I absolutely love my 16 Tacoma! All the new amenities, badass looks and Damn good gas mileage! Was a no brainer for our family!! Cool vid....but what's up with that tree lol
I'm assuming the tires aren't "pro-grade" aka not winter tires, should have mentioned it because that part where it got stuck and you guys had to push it out made the truck look bad.
They're what it came with, so not full-on snow tires. Also, if you don't get stuck at least once, you're not having fun - I don't think a quick need to shovel some snow reflects negatively on the Taco at all. Chains would have defiantly made it nearly unstoppable.
I agree about getting stuck and having fun, but it's embarrassing when the snow is barely deep enough to touch the rim... if you're stuck cuz the deep snow's touching the body, THEN you're having fun. To me this looks bad, I understand the importance of proper tires so it doesn't reflect negatively on the truck itself, but not every does.
The Frontiers are every bit reliable as the toyota's, in fact just a quick look at 2012 year models and they rank almost identical in 5 different categories with the tacoma having more recalls than the frontier.
Am I the only one that cringed when he made it to the top of the mountain and jumped out in tennis shoes? You are a brave soul. BTW, chains on those tires and that truck would be unstoppable.
+Xxwolfspirit7Xx I've never had a new car and have put money away because that's what I was told to do. I took some out for a downpayment and should have my trd offroad, next week...manual and access cab. can't wait. I had to have manual!
***** I will try! only have still pics at the mo. of it at the dealership. In Toronto Canada...I'm a little dense this eve., and can't think what ND stands for..
***** Ahh that's right; I was tired the other night.. Thanks. April 7, the funds will be released from my bank account. I just have to finalise some stuff with the insurance co., and basically get the money order and head to the dealership next week. the truck is all ready to go. Only thing in the near future I will do to it, is get it oil sprayed. Our vehicles take a beating here. The only thing I had the dealership do, was install a block heater. I hate those cold mornings and I know the engine does too. It isn't really extreme here like in the prairies, or way up north, but I see the benefits of plugging stuff in at work. I love getting heat out of the heater sooner. the block heater might spare the engine some wear over its life.
I lived in Alaska for 37 years. Driving in the snow like that we did 7 months every year. I would put my truck in 4wd in October and back in 2wd in late April...
Yeah I'd say once those tires wear out I'll probably put something a little more aggressive on mine. It's probably the main limitation in these conditions.
since its a press vehicle i'm guessing they couldn't have changed the tires? or it wasn't in the budget? they should've definitely aired them down some though
Good video but one thing I hear you say was the towing capacity was 6400. That is wrong. my 2007 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 TRD sport 4.0 v6 with tow package is good for 6500. the new v6 with tow package is good for 6800. also you did not talk about the bed options on the TRD off road.
im looking to buy my first new vehicle and i saw this and thought this was exactly what im looking for and i saw online Toyota makes a supercharger for the Tacoma so i was wondering if it was true?
I don't think they've released one for the 3.5L in the new Tacoma but there is a TRD supercharger available for the previous 4.0L so they probably will release one for the new engine at some point
+handas2 Thanks! Shooting in Slog2 always requires color correction in post since it's a super-flat, weirdly colored method for pulling the most dynamic range out of the sensor. We edited it on Final Cut Pro X and used a LUT we built in FilmConvert.
Does this thing come in stick?! I tried virtually building one on Toyota's website and only auto was allowed. I love this truck, but no way in hell I'll be buying it if it only comes in auto.
Dario Gomez The new crawler system that dig it's self out from sand. it wasn't made for digging itself out from snow and what I mean was the old Toyota with the manual stick to switch from 4wd. These new push button electronic isn't all great, they lack a lot if something happens you can't even get it to turn it off.
+UnderAchievr LP i bought a 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off road yesterday. Immediately took it into the woods and got it stuck in the snow. If it weren't for those shitty tires I would have got out no problem. It was like riding on donuts. My truck spent the night in the woods.
Electric 4wd, electric diffs and hugest one...crawl mode are complete friggin jokes! I want a TRD so bad, but I'm old fashioned to mechanical components over electric.
I thought the video was pretty pathetic. No way you should need 4lo and crawl control in that. My subaru wouldve got through everything that was displayed in this video
This is the most f-ing enchanting vehicle demo video of all time.
spagettist I have to agree with you . I keep watching it because I love winter wheeling in the mountains .
I bought my 2017 Tacoma in Sept 2016 and soon discovered this video and I have been back here every Christmas since then. Cheers!
Great cinematography! Horrible looking tree haha.
Lol!!! IKR!?!? Thought dude did this every year...enough to know a crappy lookin tree!
I absolutely love my 16 Tacoma! All the new amenities, badass looks and Damn good gas mileage! Was a no brainer for our family!! Cool vid....but what's up with that tree lol
I plan on getting one. Do you still own the 16? If so, How is it holding up?
They are all wrong, little tree, you are beautiful!
The beautiful presentation for this delightful truck!Merry Christmas and a New Year with joy!
Really nice 4x4 pickup. Really nice video. I wish Toyota would put a small turbo diesel along with the 6-speed manual in their top trim crewcab 4x4!
+opjoipopikopp[pl[p[ that would be toyota hilux 2.8 turbo diesel with 330 pound\feet of torque
Great video! You should also do a video like this with the new land cruiser and the 4runmer trd pro!
I'm assuming the tires aren't "pro-grade" aka not winter tires, should have mentioned it because that part where it got stuck and you guys had to push it out made the truck look bad.

+gwot truck is to lite is the problem. Needs some weight in the box for snow.
+Patrick Wainwright Try some goodyear duratracs if you don't think any tire is perfect for snow haha.
+gwot That wasn't stuck, that was showing the ability of crawl control. If you watch it back you will see that he hit crawl control and drove off.
Finally a reviewer who knows how to drive in the snow.
That's one good looking truck.
Great video! Wish it was 3x as long!
Beautiful shots.
great video... almost makes me want a Tacoma...
but i'll stay with my Pro-4x for now...
+acepotato For now ;)
+acepotato Drive a '16 TRD Off-Road and you'll change your mind instantly. Nothing personal, but Nissan is horrible quality.
4x frontier great truck, shitty resale
+Terminxman My 06 Frontier Nismo was, without a doubt, built better than my 12 and 13 Tacomas.
The Frontiers are every bit reliable as the toyota's, in fact just a quick look at 2012 year models and they rank almost identical in 5 different categories with the tacoma having more recalls than the frontier.
I'm pretty sure it's in its 21st year. Taco came to the market in 1995.
Am I the only one that cringed when he made it to the top of the mountain and jumped out in tennis shoes? You are a brave soul. BTW, chains on those tires and that truck would be unstoppable.
Best review video if have seen. Kudos to you.
I can’t wait till Christmas
beautiful video, my friend has black one
This makes me want one of these or a Pro trim. Wow. Toyota like our Camry too.
Man i really wish i had the money to custom order one. Id totally get it with a 6spd manual
+Xxwolfspirit7Xx I've never had a new car and have put money away because that's what I was told to do. I took some out for a downpayment and should have my trd offroad, next week...manual and access cab. can't wait. I had to have manual!
bababooey7576 Nice! upload some videos of it when you get the chance, if you ever get to ND let me know
***** I will try! only have still pics at the mo. of it at the dealership. In Toronto Canada...I'm a little dense this eve., and can't think what ND stands for..
bababooey7576 North Dakota . And good for you buddy, Still a dream of mine to own one in a manual

Who else cringed at the tennis shoes in a blizzard
Who cringed when they called that a blizzard? Light snow
Awesome video! Id love to take my Subaru up that road!
Just found this vid...awesome shots! Do you have a review of the GMC Canyon?
This was a beautiful video
Great video quality! Nicely done!
im not planing to going offroad but im conserider this for everydays drive how is it handle and drive freeway v,vv thank you.
Nice little trucks but they need some bigger tires and would be a little off-road beast
I love how there's a Jeep TJ @ 5:55
Ugly tree but a fantastic video nonetheless!!!
+scottd Thanks for watching! The tree looked much better once it had ornaments on it. ;)
Yeah I'd say once those tires wear out I'll probably put something a little more aggressive on mine. It's probably the main limitation in these conditions.
Great video. Gotta love the new Tacoma
Where is the blizzard??? In Minnesota that snow isn't mentioned on the news 😄😄😄
Beautiful review
Great video
How do you get stuck in 6" of snow??? I've driven a 1993 Toyota SR5 4x4 in 24" of snow and didn't even get stuck!
Nice truck, nice Jeep rescue vehicle, nice video. Put some real tires on the truck and watch out.
Really nice video
Was this filmed at Capitol Forest? Always cool to see WA on TH-cam!
Close. This was near Snoqualmie off Tinkam road.
since its a press vehicle i'm guessing they couldn't have changed the tires? or it wasn't in the budget? they should've definitely aired them down some though

Epic footages
If you had BFG All Terrain TAs, things would have been different.
Great job on the video. * * * * *
Really cool video
They made that look way more dramatic than it needed to be.
im looking to buy my first new vehicle and i saw this and thought this was exactly what im looking for and i saw online Toyota makes a supercharger for the Tacoma so i was wondering if it was true?

Very nice video👍👍👍
Can someone tell me who play the piano Christmas song in video?
This isn't the 11th year, its the first year in this body style and engine and transmission... the rest of the video is great though.
I used to always drive my 2004 Audi A4 with Quattro down these roads in Snoqualmie hahaha.
Usually boots go with snowy mountains :) lol
Greats trucks but will the frame still rust in half 🤔
How tall are you, what is your opinion of the seating position? Some say it is to low.
+Jay “Hampton214” Simpson If anything I thought the position could be a bit lower.
Thanks.
Talks about ground clearance and not getting high centered, gets high centered. lol I'm still buying one!
I have the TRD off road and once you change the tires out to good all terrain tire its extremely hard to get stuck.
all terrians? or Mt's?
I thought the dimensions were extended about 8 inches
Did they re-engineer the drum brakes?
Is this also a good daily driver, I don't off-road all that much.
Got stuck in the snow 😮 what happen?
2:01 The TRD OffRoad has a locking rear differential, not an LSD.
locking limited slip.....that is a thing....
Would be really nice if 2018 or 2019 models come with Diesel!
Buddy looks like he's about 6'3" or 6'4"
Blizzard? Really?? Around my parts we call that snow flurries.
This is America. -Childish Gambino
Around my parts we call that a State of Emergency. Everything in the state would be shut down.
How were the snow falling scenes filmed/edited?
+handas2 Shot at 240fps and conformed to 1080/30p on a Sony FS700R in Slog2 using Nikon lenses.
The slow motion snow looks really cool! Did you color correct in post? If so, what filter? Thanks!!
+handas2 Thanks! Shooting in Slog2 always requires color correction in post since it's a super-flat, weirdly colored method for pulling the most dynamic range out of the sensor. We edited it on Final Cut Pro X and used a LUT we built in FilmConvert.

It does.
+Jakub P You can't get the manual /w the limited trim. Doesn't look like you can option leather /w a stick either. :[
+Jakub P You also cant get the Access Cab Off Road with a 6 Speed either for some reason...
i have the 2016 tacoma acces cab base model with 4x4 manual and a 4 cylinder. i love it but the v6 would be better. 2.7 l is slower
In the Off Road V6 you have to get a Double Cab to get a Stick and in the TRD Sport V6 you can get the Stick in Access or Double Cab.
I can't wait to take my Tacoma in the mountains.
I can't help but laugh when people think heavy snow precipitation is a blizzard.
For the record... I have never had to have someone push me out of snow in my Taco..
Oregon Plates
Shouldn't you use chains ??
Do we really need the keyframed slo-mo in EVERY clip?
Slow mo was hot when we posted this and we had a FS700 with 4K 120fps Odyssey so we were all in.
Hahahah love the honesty!
I want a diesel Toyota pickup like the rest of the world.
Need better tires for the deep snow.
Tennis shoes?? LOL
I can get through all of that with my 1992 toyota pickup in 2 wheel drive or 4 high...granted I am a experienced off roader
Add chains all around and you can go further.
I really wish you would actually know more about what you're talking about
Definitely didn't need 4 low...
How tall is this guy? He looks like he's sitting in a go cart.
nice
The Tacoma is NOT on its 11th year
that's only for sand not for snow. that's why the older model has the best 4x4 over these new style
menger Vaj do you mean the ones with the 4x4 lever and diff lock?
Dario Gomez The new crawler system that dig it's self out from sand. it wasn't made for digging itself out from snow and what I mean was the old Toyota with the manual stick to switch from 4wd. These new push button electronic isn't all great, they lack a lot if something happens you can't even get it to turn it off.
The crawler system works in snow i have one and with the KO2 tires snow is not an issue or for that fact it is nearly impossible to get stuck
Nice truck for over 34k.
for $10, you could cut a better tree.
Way to find the dinkiest tree.
Yah those tires are crap... and probably in need of chains in the deep stuff...
+UnderAchievr LP

Damn all that to get to a shitty tree.... Bad ass truck tho.
I got my tacoma for 24k in 2007.
Electric 4wd, electric diffs and hugest one...crawl mode are complete friggin jokes! I want a TRD so bad, but I'm old fashioned to mechanical components over electric.
All that TRD (Tremendous Ridiculous Dollars) shit and you still need a push! Ha!
6:10 Stock Taco tires are garbage... They're only good on dry pavement. If/when I get a Taco the tires will be the first thing to go!
Jeez. . .all that driving to cut the down the worst tree on the mountain? And wearing jogging sneakers to do it! You're just asking for a cold!
I thought the video was pretty pathetic. No way you should need 4lo and crawl control in that. My subaru wouldve got through everything that was displayed in this video
why doesn't the hood have a heat shield????? That's going to cause paint problems later on in life!!!!
Ughh, vehicles are more expensive in Canada...arrrhghghgh
And ofc you need a jeep to take her out
lol
Love the video. Again ugly tree
So my dude here paid $10 and drove up mt. Everest to cut down a tree he could buy at walmart for $5?? Lol
Swagglikemine yeah because that's the point of the video. Sure man. Your a genius.
Luis Patino he said "it's tradition" that's why he paid 10
Original comment had me rolling😂
