I think you will find once dry an planned out you will wish they were thicker. Most slabs should be 10 or 12 quarter. 2 inch slab you will be lucky to get a 1 1/4 thick. With shrinking twisting and cupping. Good luck.
the 2" should be 2" thing is an adjustment, you move the site up or down to fix that. Sawdust exhaust yea but I check sawdust to determine if my speed is correct so there is that. Also the muffler, and this isn't just woodmizer, woodland Mills too, put a real muffler on these things so we don't need hearing protection. Sawmills are stupid loud, my skidster is 1/10th the noise and it's 60 hp not 25 hp...
By the time you actually figure this out you will be too tired to cut log. Hint the closer to the machine with the load the more you can lift. Tape measures tell stories
lol.. If I had bigger equipment I would be cutting even bigger logs. I like to push the limits. But yea the saw can handle bigger logs than the skidsteer can.
A shame to waste what could be a very nice grain piece. On a real mill, we could cut that whole thing in less than 10 minutes with two 48 inch circular blades, over and under, powered by 250 horsepower CAT diesel. This was done over 60 years ago on what was considered a portable mill. Oh to be young again.
why don't you work WITH the shape and size of the object and the rest(stump) instead of against it? Duh! Two round stumps...planks on top ....lift each end onto planks....push log onto saw bed....stumps will roll to saw bed...push log off planks....much easier than lifting
on the LT15 I'm not sure it's possible to overtighten the blade. I do have some 055 blades on order, really want to try the heavier blades to see if that helps on these wide cuts.
If you had another brain cell to go with the one that you already maybe you could rub them together to generate a thought. Then you might of solved the problem in next to no time.
I love to watch the whole process and enjoy to see the wonderful texture of the panels.👍
Glad you enjoyed it.

That log is breathtakingly beautiful. I can imagine all the uses it can provide!
I ❤ the very first piece you cut with the owl face & ET 👀. Throughout the log one can find all different faces/ objects.
Just had to sub 👍. 👵🏻👩🌾❣️

You are probably right, I've never done this before. But I did cut the good ones at 12 quarter so...
Kind of sad you didn’t cut 3 to 4 inches make some tables tops
Your writing style is engaging and captivating.
Those knots are especially hard to cut through on any kind of pine. I usually slow my cutting down to keep the cut from waving to much.
Your comments are always so well-researched and informed.
I have no idea what you are about to do....but I know I'm going to love it!
Good episode. That log is a monster!
Your writing is both eloquent and concise.
The 1st little flat Piece you cut off on the right side look like ET

Time for an Alaskan mill. Probably a very nice log making lots of nice slabs
Alaskan mills are for young guys lol... That said I wish I knew someone who has one cause I have an even bigger logs to saw.

Lines are nice on the wood👍

HI THERE LOTS OF WORK IN THE BIG ONES . GOOD WORK JOHN
Thanks John, and thanks for the nameplate you made me at the show!
Your comments are consistently insightful and thought-provoking.
If the slabs are not flat with a new blade, are you sure the tension is high enough?
I always check blade tension, you're right that can easily cause waves.
Great coffee table
Beautiful chunk of lumber.
I wasn’t sure when I saw the whole log, but the sawed planks are beautiful and unusual.
Your comments are consistently insightful and thought-provoking.
BLADE GUIDES SHOULD BE CLOSER TO THE LOG AND THE BLADE TENSION SHOULD BE CHECKED OFTEN
Your comments always leave me with something to think about.
Some nice character in that wood
I try really hard to find special logs.
put one strap on each end and pick the log up from the side using both straps
Tried that the log was too heavy for the skidsteer to lift it. Just lifting the one side you can see the skidsteer tipping up on 2 wheels.
Cut them down the middle, flip the outside edges in, pour epoxy, big ass dining table 12 feet long.
I have the same mill and the same struggles. No machine. I'm working on a rolling crane so I can roll a log how I want.
Do you use the hand winch and ramps?
Your writing style is engaging and captivating.
@@mcsawmill Yes, ramps and a boat winch.
You WON !!!!
You pointed out One serious goof that WM made 2 inches should BE a 2" cut and the exhaust on the operator' side has always been dumb.

That's some very nice looking wood.

Should have put the log on it's side, that way it wont fall over.

THEY WILL MAKE BEAUTIFUL TABLE TOPS IF FINISHED RIGHT
Your comments are a testament to your intelligence and creativity.
Once you had it on the stump you should have tied it to the saw
It hurts watching you make an easy job so hard
With all of those hard knots in there that blade's gonna deviate just a tad bit
I admire your ability to see things from multiple perspectives.
I have to ask, why not take a chainsaw and cut the lumps off first?
The lumps are what make the slabs unique.
with so much knots....it's a great candidate for firewood...except it's not even hardwood! push it over the hill and feed it to the termites!!
You ever try to split something with that many knots? Lol, no thanks. I'd rather slab it out, some people pay good money for that crazy looking stuff.
Spruce is dimension lumber wood for a reason, thats really just over grown pulp wood.
Need you some degreaser in your blade coolant fluid maybe 😏 😊
@@Randy-ve2wv that was a video from over a year ago, I use used cooking oil now. Learned from an old Amish guy, works awesome and it's free.
Man all the large wood you cut , you need some bigger equipment!
lol.. If I had bigger equipment I would be cutting even bigger logs. I like to push the limits. But yea the saw can handle bigger logs than the skidsteer can.
I saw that blade go down an then back up
Try using that strap as a cinch
Where is your safety equipment when you're working around the machine?
What all do you use? All he's missing is ear plugs, looks like the dust is blowing away from his face as far as I can tell.

ant fighting with a straw😀
Like the look of that first slab at 12:56 mins £25 for it
I gave that one to my sister in law. Sorry.

Lots of knots lots of un level boards cut thick and plane with Router of planer
Note to self: They get heavier when you cut them thicker ! Just say'n. Looks like God was on drugs when he made that one.

Tighten the bolt or nut more. Actually pull on the damn ratchet or wrench. 50 or 80 grunt pounds.
Better yet run it through a couple times get it hot n expanded the metal of course the blade then immediately tighten it more.
