer? Summer Bird Call Bingo anyone?
Very interesting way using those words to make the phrase of the Blue Tit. it is very accurate. A way I heard which I have found very helpful is that it sounds similar to an old engine struggling to start. Might not help the younger generation;-)
Really helpful video thank you! We have a regular visitor & I found the "blue tit bandit" really useful, I was getting the blue tit & great tit confused, but this will definitely help now! Love these videos, thank you x
Just spotted some goldfinch in the garden for the first time but am having trouble identifying their call - Will there be a goldfinch episode coming please? 🤞🏻
Hi Lucy watched your mini series on bbc website n now recently subscribed …great videos thank you for the advice it certainly helps. BTW have you heard the call of the common loon or northern diver? I heard this in the dead of night at Doxford Hall Northumberland a few years ago, it must be the most haunting sound of any living creature! Also was fortunate enough to see some in the flesh this September of west coast of Scotland. Thanks again really lovely lessons.
I usually hear their agitated noises. They use the nest box just above our back door and shout at us as we go in and out. I've just had to pop outside as there was an unusual bird song that I didn't recognise. I think I've identified it as a greenfinch so a greenfinch vid would be great 🙂
Love these videos so much Lucy! I learnt blue tit through imagining it to be a chimney sweep in Mary Poppins going 'chim chim chim chimneyyy'. Someone also pointed out recently that it sounds a bit like the start of Beethoven's 5th Symphony (the one that goes duh duh duh duhhhhh) :)
Really wish you would make some more of these little videos. I think they’re brilliant!

Brilliant… but is that it? You did promise us more.. Dunnocks and Coal Tits to name but two… would REALLY like more of these please ….
Thanks for sharing your bird wisdom Lucy
Great owl on winter watch 😊

Thank you Lucy excellent stuff
Your videos are great and so helpful. I've been a low level bird nerd for years but could never master recognition on song alone.
