    I already have the SpatialLabs 15" screen. I'm sold on the idea of this new camera! I hope someday I can afford the 27" monitor as well. I love the depth of knowledge you have on this subject.

      @@jonathansabinvarietyfilms - no tech specs. Nothing about 4K or connectivity. People want to know if a camera has a usb and / or hdmi connectivity, how the 3D capture can be edited, whether or not it's UHD or HDI or DCI, if there is a microphone input, what focal length the lens is, etc.

    • @jonathansabinvarietyfilms

      Again it was just announced yesterday for release later this year and there is no information on the inputs or controls. It IS 4K though as shown in the samples, and you can download them yourself on that page.

    I've just discovered your TH-cam site and found this particular video of great interest. I immediately realized you were recording the video in Red/Blue anaglyphy. Could you refer me to particular application / technology or computer program you're using in this particular video? If you've already covered this in an earlier TH-cam video, a link/reference to that video would also be appreciated. Best Regards from Houston TX - USA

      Welcome! I filmed this with the iPhone 15 but there are other options. As for editing, I’ve found the best software to be Powerdirector, versions from 2023 and earlier (I use version 15.) My video regarding editing can be found here: How To Edit Stereoscopic 3D

    Hi Jonathan,
    Wouldn’t it be nice if there were more cameras spread in line with the small stereo base set that are now on the Lume Pad 2. Tablets are wide enough to make nice hyper stereo shots if there is an extra camera on the opposite corner. Of course another one for a 63mm stereo base, and one at the middle of the tablet would make it a dream tablet for us to play with this long awaited choice of stereo base combinations. Even better; one of the lenses sliding on a rail, but I think that this will be more difficult to design, as the lens should move very precise along the rail.

      Yes a variable interaxial 3D camera has been dreamt of by 3D enthusiasts for decades but apart from self made rigs hasn’t been done yet.

    Great video Jonathan. This camera looks very interesting, for all sorts of reasons - one of which is that a manufacturer seems to be taking a 3D camera fairly seriously! My assumption is that Acer started working on this when is became apparent that Apple was working on the Vision Pro, and they wanted to get in on being able to offer some "supporting tech" for that piece of hardware. As excellent as it may be, I'm still not remotely convinced that the Vision Pro is going to be one of Apple's success stories, but if it is responsible for encouraging other companies to make 3D cameras, then that's great. I could, of course, be wrong about all of that.

    Have Acer ever mentioned their camera having an on-the-fly 'Horizontal Disparity Adjustment' for easier 3D viewing, similar to the iPhone 15 Pro and LP2? Or is it like my Qoocam Ego, where you need to adjust the convergence point afterward using an editing program on your computer to make the photos and videos more comfortable to view?

    • @jonathansabinvarietyfilms

      No word on that from what I know. Personally I haven’t seen an automatic stereo window placement that I like, so I turn it off when possible.

      No, but their SpatialLabs Player does provide this feature. You can adjust how much the image pops in or out of the monitor. It's great for reducing ghosting, too.

    Getting back to basics with a 3d camera - hopefully they make sure the camera doesn't overheat (really, does a camera need wifi?) and that it has a replaceable batteries available in a moments notice (this goes with the wifi idea as well - long battery life). I used to love using the aiptek. It was so practical. The picture and audio sucked. But it was practical. If they could just give us a camera with such practicality with the improved sound and the 4K. And batteries. Lots of batteries.

  • @sanderkiesel1965
    @sanderkiesel1965 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hi Jonathan,
    I can’t find information about the battery the new Acer camera uses. They mention that you can charge it by the USB port. This gives me the feeling that it is a fixed one. That would be a bummer. End of life of the battery will result in high costs for replacement. Also we have to carry an external power pack with us for the longer sessions. I hope it is replaceable, and it is not an exclusive model, made for this camera only.

If you check out the SBS version of this same episode it’ll work properly in some browsers and on smart tv devices like Roku or fire stick, but that also is converted to red/blue in most browsers and apps. TH-cam sadly took away the full 3D format selections years ago which made things harder.
