John, why on earth don't the tour guides educate their people on how to behave and stop them touching the horses!!
The LifeGuards need to bring the nippers over not the new horses. Rarden, Tyranny and Orion would soon sort out the idiots.

I was beginning to think the first guard just gave up and didn't care, then he finally said don't touch the horse, but it took the stableman to probably say something for him to stop all this madness. Dozens of hands reaching out at once. THIS ISN'T A PETTING ZOO!
The stable man said something, for sure. He even pointed to the sign when speaking to the guard on the horse.

I totally agree, she seems to be the only one who does anything. I have seen about 4 male police officers have a big chat, then something has gone down and she is dealing with it all on her own. HUGE RESPECT FOR THE SENIOR POLICE WOMAN.

People choose to ignore the signs. They want to do what they want to do. If this is presented as an attraction, then folks will treat it as a Disneyland amusement. It would be interesting to find out why they do not want the signs on both sides of the Guards and horses???? When the people come out of the center gates they cannot see the sign on the right. Then that becomes their excuse for putting their hands on the horse. Also, why aren't the guards letting people know not to touch the horse when they start petting them?
John do people think they are entitled to touch the horses? So why would there be a problem when people are reminded not to touch the horse?
Whether they can shout or not is up their higher ups.
I live 20 minutes away from horse guards. I’m retired and disabled. If I were fit I would happily volunteer my time to go and stand there and constantly point and shout out the rules. I wonder if there is anyone in this chat who could volunteer? Just a suggestion. 😁

Watching this I am getting really cross 😡😡 that the guard isn’t telling the tourists to leave the horse alone , WHY WHY WHY , he was told to do so . Need signs either side of the horse . Certain nationalities do not have any spacial awareness , just push in front of everyone , sooo rude . Hope the Life Guards get the memo to tell the tourists DO NOT TOUCH THE HORSES , they are way behind the Blues and Royals doing it . Oh the guard does have a voice , shame we didn’t hear him earlier !!!!

I have noticed that some of the tourists actually look at the sign and still attempt to touch the horse.
But, it's up to the Troopers to enforce the rule.
They should at all times protect their horse.

So have I. I would love to visit in real life and tell some of these tourists off. Only the people that live close to the horse guards really know what's going on.
Someone suggested a few days ago to have some sort of ring camera in the box, and have someone watching and say "don't touch the horse" - and the tourist would have no idea where the voice was coming from 😄
I yell at them all the time. I know they can’t hear me, but makes me feel better.
This is a military installation and needs to be controlled. It is not a fun fair amusement park, and these soldiers are not there for the amusement of the masses. If people can't show some respect and ability to behave in such a place, then lock it down or put the tourists in viewing areas where they cannot interfere with the duties of these serving soldiers.

I totally agree with you there should be at least a 3 metre NO GO zone around the horse boxes and the numbers in the yard should be limited. Otherwise signs on both sides of the box.

The way this is organized is not working. Military personnel need to be far more assertive. Strongly worded, loud instructions must be delivered, and tourists sent packing at least 30 feet back. Tourists are doing whatever they like, which is an appalling situation. The signs are being ignored!
Why bother with any signs if the guard is not going to reinforce the message. If there are too many people swarming the poor horse, they need to put an extra guard on to police the tourists.
The guards have had boiling hot days in that heavy hot dress garb, so maybe catching a nap, it's quite a skill snoozing with eyes set at slit to try and see if a superior is suddenly in front.
The guards are *not* to blame for the tourists' behaviour! Whether they can shout or not is up to their higher ups!

As I have said before. If the horse can turn his head either way and touch a tourist, THE TOURISTS ARE TOO BLOODY CLOSE!!!

I don't think the closeness is really the issue, if the tourist respectfully approach the horse. So many tourists are anxious to push in ahead of others and they zip up on the poor horse. It's a wonder the horses haven't bitten someone directly in the face. I'd startle if someone zoomed up in my space. They think these Regal working Horses are just pets.

It is truly relaxing and enjoyable to watch when the horses aren’t touched. It’s just looking at the beautiful horses, following the traditional ceremonies and people watching. Nice. Also, John, it feels so personal that you like us (the people who follow you) enough to actually go above and beyond what is expected by filming when you aren’t well. Thank you for the thought you put into us.

I am so glad the stableman came out and talked to the boxman. It turned Horse Gaurd back into a military base instead of a petting zoo.

Yes. He’s was told to keep people off but 2 minutes later they swarm in again and he does nothing. The tourists must be told to keep a metre away from the horses. It’s that simple. I am getting so angry. Grrrr.

The police ought to arrest the tourists for touching the guards or horses. They have been warned so there is no excuse.
This horse has behaved extremely well considering the amount of people how have surrounded him but i am sure he does not want people mauling him continuously and this not healthy for the horse. The guard has managed the situation well with the immense crowding
So the trooper in forms this trooper on the horse not to let anyone touch, and he still doing it . he should be removed from doing horse duty as he cannot follow rules. So sad when people cant do there jobs.

It is the responsibility of the Mounted Guards to enforce the Prohibition Sign. They are in control of the horses. The Sign alone will not enforce by itself! What’s the point of having it posted on the wall & allowed tourist to ignore it? As a matter of fact, these Guards are the root cause of tourists defiance for not enforcing the rules of authority & for that reason, I am beyond furious about the situation. If you want to be taken seriously & respected by tourists, show them you mean business once & for all, British Army! 🇬🇧

Personally, I have no doubt that the troopers have been instructed not to raise their voice to the tourists. Compared to last year, or just a couple of months ago, you never hear the mounted troopers shouting at anyone any more. All you see now is them quietly advising the tourists not to touch. Frustrating for all concerned I'm sure.

The Blues & Royals have proven this can be done. Without shouting, I might add. Without all the touching, people don’t need to be as close and get their pictures much more quickly, keeping the crowd moving. Win all around. Why are these guards not getting that???

Good morning John, you are right these tourist are out of control with there entitlement that they can do what they want? It’s embarrassing to have to watch people act like complete idiots. However the soldiers need to speak up and lay down the law. When you’re dealing with a live animal like a very big horse it’s important that the gates men to get out and stop the idiots from making a fool of themselves. I don’t understand how watching these tourist they don’t see the sign that clearly says don’t touch the horse
That was crazy how all those people were crowding the horse and didn't care whose way or pictures they got into. No consideration of others at all including the poor horse. No wonder there are nippy horses there. I would be too with all that constant pushing and touching. We need that police woman there.

If it's going to be a rule it has to be enforced. What accountability will rule breakers receive? Their mind set is all that will happen is they will say to stop. As with anything human nature will push boundaries. In all fairness the troopers may have not received orders to stop it.

I definitely would not call a soldier lazy! Probably he hasn't been given orders about the signs. The Life Guards just don't seem to know what to do about it. I blame the higher ranks of the regiment for not giving orders on what to do.

It is possible they are doing what they are told to do. With all that London is going through right now politically, I wouldn't be surprised if these 'softer' instructions have come down straight from the top. But I haven't a clue and yes, it bugs me big time. When they let one person do it, everyone else thinks it is ok.

I don't understand why the guard is allowing people to touch the horse! Especially when there are so many people! This is especially nerve racking for the horse to have all these hands on him/her. If you're not going to enforce the rules, then don't allow him to be on the horse.
Just as long as the tourists get their photos they do not care about the horses wellbeing what is wrong with these people. I think there should be a box painted on the pavement that is an exclusion zone and no tourists are allowed in it to give the horse and the guard space.

The stable man who told the tourists to move back was in the box last year. He had no problem shouting at the tourists. He has a very distinctive voice

Great video. I don't know why people think the signs are for others, not themselves. Crazy. Also, the other day, you said your pole was too hot to hold in the heat. Go to a sporting goods store buy hockey stick tape and wrap it around where you hold the pole it can help.

Just had a new idea for the sign. First of all both walls should have the posted sign, as I have heard mention more than a few times. Secondly since no one is heeding the “ Don’t touch the horse” rule how about “Touching the horse will result in $ fines “!. Hitting someone’s wallets might get their attention faster. Also the additional money could go into a Guardsmen’s fund to pay for a yearly appreciation party for all of their hard work 🎉❗️

I love watching the beautiful horses, the signs have to be bigger and on both sides of walls. Iam from AUSTRALIA and the horses were very important in my family, treated ring you will have a beautiful part of your family, it upset me to see how people are treating them. This my view and thank-you for what you are putting out. 😊🙏
Are some people so numb they don't react when a horse starts stomping around in or out of the box? When a huge animal like that starts tossing his body, legs or feet about there is an excellent chance I may climb the nearest person, or at the very least, get out of the darned horse's space! These people just stand there smiling at the camera, not giving an inch. ARE THEY NUTS??

John I am concerned about some of the rhetoric. Yes we would all like the horses to have more protection but who are your followers to demand that troopers should be fired. We do not know what orders they have been given. Presumably if HCAV are unhappy with individual troopers they will be reprimanded, if not its not our business. Secondly what is the purpose of the signs are they warning signs to absolve the MOD of responsiblity in the case of members of the public being bitten or injured.
It would be interesting to learn if they are happy with them.

As far as other filmers are concerned - I saw recently with another filmer, there was quite an announcement from the MoD police about their type of filming and following the guards. Maybe that's why some of them kept their distance so as not to risk a ban.
Once again, can we stop blaming the guards who are just simply doing their job and following orders? They're *NOT* responsible for the tourists' behaviour!
many are questioning why certain guards are not following the new Rule/Order - they are army soldiers in ceremonial dress and following Rules is a mandate not a personal option -
