I had a 1979 IT 175. Awesome bike! So powerful for it's size and very reliable. I think all the IT's were cool. I hope to find another to restore sometime soon. Very cool Ken! I so appreciate the videos you and Jr. put out. Thanks for all you do to keep these bikes and others like them alive. I know you probably loose your ass on most of them.......says a lot about who you guys are and what the museum stands for.....keep up the great work!
I had one was getting chased by cops they said i was going 75 then my piston blew but i can say my bike was not half as nice as yours but it still was a great woods ripper lots of fun.
Hade a it200 and its was bored over and was screemer once it was bored over it was nuts and i could take it out with friends on quads with the read lamp it was sweet
Not the same engine unfortunately, shares some parts but the cranks are different. I have been struggling to find an IT200 crank for a few years. The blaster's crank uses different sized bearings and the pto side of the crank is flipped with the mag side. IT had a right side chain, blaster was left size like most more modern bikes.
Bro co had an IT200 all blue. I had attempted riding it up the biggest hill at CV pits in Sugar Grove IL. in too high of a gear, and or failure to downshift whilst ascending. Right before reaching the crest, the bike and I began rolling backwards. Until I hit the rear break, at which time the bike and I began cartwheeling down the rest of the mountain. Both the bike and I emerged unscathed. Good times… noodle salad.
Just seen this video nice bike but after spending all that money upgrading the suspension and not upgrade to disc front and back I have a tt350 first thing I did woz change the rear wheel for a yz 250 wheel, the drum lug on swingarm fitted the caliper bracket perfectly altered brake pedal and mounted cylinder easy to do but its owners choice at the end of the day still a very nice bike though I'll be uploading a video of my tt350 soon its supermoto now if u are interested
Hmmmm WP forks with Ohlins sticks on them?? and painted pro taper bars that are 7/8 all the way across .... i don't think this guy have a clue oh and that killer OEM headlight oh yea think i will stick with that 387lbs XR650 LOL
Definitely missing the disk of the 86, excellent call. The only thing Im wondering, Its got an Ohlins front end on it, upside downers,, maybe the drum front is due to that? Im completely speculating here, but the forks may not have supported a disk. Wouldnt be the first time something like that went down. Also, he does mention the white tank, he specifically says its a Clarke tank (which makes sense because its clearly oversize), so without seeing the VIN, the jury is out lol.
@Mark Kus, yes, I agree with you, all the 86’s I saw or rode had the disk. However, none of the 86’s I rode or saw had Ohlins upside down forks on them. In fact, I can only remember Brad Lackeys RM500 having a set of USD’s on them (1982 factory Suzuki) that early on. Clearly, someone retro fit the Ohlins front end on this IT200. Im not sure if this was a period correct modification or not, but what Im saying is that its completely possible that this particular non-factory IT200 front end may have been set up for a drum brake. If that was the case, then whomever did this particular modification had no choice but to use a drum brake on this particular 1986 Yamaha IT200 that normally utilized a disc brake in stock form.
Glen Piro I agree most of the early upside down forks were too soft from what I hear even Rick Johnson who I’ve met did not like the early ones nice guy met him at Southwick
They actually look great with a matching blue seat... But replace that white tank! (Some old snaps of mine is at the end of this vid but I recovered the seat later) th-cam.com/video/QgE1dfVbElE/w-d-xo.html They did warp a little so a protection MOD was to run a smaller dia head mount bolt in the triangle clamp to allow any flex to move the bolt in the hole rather than pull at the head bolts. I added a 2nd side port and RoostBoost (an after market CDI inline with the original that came from a later DT200. The Roostboost took away the top end bog of the original CDI The 175K I had would probably be the lightest trailbike I ever had... I added GSX750esd sissy handles to the rear frame of the 200s and you just popped the bike on your hip and walked the front out of almost any bogs... If only my 99YZ was as light.
Had a brandey new one in 1986,loved it.Bought a 1989 KDX 200 brand new after that. The KDX was slightly better in my mind but this bike ROCKS!!
Ive always wanted a it 200 in the 90s in highscool i like air cool

Tacoma man that was my first real bike a 79’ IT175 F, what a tough ol girl she was. I love all IT’s
Beautiful classic ripper ! Love the older motorcycles ❤️
Yamaha IT's were the best bikes for Enduro wished they still made them today.
Mec Alpsha you and me both.
That was my era, beautiful bike and thanks for sharing 👍
I own a 84 IT200 still running very fun bike. Seems like the longer you ride it, and the hotter it gets, the better it runs.
Very nice it 200 Ken. Beautiful bike. Shouldn't take long for that one to sell. Good luck!
I just picked up jbl .headphones ,wow, the bike gets with the program. I think it is. Near perfect as you'll find .
Man I had one of these, what a great machine. Here's a good one. Anyone remember or had a PE? Those were freaking really a pissed off bike.
My brother had a 1986 great bike
I loved my It200S and it200L in the 80s and I love your channel but that ain't the original factory headlight or shroud dude.
jeffahearn I’d love to ride it though, it’s pretty trick.
Yeah it looks older. I have a 1984 it200 headlight and shroud up in the garage in decent shape. Only thing I got left of that bike.
1986 had a front disc brake also
My earbuds reveled you’re only recording sound on the left channel..till you went out to ride it.
My 86’ IT200 had YZ 250 suspension, she was a rippa!
I had one was getting chased by cops they said i was going 75 then my piston blew but i can say my bike was not half as nice as yours but it still was a great woods ripper lots of fun.

One of my friends had a IT 200 back in high school. Allegedly, Yamaha used the IT 200 engine later on in their Blaster ATVs.
It was the Dt200L 37f that shared the same BE as the Blaster, I own a 1987 DT200L, a 1995 DT200R and a 2006 SE Blaster
What a beauty

Yamaha for life!
❤❤❤ wow
Where can I get one of those gas tanks
I bought an it200 frame with no engine and the sprocket is on the eight side. I can't find an engine with a right side drive shaft. What do I do?
Hooligan bike!

I have an IT 200L Nearly as good as this with an 200 S front end, ohlins rear shock from a CR 250 . Does anyone know what taillight lens that is ?
someone put some money in that bike
Silencer is super trick, kool
Anyone know the name and make of the silencer??? I can't find it anywhere!
Just missing a DG pipe & muffler 👍
that had a drum front brake, 85’ thats an N
I’m in love
Hmmmm WP forks with Ohlins sticks on them?? and painted pro taper bars that are 7/8 all the way across .... i don't think this guy have a clue oh and that killer OEM headlight oh yea think i will stick with that 387lbs XR650 LOL
Answer the phone! LoL... Nice IT
They go well but the engines are as fragile as a paper plane.
I never had a moments trouble. 2nd gear all day in oatmeal, I ran race gas she stayed cool
It’s a 1985 the 1986 had a disc front brake
South America has the DT 200 a liquid cooled version and Yamaha I believe still makes those great bike

Glen Piro every 1986 I saw had a disc brake on the front and right hand drive
