Very stunning transformation! Enjoyed your video. You applied just the correct amount of gold! Love that you kept the drawers wood. Everything complemented each other ✨✨✨
Makes sense to me! It’s cold and rainy here. As long as you dont need to do anything too crazy, bring it in and put down a drop cloth and get to it! Haha
Yes, you can't go wrong with gold gilding wax Kacha style! I recently did my vanity in an olive with gold gilding wax! It's a beautiful combination. Painting and leaving the wood tones - nice look!
I'm so happy to see you back at your Creative self Claire 🥰👍....This antique Tallboy is made about in the 1930s. ..I literally Just did one but I did a swan decoupage front with glass bead gel raised stencil On both sides. .You did an amazing job and came out gorgeous 👍❣️😊
I came to your channel via The Colored Caboose. Am now subscribed. I love what you did with this dresser! I have bingewatched Kacha for a couple of years.. she has taken me out of my white, chippy comfort zone, and like you, I have fallen in love with gold. I laughed out loud as you kept deciding you needed more gold. 🤣 I live in Italy and have an old bedroom set all covered in veneer, some of it gouged and chipped. My idea about what to do with it changes with every furniture artist I watch. Probably not gold, because it's quite simple, almost stark, like so much Italian furniture. I can't wait to see ALL of your videos. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
It's obvious that you had a blast gilding like Kacha. You definitely took the dresser to the elegant side of glam- far more Bowie than Sir Elton. I admit it. I'm a little obsessive about certain things. I really like to prime separately. That way I can see all the little dings I missed filling the first time around. I've only used all-in-one paints on a few occasions, never without putting down at least one coat of primer first. I really enjoy some of the colors of Dixie Bell Silk but much prefer the feel of Melange. It is a luxury to paint with on a special project. Ultimately, I still prefer the versatility of relatively inexpensive chalk paint for most of my painted projects. I buy white Rustoleum by the gallon (preferably on sale at my local brick and mortar) then mix primary and black chalk paints into smaller amounts of it to achieve custom colors. I measure my recipes out every time on my gram scale and log them in a notebook just for that purpose, so I can find them again when making more of a color becomes an issue. I like finishing with waxes best but poly coat tops and pieces more likely to see a lot of wear, except for kids furniture. Then I stick to milk paint and beeswax regardless. Let them do their worst. It can always be refinished.
That's great! It seems like you've found the methods that work best for you, and there's nothing wrong with wanting to be precise or sticking to precision!! Happy New Year
An outstanding transformation! Gold can be so addictive. Kacha has a unique style. You asked about our favorite paint for furniture. I really enjoy DIY Paint. I just clean most pieces unless there's peeling veneer or missing/busted wood. Little to no sanding. Wonderful for working inside our homes. I painted a glass lamp with no problem. It contains both clay and chalk. (I do not work for the company, I am just a customer.)
Thank you!! Yes Gold isssss so addictive :) I haven't tried DIY paint yet but I love Debi's channel and whole vibe. I still need to try it!! Thanks for sharing :)
Great work. Looks beautiful with olive, gold and natural. I’ve only tried Rustoleum Chalk Paint which is very good, Dixie Belle Silk and Melange. Of the three, Melange was not only the best but wow, extraordinary!!! I used Melange One. I did prime because the piece was mahogany and I was afraid of bleed through. It definitely didn’t need a top coat and I painted it on with a brush. No brush strokes! And very smooth!! I love it and other furniture refinishers loved it too. Good luck! It’s not easy work but quite addictive. LOL
Hi Verena, I left the top drawer as is. Once I did the feed and wax and also some dry brushing around the sides it just sort of blends in. To me it adds character! But we shall see if it sells :) the scratches on the very bottom got covered in paint and are no longer noticeable, and all the drawer imperfections in the finish were solved with the feed and wax :)
Thanks! Yes the hardware is original. The gilding wax dries in 4 hours and then can be buffed after 12. It stays on… pretty permanently! Once you buff off the excess, I believe that the rest cures just like any other furniture wax

Would you please direct me to your hardware store? I looked in your about page but couldn’t find it. Thanks! You’re super talented and have inspired me to redo my furniture instead of spending thousands
You hit the mark. You are so cute. Not in the creepy, stalkery way but, more in the ol' grandpa way. WAIT, isn't the sort of thing a creepy deviate would say? Yeah, cute. K keep up the awesome work

Every time you added the gold to an area I thought.. ooo that's just the right amount of gold. It came out awesome. Perfect mix of vintage and modern.
Thanks Tammy!! Gotta go for the gold haha!

It’s dying for a wood u bend medallion over that weird spot on the front. You can even gild that! 😉 But overall very nice!

Great job! I see you’re using the purple sandpaper. What do you think?
Yes ma'am! I love it :) Thanks so much for sending that and the microfiber cloths!! So kind of you, and I really appreciate your support!

What did you do about the damage on the top drawer, and deep scratches on the bottom?
Hi Verena, I left the top drawer as is. Once I did the feed and wax and also some dry brushing around the sides it just sort of blends in. To me it adds character! But we shall see if it sells :) the scratches on the very bottom got covered in paint and are no longer noticeable, and all the drawer imperfections in the finish were solved with the feed and wax :)
How long does the gilding wax stay on the item? I love the hardware. I'm assuming they are original. The gilding wax really made them pop.

I have a sander!
Don’t know what the big deal is about K. Her pieces overall are very garish snd showy
I think she’s a wonderful artist who has a style all her own! I’ve learned a lot from her.
Rude! She has her own style and a lot of people appreciate it !
Lovely!
