Hey guys, thanks for watching. The 3 most common questions I’m getting in the comment section are: 1) will it last long? 2) 3000w peak power is not possible. 3) that’s not a line array I reached out to ProReck and got a few answers: To answer the first question, they do have a 1 year warranty on it (I should have added that to the video). And they’ve also sold products on Amazon for 10 years and said they respond to customer service inquiries within 48 hours. A 1 year warranty is definitely helpful. I will just say, that’s always part of the risk when buying cheaper. Take care of it, and don’t push this thing beyond its limit and with a 1 year warranty included, you should be good 👍 2) the peak power of 3000w seems very very unlikely to be reached. But as I mentioned, continuous and RMS is more important. I’m trying to understand some of this myself, and they sent over the graph of their subs hitting 400W each and the tops hitting 100W each, so 1000W RMS, which is the amount you should be looking at anyways. They said there is a 3:1 ratio that is applied to many speakers, which I’ve done a little more research and I’ve found other discussions on Reddit claiming this as well, with multiple people saying “how is that possible?” Lol. So my understanding is that “peak” should often just be ignored as it’s unlikely to reach that level. And especially how I emphasize I wouldn’t use this for more than 200/250 people for a band should be taken into consideration more than the peak wattage (and that’s true for other systems as well… pay attention to continuous and RMS). 3. I should have shown how it does angle the speakers like a line array, and you can build on them. I filmed it, but never added it. These are NOT going to be a large line array like you see at festivals, but they do have that curved shape and you can add more. There does seem to very a disagreement on what counts as an actual “line array” system it seems like as well (some call the EV 50 system “line array” for example). They do angle the speakers, or you can have them flat, and you can add more on top. That might be a better way to understand it 👍 One final point that others have pointed out: my band is a 3 piece and we do have a smaller drum kit. Having a larger band might produce different results. We are also all direct and in ears in my band. A full drum kit and large guitar amps might get different results. But for most bands I think it will be okay within the limitations I mention in the video. Again, the 8000 option is also available for larger projects and They do also have the PR-212T system for bigger projects as well. Thanks again for watching as well as for the questions and comments. Hope that helps! 🤘🤘
i think Peak rating is always an ideal thing, tested with the 1k sine wave or something... haha i don't fully understand it either, but i never look at peak. i worked in MI and at a certain point every company only told the Peak rating to make it seem louder than it really is. gotta search for the continuous number, or just divide by 2.
i'm so glad they got back to you on this, a 1000w system is nothing to sneeze at especially if it sounds good and it's a good sign that they are comfortable talking real numbers like that.
My rule of thumb is look for the peak SPL - wattage is not really meaningful as speaker efficiency varies so much. And then when you have the peak SPL number, knock at least 10db off and you will have what you are actually going to get in reality. Our band PA system runs at just under a measured 120db full chat (the manufacturers figures are 2x15 1000w peak subs and 2x12 + compression driver 1200W peak full range tops). We play mostly outdoor events for up to 200 people with a full drum kit, keys, 2 guitars, bass and 4 vocals.
I mean, how much power can you spect for a 600 dollar speakers? We need to learn that every speaker and equipment in general has their limits and to not ask them to do more than they’re designed for.
I am a diesel mechanic by day and wedding singer/DJ on the weekends. I have a nice Peavey 115D system with a powered 18" sub. I've had the system for nearly 10 years and it still works great but, as my audiences got bigger, I decided I needed a little more punch from my rig. I bought this exact ProReck Club 6000 system at the end of summer 2023. I initially bought it as an add-on to my Peavey system for more sound. It became apparent very quickly that all I needed to pack for my gigs would be the ProReck system. This thing is STUPID POWERFUL and CLEAR for the money!! I run my DJ contoller into the system and just pull down the highs and mids ever so slightly, brightness issue solved!!! I've never had a need to turn the sub volume or master volume past 75%. I have yet to get close to maxing this system out. I've ran it every weekend for the past 10 months (sometimes twice a week) without fail. I also had local bands running their sound thru my ProReck system without issue. This thing ABSOLUTELY ROCKS!!!
Hi, I am very interested in this 6000 series….i have a couple questions: do the tips run in full range or do they cross over at the frequency the sub is set for? ( if not, do the 6” tops distort?) 2) was thinking of larger top cabinets initially ( like 10”) with one 18” powered sub….how do you find the 15” subs for low end extension as well as bump? Will I be disappointed with the 15’s relative to an entry level 18” ( like soundtown). Lastly, do you have a recommendation for a small basic EQ to tailor sound…. I am a recreational dj only that helps friends out when they need music and some sporting events outside. Thank you in advance. Ps-Scott, just watched video on the set up with dual 12’s….how is that bass output relative to the 2-15” of the 6000 series. Thanks again.
@curtissanjenko285 the tops pretty much handle everything from about 80hz and and up. I have the 15's handling everything from 75hz-40hz. The subs can sound a little shallow for my taste when hitting 45hz or lower, so I also use a single Peavy 18D sub for that ultra low rumble at 40hz and below. My Denon MC7000 DJ controller has a built in 3 band EQ I use to fine tune the sound. Hope this helps
Scott … I’ll say it again and again … your substantive content on your videos is unmatched … and you continue to get better and better on how you deliver the messages on your videos … just absolutely fantastic …. no one is even close to being so helpful for musicians understand so many important topics … Scott Uhl = “TOP SHELF” …. thank you again ….
Thanks Scott. Great detailed review. I showed it to my band and it instantly convinced them to pull the trigger on the 6000 to replace our patchwork system.
Wow - so incredibly thorough and understandable. great camera work and highlighting the video to support the review. All I can say is "Great Scott" 👍 - Thank you
I'm in a hard rock/heavy metal band and we've been running a 14 mic board mix through 2 Club 4000's about 2 years now for crowds up to 600 people just fine.
Just wanted to stop by to say thank you (again) for the review. Very well done. We picked one of these up for my new cover band based on your review. We haven't used it for a live show yet, but have run it at practice twice. This thing absolutely thumps! What an incredible value! Thumping low end, great clarity, and super portable. I just wanted to confirm for others that your comment about cranking up the gain on the PA and sending a lower signal to it was spot on. We tried barely turning up the volume of the PA, like maybe 25%, and would get this awful distortion from the lead vocalist's mic. We trouble shot everything, the mic, the cables, the snake, the board, and couldn't figure it out. Then, remembering your review, I turned the volume on the PA up to about 75%, and turned the master send from the board down. Problem solved. The additional headroom from the PA is definitely necessary. But now everything sounds fantastic. It can handle our 4-piece alternative cover band swimmingly. Thanks!
Awesome! Thank you for sharing, and glad to hear you enjoy it! And yeah, you definitely have to crank the speakers up for sure. That makes it sound much better. Thanks again and enjoy 🤘🤘
I am 74 and started playing in the NW when I was 16. PA of choice, Bogen amp with Atlas horns. The bigger the Bogen and horns, the bigger and better you were perceived by the audience and other bands. I had a shure standup column portable PA. Very versatile and portable. And then….lots o PA stuff….big investment….you guys and gals are so lucky to have such versatile and affordable gear. More time to play, right?
Bogens still occasionally pop up for sale, but only converted to use as guitar amp. & I've NEVER seen an Atlas horn. Unfortunately. (I'm into vintage hifi). At least i don't believe i have.
Just ordered some using your code! Had a small set of speakers and loved Prorecks products. Wanted to upgrade for mixing music and ran across your video! Can't wait to try them out.
Hey Scott & friends. I did a gig in SF they had the 3000 version. I brought my gear too just in case but with this 3000 someone had inserted a 1/4 into combo jack 1, and the tip of the 1/4 got wedged in so I couldn't use a 1/4, but an XLR still worked.1:25 left side channel one. I still could not get this system to sound good direct in (mic and guitar) or mixed out from my JBL PRX One. So I opted not to use it at all. Another event a week later at the same event which was just DJ, we hoped to just line in from the DJ Controller 1/4 into channel 2 (using a Koogo guitar wireless transmitter as a wireless AUX) and then MY tip of the 1/4 was ripped off so now both of their combo jacks have 1/4 tips in them. So something to keep in mind. Also the 3000 speaker out I don't know if they do stereo with the mix out (Scott any input?) There is a stereo 1/4 3/4 input on the 3000 (interesting there isn't one fo the 6000) that we may have to use moving forward to save us bringing all our gear when they should have decent system with these. I also assume one of their previous vendors may have blown the speakers (tops) at their roof top pool parties, because it sounded like trash. Probably trying to push more sound outdoors than the 3000 version could handle. Happy gigs!
Thanks for sharing! I haven’t used the 3000s, but definitely do not push your speakers too hard, that’s probably the number 1 issue with these is people pushing them beyond the limitation
Scott. I believe this was the Most honest, Informative and usefull review I have seen on a PA system EVER. Most of all "Honest" review with Video clips and weighing pros and cons and practical use cases.. GREAT JOB My Man.. I think I might get this whole system instead of getting a single Mackie 15" Sub for around the same price just to try it.
Happy to help! :). Sorry if the camera moves a bit- even after 7 (SEVEN! 😂) years, I have never seen the same show twice - and I still can’t help but dance to certain songs! 🥰
Thanks for the comprehensive review and recommendation. Also, you are a natural teacher / instructor. Your video is very well crafted and easy to learn from. Like any good teacher...you lead in a certain direction but you allow the "student" to make up their own mind. Rare! Bravo!
Just got this system about a month ago and played a few outside, backyard parties with it. The band and I are amazed at how nice this thing is. May not be the highest quality sound but when you factor transportation, wiring, volume etc, this thing is a steal! I'm so happy with it! And thank you Scott for the discount.
Thanks for the comment! Glad it’s worked well for you. And yeah, it’s not going to give you the best sound on the planet, but for the price you can’t beat it!
Hey Scott, just wanted to stop by and say since I started watching your channel recently I have taken you up on your recommendations on economical wireless products along with your KLIQ AirCell Guitar strap you have been spot on these items. Thank you for all your in depth input you provide this community. Keep them coming..
@@ScottUhlMusic Yes it definitely helps with keeping that pain away. I also sent you an email, if your going to be in Georgia anytime soon or this year, would love to come out and meet you as well.
Your review was very helpful. Watching this video helped me choose the 6000 and was thinking of the 8000. For my band needs the 6000 is more than enough. Also, thank you for the discount code.
Hey Scott, great video! So I picked one of these systems up. Very impressed! Amazing low cost system! Not QSC, but EQ and processing can make it sound pretty good. Already used it for an all day acoustic band showcase. It worked great! I've since purchased additional active subs for a little more low end. One trick I came up with...using my dbx DriveRack PA2, I'm driving the tops with the main input using the 'high' output of the PA2. The dbx crossover is set accordingly. The subs are being fed mono by the mic input using the PA2 'mid' output tuned for low end, and my additional subs are fed mono by the PA2 'low' output. The built in crossover in the Proreck is still active, but feeding the specific bands into the 2 different inputs gives me a little more control.
Oh nice! Thanks for the advice on that, and I agree completely, they aren’t QSC, but are still completely useable and you can’t beat that price! Thanks again for commenting 🤘
Great video, Scott! The live stuff is really great to see how you pull off the 90s thing without a bass player on stage. $600.00?????? Especially Being a DJ!!!! Very cool!
Another great review Scott...I think 80% of my budget gear has come from your recommendations...swiff wireless for my practice rig, phenyx pro for my in ears, and now I may have to consider pro rec as a viable option! Much appreciated.
These got me excited when I was looking for a PA. I decided against purchasing when I saw some negative reviews about reliability. I'd be interested to hear your opinion on this in 6 months or a year, just to see if they broke down on you.
Great point on the audience often doesn’t realize what we do.. just tossed some serious coin on a QSC rig,.. 2 kw153, 4 ks118, 4 k12.2.. venue size aside, I’ll probably be the only one who would ever notice the difference.. $16000usd vs 650.. or even the 1200.. if it’s actually usable, no brainer.
It truly is a factor, the audience wants to hear their favorite songs and be entertained. They aren’t wondering “what’s with the 1k brightness? And should they use the phase inversion on the subwoofer?”
I really like that you did this system review. I have been using mine as a DJ for the past 6 months. I did have an issue with the powered subwoofer and proreck immediately after a video and images of the problem sent out a replacement. I do notice to high/mids are very, very bright and tend to lower my mixer. I have used just the subs with EV tops and they sound great. Nice video, great review, and I am very happy with my purchase 👌👍
This is great timing! I have the Proreck Party 10 and love it. 2 speaker system for like $500, and it sounds great. Very easy to setup and for a 10" sub with 4 x 3" tweeters it packs a punch. I have been thinking of grabbing the Club 6000, so, excited that you're doing this review. Whenever I need gear, your YT channel is the only place I need to go. Thanks for all you do to help us out!
Super powerful I needed a PA urgently and there are no complaints incredible sound for the price, I am using it with an orchestra of 10 musicians and I am surprised by the power it has and the sound! several of the audience asked me what speakers were those and what sound so clear!
Thank you for the excellent video. As someone who's thinking about performing again after a 20 year break, I am absolutely breathless with the new PA options and pricing.😊
Fantastic vid and review as always Scott. I'm a musician and an instructional designer and IMO, YOUR clarity is always what can't be beat. You're so good at what you do. Loved the band clips, esp. helpful and fun. I'm out. ✌️
@ScottUhlMusic do they have a smaller 2 speaker system for those interested in connecting to a guitar modeling unit like the quad cortex for home use?
Strip down a "high-end" system, ID the components and check the costs....very little. Those who pay those prices are paying for trade-shows and other marketing costs. This industry/marketing is a classic example of "The Emperor's New Clothes". Stick a big-name label on it and voila, it "sounds better" 😂
This is great thanks Scott. Please could you do a review of your drummers setup and how he gets the sound with so little kit!! i think that wold be well received.
A lot of people have asked for that haha. It’s a cajon with a reverse pedal so he sits on the cajon and still has a kick pedal. He then has a snare, hi hat, and single cymbal. Then the Roland spdsx sample pad has the Toms, and electronic sounds and any song-specific samples 👍
Cool systems. Questions for you, Scott: • Do you think the speakers are durable and would hold up over time? • Could you simply EQ the output of the digital mixer to roll down the highs and add back some of the low mids? • Will they send you the larger one to test out? Curious how it would compare. Thanks!
I think they would, but they do have a 1 year warranty. I will say, part of the risk of buying cheap can be longevity. Thats true with anything affordable. But with a 1 year warranty especially, I feel good about it. You can roll back the highs for sure, but I don’t know if you can bring back the low mids if they aren’t there. I tried bringing some of them in, and it worked, but it was still slightly lacking. Again, I’m probably the only person who noticed I would love to try out the PTR series
@@ScottUhlMusic Thanks for the answser. I was wondering if it was you just didn't have time to fully EQ or the speaker engineering basically lacked that. Thanks! Yeah, the less expensive stuff is a gamble sometimes. The year warranty is good. Few will have the QSC 5 or 6 year warranties that some of their stuff has.
Great review (as always). Unbelievable value for what you get. Would be a little worried about the quality of the components and the longevity of the units. Your reviews for us musicians who play live are always full of good ideas and very good advice. Thanks for doing these. Looks like a really fun night at that bar (great stage) and peeps were def having fun. The singer is really good.
Thank you! And yeah, that is a fair point since I only used them at 2 shows. But the reviews on these are pretty positive. And thanks, Anthony has an insane range of songs he can do!
@@ScottUhlMusic I've shared this video with the band. We're going to talk about buying this as our live gigs often have us breaking down our rehearsal space to haul our gear to the venue (if the venue doesn't already have sound).
Great video man. Edited very well. Informative and honest. That price point is insane. I am a DJ and have been thinking about getting a mini line array system. Would prob go with the 18”s and the three tops as I like a lot of thump as a lot of sound. Thanks so much for the really good breakdown.
Just got the Proreck 6000 and I figured out what the smell is on the cabinets, it’s a raw rubber smell, but for the $$ and sound, YOU CANNOT BEAT IT!!!!
Yeah I noticed the smell but didn’t think much of it, but apparently multiple people have that as an issue too. But you are correct, you just cannot beat that price point
For a system in that price point, I'm pleasantly surprised. One thing I would have expected though; as the power module is in one sub, and two runs are being made to the other side, I would have expected the speakon to be an NL4, and for there to be two short cables to the tops from the subs. A small gripe, but for south of 700 bucks, it's a steal of a system at first glance.
Here's the thing. You can get 2 sets of the Proreck 4000 12 inch subs with 3 line array speakers each side. That's a total of 4 - 12 inch subs and 12 line array speakers (3 on each side x 2). Price: $1151.00. And yes, you can hook them all together. Why not just get the 8000 model? Because you're able to move sound from many more dispersion points to cover more area. And yes, it's louder. The more air you're moving the better the coverage. With the 8000 series, you're still trying to cover the same area, albeit louder, from the same broadcast point. With the dual 4000 series, you're able to add more speakers for broader dispersion of the sound, thus it gives you a "bigger" sound.
This review's great. I'm close to buying. The only thing holding me up, is I've read a few things here and on other reviews, about the smell. Some say so bad they literally can't keep in the house. Anyone who has bought these.... any issues with the smell, some are describing as very "fishy".
@@ScottUhlMusic thanks, Scott. One question: You've had them a while now. Do they still smell or has that gone away? thanks! Love your channel and reviews!
DANG - that seems like a fantastic setup for a rock/metal duo like mine. For the same price we only own a couple 12" harbingers. Massive thanks for putting this on my radar.
Thanks for a great review (as usual). I found the ProRec gear on Amazon months ago and was wondering if their line arrays were worth the money (you know, almost too good to be true for the price), so I'm glad you did a review of them. Might consider these for my acoustic trio at some point down the road.
I use the Prorek powered subs with my RCFs or my DRM mackies and have crowds of over 500 and everything on unity and my mixer half way and it pounds and fills
Thanks for this review, I just ordered a Club 6000 system based on this review directly from the website. Strangely, I did not get a receipt or acknowledgement by text or email. Will know soon if the website is legit or I got scammed. If I end up receiving it, will use it for a live show (rock) we have planned for New Years eve
I got my ears molded for $50 at an audiologist and eartune fidelity made customer molded ear tips that fit my Shure 215s and I have a pair for my Sennheiser ie100s too.. Idk if UE are available but they do let you mail in your ear monitors and they will 3d scan them so not only can you get custom silicone ear tips but your ear monitors will be added to the list for other people to be able to get them and all for $149.99. I just wanted to say I'm not sponsored or trying to advertise for eartune.. I'm just saying it is an alternative between getting expensive custom molded iems and using the supplied rubber or foam ear tips
This was a real eye-opening and super comprehensive review. Thanks for all the samples. They were really helpful. I'm blown away by the cost/benefit. However, a real deal killer for me is the lack of dedicated sub input. For my band that just ain't gonna cut it. I hope they come up with a version that has a sub input, even if it bumps the price up a bit. Until then, it's a pass for me unfortunately. They also might want to consider making a version of the system where both sides are active with bluetooth (or other dedicated wireless) for intra-speaker connection as an option. With the price and efficiency of Class D amps, it could still be a very cost-effective system. Would love to eliminate those sub-to-sub cables.
It would definitely be nice to have those features! But then it wouldn’t be as cheap, that’s 100% certain. I would definitely love those features, but that would drastically change the price. Thanks for commenting and watching! 🤘
Hey Scott, two things in my Club 6000 ownership journey you should know. 1) Support never got back to me and 2) I had to move the gear outdoors as the chemical odor was going throughout the house. I still think it's good value for money but I'd hesitate to buy another set given these two issues. If you're talking to them, maybe let them know? Cheers!
That’s quite odd that support didn’t get back to you. I’ve heard a lot of people say they respond, I would message them again. But I see what you mean. Budget stuff has its limitations of course and it usually has some sort of drawbacks. But you are right, it’s a great value for the money 👍 thanks again for sharing!
Love the video. I was thinking about getting two sets of the 8000's. Having a pair as left and a pair as right. How big of a crowd do you think that would work for? Thank you!
If you’re wanting to clean up the cabling and make things easier, you could rewire the speakon jacks to work with NL4 (same connector just using 4 wires) to send the sub And satellite signal to the other side, then just put a jack on the passive sub to connect the speakers above it. That makes it only 1 cable running around the stage, and you can get speakon couplers so you could have 2 25ft cables instead of a 50ft that’s too big for some spots
Appreciate your reviews. It’s good to know about these things. With that said, just so you know, while these systems use elements from line arrays, they are not line arrays themselves. There is no such thing as a line array that is shorter than seven or 8 feet or so. Line arrays don’t become line arrays until they get to be about that length. These are just point source speakers. And yes, point source speakers can throw pretty far. So you know.
Thanks for commenting, I appreciate it. I left a pinned comment because this is the most common comment I’m getting on this topic. Some of this I learned as well after doing the video. So thank you for commenting and keeping the comment helpful (not everyone is doing that in the comments haha). But see my pined comment. Thanks again 🤘
I saw some material on these about a month ago and they seem interesting. Looks like a product that will definitely suit a few different groups of people. Cheers!
Dude, I can't believe I'm not familiar with your channel- these are incredible! Some of the best analyses I've ever seen on products! Quick question: I have a Bose Lpro 32 that I put in the middle and I use a couple of QSC CP2's as side fills and then I have an alto 18 to fill the bass in. Would I have a better sound if I kept the Bose Lpro 32 but substituted the Proreck 8000 for the QSC Cp12's and the Alto? My band often consists of five instruments, drums, and vocals.
Thanks! And the QSC and Bose will sound better than these. These are definitely useable, and works for bands on a budget, but if you already have the QSC, BOSE, and ALTO, those are going to be better 👍
Thanks- the quality of sound you all were getting with the 6000 and then on on the PR 212T was making me rethink my whole setup- appreciate the help! And like others are saying, your band is terrific!
I’ve heard these lives and in person one time before and a really small bar and I was really surprised about how clear it was and how loud it was and that face but I was curious about the long-term viability of them being bad. It’s only 600 bucks but I think I’m sold and I’m gonna buy.
Only problem I had with this system (I actually own the 8000) was transporting from gig to gig. It ended up being in my rehearsal space instead. Also, after a short amount of use I had to replace 2 of the 6" speakers in the arrays.
Thank you for sharing! I do agree that transpiring isn’t as easy, but I didn’t have a case for them. What happened to the speakers? They do have a 1 year warranty, but that’s good know!
@ScottUhlMusic I admit to being pretty bad about registering and using warranties. I ordered a couple full range 6" speakers and replaced the blown ones. Sounds like it should now.
Not sure about the power: there is a fuse in it, it is rated 5A at 250V. So there simply *cannot* be a continous power consumption more than 1250W (5A * 250V). Is there a fusion generator in it to get a 2000W continous power out of the available max 1250W? I'm not speaking about the "3000W peak power".
I’m not sure about that, but I would be surprised if it hit 3000W peak as well. It is listed as such, so I’m assuming they tested it out. But that’s why I say not for more than 200 people there
Thanks for your answer. My concern is: if they are not telling the truth even on the "simple-to-check"-specs, do they tell the truth in safety (for example)?
@@andreasobermeier6231 I would be curious how they tested that out for the power. I wasn’t really thinking about it, but 3000w does seem a little high for peak since I could do more than 200 people at 3000w. But I would be curious how they got that number
@@ScottUhlMusic to be honest, nobody tells the truth about power in products of this price range, not behringer, not mackie, not anyone except maybe yamaha. i would not consider it a slight against the brand. over on @JohnB-2021's channel he's repaired a bunch of amplifiers like this, that are definitely not up to their rated power. the reason i left my comments stating much the same about wattage is to help inform people better about the gear they're buying, because the lying is so common and people have lots of misconceptions around what watts mean.
Hi Scott, I bought this system for my 5-piece 80’s band. Sounded great on BT. When I ran the mix through mixer (Peavey FX2 24), music was garbled. I ran directly from iPad to aux cable and got same result, so it’s not the mixer. All balanced inputs sound garbled including bass guitar and mic
Try doing what I mentioned with turning up the speakers and turning down the output from the mixer. These aren’t meant to be pushed too loud. Make sure you have the right speaker for the job.
Thanks Scott, my experience was exactly like yours, excellent sound quality for the price. Right now I am trying to fix highs through my mixer with EQ. Like you said, probably the output signal is too high causing distortion, will report back after the suggested fix of low mixer output and high amp output 😊
I figured out the issue, I am getting distortion with Bluetooth also but with overpowering array speakers, I didn’t notice it until I plugged my bass. Both subwoofers are vibrating, I don’t know if it is a defective board? Sent a few emails to Proreck and no response yet. They did not return my voicemail either. I have used it for less than 30 minutes at very moderate volume…
Still using 1/4" or T(R)S plugs for amplified speaker signal is a no no. Speakon has four pins allowing two signals in one cable (1+&1- ; 2+&2-). You could easily run the HF and LF over one cable. TRS or XLR for speaker signal is an outdated practice from the past because you can easily mix them up with line level gear.
You've convinced me, I also have several size groups depending on $$$ I will have smaller groups while also using using backing tracks , Hope it works as I was currently looking to purchase some mains (using some JBL double 15 columns way way to heavy) thanks again great video as always
In your band's performance, did you guys use real solid- state/tube amps or did you use footswitch/pedal amp modeling simulators? Regardless, you guy sounded ROCKING great! In my Alt Rock tribute band, we cover mostly 80's Alt Rock/New Wave & some 90's Alternative Rock/Grunge too! My band is 5-piece (Drums🥁, bass,🎸 2 guitars🎸 & vox🎤) Do we use our amp's line-out patches to go into the mixer inputs or can we mic our amps up? How did your guys connect guitars & bass to the PA mixer system in this video performance?
Your video was very informative. I’m looking for a PA I can use in my living room to jam with my friends. My max budget is $300 to $500. What system would recommend?
I was thinking about adding just one powered electro voice 15” the g2 to add some more bass to my system. But that one speaker cost more than this whole set with cords and all! Thanks, Now I’m back to not knowing what to do! lol! Thanks for the review! Can’t believe these are that inexpensive!
Good breakdown of this PA system Scott. If I were starting out I'd seriously consider it. For now my Behringer B112Ds fill my needs for medium size venues.
I run 8" tops with 100hz filters so a sub is absolutely mandatory. I made a diy 12" vented box running 500w rms and i've done a few 60-80 ppl bar gigs that asked me to turn down the sub because it was too much.
Thanks, Scott! Great review. I have a question I think you've answered.... but... I've been looking at this ProReck for some time. I foolishly asked about it on a FB PA group, and got skewered by "experts" who said "no way will you get anything usable for $600" - none who have actually tried it. One guy said "ask your parents for a loan and spend $5000..." -- I'm a 60 year old guy... LOL. My question: I'm really new at playing with a band. We have a little three piece - two guitars, bass, vocal. We use a beat buddy pedal until we find a drummer. We've done a couple very small gigs, and got some interest - will be playing some small venues like small bars, even a decent size coffee shop, so need a PA. This seems like a perfect starter PA for us. We do have a AH CQ-18T mixer that I think will be perfect for this. I think your entire review speaks right to guys like us.... correct? especially with 60 bucks more off!!!
This sounds like it would be a great system for you! And you will always deal with Facebook “experts” lol. Just ignore them. Everyone has different goals with music gear. If they want to spend the price to get a “pure tone”, they can. This is a great budget option for smaller shows and bands 👍
Hey Scott Allen & Heath released a new line of mixers about 6-7 months back it is their CQ series. It has all the processing and great effects for every channel and every output. And their Wi-Fi on the unit actually works. 2.4 or 5G Wi-Fi. You can record directly to an SD card, thumb drive, and USB directly into your Daw. Live stream your mix directly from the console to your favorite platform. And the preamps are sweet. Their flagship one is 18 in 6 out plus two mains. And a 7-inch touchscreen. There are two other units in this series. One is the 12 channel and the other is 20. The 20 is ran by the app only no touch screen. These are definitely going to take over the behringer market of the x air. They are amazing you must check this stuff out bro.✌️🍻
@@ScottUhlMusic yeah sure would be nice to see one of your breakdowns on this mixer series. It's got all the bells and whistles and then a few other awesome features built in. The CQ 18t comes in around 1200 bucks. Replace all of your rack gear.😂😂✌️
@@maxammo6282 I own the 18t and love it. I'm a FOH guy, so I still prefer hands on faders, but you can't beat the size of this thing. Sound and ease of use is amazing.
I bought the CQ18. Love this thing. I was using a zoom L8 before (also a pretty cool little gadget). Haven't used it at a live show, but recorded the band live in practice room. It's really cool, with auto gain set, auto gain adjust, built in effects..... too much to list! I love the SD card. I dump all the tracks into logic. Can do all the production there. I have no talent to make a review video, so I'll leave that up to Scott!
Hey Scott, I tried to buy this by clicking on your link and the promo code worked, but my card kept getting denied 😫 After about 6 attempts I called my credit card company and there were no issues on my end. I ended up getting it on a Amazon without the sweet discount but I’m still excited to try it. Thanks for the review! 😆
@@ScottUhlMusic hey Scott…did your system have an offensive “chemical” smell to it? IDK…like burning plastic? I’ve had mine for a couple weeks now and the smell is so bad I had to leave my windows down when transporting it to my last gig🤷🏻♂️
Scott, I love your reviews!! And LOVE how clean your stage is!! I looked but didn't see if you shared the following info: what direct guitar rig are you using? (it looks minimal size!); and what drum kit is the drummer using (also minimal, big sound)? Thanks, bro - keep up the GREAT reviews!!
Thanks! My guitar is pretty wild, it’s the GTRS P800: th-cam.com/video/Ausw3WiCEtg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=j1lh5IA0BvZjNAda And our drummer has a very unique drum setup. He sits on a cajon which is the kick (he has a reverse pedal for it), and then a snare, high hat, and one cymbal. Then the spdsx has all the electronic elements as well as the toms in it. Simple and works very well. Plus he’s the only drummer I know who can do it all in one load in
Hey Scott, I am taking a serious look at this system. Looking through the Proreck site. One of the options for the 6000 is for 6 speaker array. Do you think it would be a good upgrade, or stick with the 4 that comes with the normal setup?
As the conditions change from event to event, you should always eq your Master Bus that goes to your PA. Of course ig your system isn't able to produce a certain frequency, you won't be able to fix it that way, but a little more low mids and a little less treble should be no problem for the system. I am just wondering how the line array aspect performs. Normally you would have to set at least the levels of the two speakers to use that effekt to its full potential. Otherwise it's honna be very loud in the front. But at least the clarity eill be preserved, because of the two speakers. So maybe thats already an advantage over haveing just one top speaker. Tha ks for the review. Looks like a nice budget option for example for a Church startup.
Hi Scott, I have a couple questions. 1) are you running direct out of the PA? 2) what mixer do you recommend with this system 3) are their any monitors that should be used? My band is a newer band and will be playing bars that often dont have a house PA so this seems to be perfect?
We definitely used a mixer, and you will need one for this. We used the behringer xr18 and it works great! Monitors are based on your mixer, and we used in ear monitors with this 👍
I would say up to 150 people max. Anything beyond that, I'd highly suggest you upgrade. The biggest indicator is if you're having to max out the settings just to get the sound you're looking for. And, maxing everything out with every show drastically shortens the lifespan of the system. As far as value goes, I think I got you beat by just a hair. I was able to get the Gemini LRX-448 system for only $250 😂 EXTREMELY hard to beat. But I love your video brother! Keep em comin!
Is the gemini speaker you got louder that the speaker in the video? Just asking as I’m currently looking for some speakers to buy so I’m just looking at all the options :)
@DJKenzz the system is rated at 1000 watts peak and 600 watts RMS so less power than the system in the video. However, I feel like I can push the tops of my Gemini system a lot harder if I replaced the subwoofer with a better one (or 2).
Thanks, Scott! I bought the Behringer Europort PPA2000BT from Amazon three years ago for $900. Since then, I added a subwoofer to cover the low end. The ProReck would have been a better option. BTW, I love the multiple "pedal boards" on your stage. Do you have one for each guitar? I can see having two; one for electric and another for acoustic. Why three? How do you use them?
Thanks man! And I only use 2. One is for my GTRS guitar and is wirelessly/bluetooth which I’ve reviewed on my channel. The other one is just a midi pedal I use for controlling Stage Traxx 3 which has our tracks 👍
Thanks! And a lot of people have asked that haha. Cajon is the kick that he sits on, and has a reverse kick pedal to hit it. Snare, hi hat, and single cymbal. Then the spdsx sample pad has the toms and any electronic drum samples. Nice easy setup!
Great video, Scott. Although the phone videos don't super capture tone, it does help give an idea. The live stuff is really great to see how you pull off the 90s thing without a bass player on stage. Very cool.
Thanks! And yeah, we do have a bass player sometimes, it depends on the venue, budget, etc. that’s what’s nice about stage Traxx 3. If the bas player is there, it’s one button press and the bass is out of the tracks 👍
@@ScottUhlMusic Right! I learned that from you videos and have started prepping backing tracks for my own 90s band exactly like that so depending on the specific lineup, I can use bass or guitar backing tracks as needed.
This is a very helpful video for myself personally. Knowing that you can have a really good system without taking out a mortgage (haha 😂) is definitely good news.
Great reviews. I was considering getting 2 of the 4000 series but I just ordered the 8000 mainly for the ability to mount the tops to the subs. I do sound for local shows at breweries and such mostly rock and metal, running older jbl prx5 stuff which is pretty outdated these days and works fine but id really like to try these since its less set up, and smaller tops. With that said, did i make the right call with the 8000 or do you think 2 4000 would have any advantages?
Hey Scott, great vid on these. Quick question, what is the best way to add one powered sub, and 2 more powered tops to this system to add more sound for a show?
Thanks! And I’ve had a few people ask me about this. I’m actually in the process of trying out the PR212T and that would be the one I recommend if you are wanting a bigger sound for sure. It sounds better too. I just used it yesterday actually, and I’m working on a video about it 👍
if it has 2 inputs just run subs on aux and then you can EQ it by channel volume. problem comes from that system needing all the volume it can get in the first place.
Like a lot cover bands, we play a number of our gigs without the need for production (bigger venues w/prod provided, house systems, etc.). When we do have to provide our own, I use my QSC 118’s and Yorkville 12 in tops but am fearful of driving those too hard although the core tone from that config is pretty deep. I wonder if this rig could be used to enhance a config like that especially with the higher tones. All that said, have you tried combining this rig with your other systems to take the pressure off each of them to cover a bigger space without take it the overhead of hiring a production company? Seems to me if you could, and with that price point, you could justify combining systems if the overall sound is solid. Storing more gear is a different issue (possible con) but a potential savings in production costs.
Interesting, I haven’t tried it that way. We did debate that for that 2nd show we did (my singer brought his PA for a backup since I was using new gear), but ultimately I wanted to test the speakers out to the max for the video. But I would be willing to bet it would help
Love the video. Wondering what mixer you would use for this. I am looking for something wireless so I won't have to run wires to my headphones. Next question... headphones that are good and won't fall out of your ears during performance.
Fantastic deal! I see they also offer a package with a single 18" sub and the 2 arrays. Which would be your recommendation for a full band (with e-drums) in a small clubs?
Hey guys, thanks for watching. The 3 most common questions I’m getting in the comment section are:
1) will it last long?
2) 3000w peak power is not possible.
3) that’s not a line array
I reached out to ProReck and got a few answers:
To answer the first question, they do have a 1 year warranty on it (I should have added that to the video). And they’ve also sold products on Amazon for 10 years and said they respond to customer service inquiries within 48 hours. A 1 year warranty is definitely helpful. I will just say, that’s always part of the risk when buying cheaper. Take care of it, and don’t push this thing beyond its limit and with a 1 year warranty included, you should be good 👍
2) the peak power of 3000w seems very very unlikely to be reached.
That might be a better way to understand it 👍
One final point that others have pointed out: my band is a 3 piece and we do have a smaller drum kit.
I’m am planing on getting one for my 3Kingz gospels group it’s a good start affordable set up
I mean, how much power can you spect for a 600 dollar speakers?
Nice!! Glad it’s been working so well for you 🤘 Thanks for sharing!
can you make a gig log with your setup?
Hi, I am very interested in this 6000 series….i have a couple questions: do the tips run in full range or do they cross over at the frequency the sub is set for? ( if not, do the 6” tops distort?)
2) was thinking of larger top cabinets initially ( like 10”) with one 18” powered sub….how do you find the 15” subs for low end extension as well as bump?
Yeah, I had the pro reck 8000 but then I sold it, but now I'm highly considering getting the 6000 for sure

Bought this and used your code for the discount. I’m impressed with the system so far. Thank you for your excellent review and your channel.
Thanks for letting me know! Glad you like it 🤘
Thanks Scott. Great detailed review. I showed it to my band and it instantly convinced them to pull the trigger on the 6000 to replace our patchwork system.
Nice! Thanks for watching, and enjoy!
Wow - so incredibly thorough and understandable. great camera work and highlighting the video to support the review. All I can say is "Great Scott" 👍 - Thank you
Much appreciated!
I'm in a hard rock/heavy metal band and we've been running a 14 mic board mix through 2 Club 4000's about 2 years now for crowds up to 600 people just fine.
Really? Awesome! Thats great to hear!
Post some video. Can't even imagine it
Bought after watching your video. Just did our first duo gig and it was amazing! Thanks! Liked and subscribed!🤘🏽
Awesome, glad to hear it!🤘 thanks for commenting and for the sub 🤘
Good god, the Bogen and its' KT88 power tubes. Until the DC300 it was the only game in town.
Bogens still occasionally pop up for sale, but only converted to use as guitar amp. & I've NEVER seen an Atlas horn. Unfortunately. (I'm into vintage hifi). At least i don't believe i have.
At this point I am thrilled at the amount of portable and compact gadgets and virtual instruments I have access to compared to 10 years ago.
Just ordered some using your code! Had a small set of speakers and loved Prorecks products. Wanted to upgrade for mixing music and ran across your video! Can't wait to try them out.
Nice! Let me know what you think 🤘
Also the 3000 speaker out I don't know if they do stereo with the mix out (Scott any input?)
There is a stereo 1/4 3/4 input on the 3000 (interesting there isn't one fo the 6000) that we may have to use moving forward to save us bringing all our gear when they should have decent system with these.
@@ScottUhlMusic for sure. someone else must've done so at another gig they did. careful with those 1/4 in the combo jacks.
Thanks! I appreciate that! I always try to use my gear live before doing a review on it 🤘
Happy to help!

Rare! Bravo!
Thank you!
Very cool system for the few gigs we actually need a P.A system. A bit more expensive here in Canada, but for just under $1000 still great.
Thank you! And I’m glad you’ve found those other products helpful. That KLIQ strap is a life saver!
Or could do sub on Aux
Works great on my xr18 board.
Great video, Scott! The live stuff is really great to see how you pull off the 90s thing without a bass player on stage. $600.00?????? Especially Being a DJ!!!! Very cool!
Thanks! And agreed completely!
Just bought my setup. It's pretty impressive so far. Great work on the vid!
Nice! Glad it worked well for you!
Scott, best part of the video is listening to your band you guys sound great!
Thank you! I appreciate that 🤘
Another great review Scott...I think 80% of my budget gear has come from your recommendations...swiff wireless for my practice rig, phenyx pro for my in ears, and now I may have to consider pro rec as a viable option!
Much appreciated.
Nice! Glad to hear that!
Thanks for reviewing this, Scott. I've wondered about this exact PA. Good to know it could be a winner
Great review man! Im an old veteran dj looking to get back to spinning music. This video was very helpful. Ive been eye balling the 4000 and 6000
These got me excited when I was looking for a PA.
Great explanation and direction. I’m a hands on learner so it helps a lot! Keep it up
Thanks!
Nice! Thanks for sharing your experience with it as well!
Thank you!
I've seen these online but always questioned how good it was! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Just added their proreck 18" powered sub. It completes this system!!
Nice!
Super powerful I needed a PA urgently and there are no complaints incredible sound for the price, I am using it with an orchestra of 10 musicians and I am surprised by the power it has and the sound! several of the audience asked me what speakers were those and what sound so clear!
Nice!! I’m glad to hear it has worked so well for you 🤘
Thank you for the excellent video. As someone who's thinking about performing again after a 20 year break, I am absolutely breathless with the new PA options and pricing.😊
Nice! And glad it was helpful 🤘
That front man was killlllling it! great review and real world demo

Fantastic vid and review as always Scott. I'm a musician and an instructional designer and IMO, YOUR clarity is always what can't be beat. You're so good at what you do. Loved the band clips, esp. helpful and fun. I'm out. ✌️
Thank you James 🙏
That sounds excellent. I like how clean it sounds. Saving this for later for future Dj needs
Nice!
600 dollars is pretty insane for what you get with this.
Couldn’t agree more!
@ScottUhlMusic do they have a smaller 2 speaker system for those interested in connecting to a guitar modeling unit like the quad cortex for home use?
Totally agree
Strip down a "high-end" system, ID the components and check the costs....very little. Those who pay those prices are paying for trade-shows and other marketing costs.
This industry/marketing is a classic example of "The Emperor's New Clothes". Stick a big-name label on it and voila, it "sounds better" 😂
I should’ve waited until I seen this video 😅… the PA system I bought hit my pockets big
@@ScottUhlMusic Nice one Scott. Sounds superb for such a little setup! thanks for the great content.
Cool systems. Questions for you, Scott:
• Do you think the speakers are durable and would hold up over time?
Again, I’m probably the only person who noticed
I would love to try out the PTR series
@@ScottUhlMusic Thanks for the answser. I was wondering if it was you just didn't have time to fully EQ or the speaker engineering basically lacked that. Thanks!
Yeah, the less expensive stuff is a gamble sometimes. The year warranty is good. Few will have the QSC 5 or 6 year warranties that some of their stuff has.
I’m quite amazed for that price point. As a bass player, maybe I should use my own rig or add a sub?
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 🤘
Just got the Proreck 6000 and I figured out what the smell is on the cabinets, it’s a raw rubber smell, but for the $$ and sound, YOU CANNOT BEAT IT!!!!
THANK YOU FOR THIS! I have montiors and want my own mains. Love what you do, Scott!
Thank you 🙏
Here's the thing.
Yeah the smell is bad. I thought that was just mine, but apparently a lot of people have that issue too
@@ScottUhlMusic thanks, Scott.
Yeah I thought the same thing when I first heard about them. And for an acoustic trio it would do great!
I saw those as well. Decided on the harbinger mls 1000 to do a 3 person thing. This thing sounds great
I use the Prorek powered subs with my RCFs or my DRM mackies and have crowds of over 500 and everything on unity and my mixer half way and it pounds and fills
It’s definitely not a scam site. I’ve ordered other stuff from them before. Enjoy the speakers! Just don’t push them beyond what they are capable of 👍
I got my ears molded for $50 at an audiologist and eartune fidelity made customer molded ear tips that fit my Shure 215s and I have a pair for my Sennheiser ie100s too..
I am going to check this system out. I work with a school and I have been looking for a system that is easy to set up and use. this is perfect.
Nice!
Hey Scott, despite repeated attempts, support has never returned my messages. Makes it hard for me to recommend this to my musician friends.
Wow!
Those sound pretty good!
I am definitely going to look into them.
Love the video. I was thinking about getting two sets of the 8000's. Having a pair as left and a pair as right. How big of a crowd do you think that would work for? Thank you!
I actually address that question in this video: th-cam.com/video/egWTiXfG9z8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=gy-r7dEYvSVpPOAF
🤘🤘
If you’re wanting to clean up the cabling and make things easier, you could rewire the speakon jacks to work with NL4 (same connector just using 4 wires) to send the sub And satellite signal to the other side, then just put a jack on the passive sub to connect the speakers above it. That makes it only 1 cable running around the stage, and you can get speakon couplers so you could have 2 25ft cables instead of a 50ft that’s too big for some spots
Oh interesting! Thats above my pay grade for sure haha but good to know! Thats awesome
Cheers!
Agreed!
Dude, I can't believe I'm not familiar with your channel- these are incredible! Some of the best analyses I've ever seen on products!
Quick question:
I have a Bose Lpro 32 that I put in the middle and I use a couple of QSC CP2's as side fills and then I have an alto 18 to fill the bass in.
Thanks for this! I've been looking for a secondary PA, this is perfect for my budget!
I’ve heard these lives and in person one time before and a really small bar and I was really surprised about how clear it was and how loud it was and that face but I was curious about the long-term viability of them being bad. It’s only 600 bucks but I think I’m sold and I’m gonna buy.
Nice! Thanks for sharing what you thought since you’ve heard them live yourself! And they do have a 1 year warranty which is great 🤘
I ordered the 6000 system for our band. Looking forward to trying it out.
Nice! Enjoy 🤘🤘
Hi.. how was it? Did u like how it sounds?
@@rubeng2204 I just ordered it. Haven’t got it yet. Will be a few weeks before I can try it.
cool system! Your Band is awesome because of the fact you guys play different genre of music
Thanks! It keeps things interesting for sure
Thanks brother I'm sold getting my upgrade I have the 3500 series and those babies rock
Nice!!
Thanks for the review! That's definitely going on my budget gear list.
Thanks for watching!
@@maebeans even MORE interesting now. Thanks for sharing man!
Did you purchase this, and how's it working? I'm close to pulling the trigger on it myself.
Thanks! And we are all direct and in ear monitors 🤘 and out of the direct rigs we go into our Behringer XR18 for this video
Your video was very informative. I’m looking for a PA I can use in my living room to jam with my friends. My max budget is $300 to $500. What system would recommend?
It doesn’t get much cheaper than these 🤘 check the website for other options
I was thinking about adding just one powered electro voice 15” the g2 to add some more bass to my system. But that one speaker cost more than this whole set with cords and all! Thanks, Now I’m back to not knowing what to do! lol! Thanks for the review! Can’t believe these are that inexpensive!
The EV system will sound better, but you cannot beat this deal. It’s up to you to make the choice between tone and price 👍
Nice! I’ve seen a LOT of people switching over to A&H stuff. I’ve heard a lot of good things about them!
But no midi on those mixers right? 😬
Hey Scott,
I tried to buy this by clicking on your link and the promo code worked, but my card kept getting denied 😫
After about 6 attempts I called my credit card company and there were no issues on my end.
I ended up getting it on a Amazon without the sweet discount but I’m still excited to try it. Thanks for the review! 😆
No worries! Glad you got it and hope it works well for you 🤘
@@ScottUhlMusic hey Scott…did your system have an offensive “chemical” smell to it? IDK…like burning plastic? I’ve had mine for a couple weeks now and the smell is so bad I had to leave my windows down when transporting it to my last gig🤷🏻♂️
@@ScottUhlMusic regarding my last post, one week now…not two …sorry.
Thanks! My guitar is pretty wild, it’s the GTRS P800: th-cam.com/video/Ausw3WiCEtg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=j1lh5IA0BvZjNAda
And our drummer has a very unique drum setup. He sits on a cajon which is the kick (he has a reverse pedal for it), and then a snare, high hat, and one cymbal. Then the spdsx has all the electronic elements as well as the toms in it. Simple and works very well. Plus he’s the only drummer I know who can do it all in one load in
@@ScottUhlMusic Very cool on both items, man!! Thanks for that info!! It's also cool how you respond to most every comment - wow!!! Love it!
9:40 "Our drummer plays lead kazoo . . . " HAHAHA That is brilliant! I love it!
1st chair kazoo player 🤘🤘😂
@@hulksta3223 thanks man! And yes, I agree, don’t max anything out if you don’t have to. I was pushing this to its limit for a video 🤘
Is the gemini speaker you got louder that the speaker in the video? Just asking as I’m currently looking for some speakers to buy so I’m just looking at all the options :)
@@ScottUhlMusic definitely makes for a great video 😜
Wicked! And now I have another ScottUhl video to watch. I'm new to your channel and have a LOT of catching up to do!@@ScottUhlMusic
Like to hear on what drummer set up was all about. Great vids man🎉
Agreed!
I think the 8000 would be the best call 👍 if you aren’t happy with it, try the PR212 which I just reviewed as well
@@ScottUhlMusic thanks for the reply. I did look at that one, but with only 12 inch subs I'm not sure how it would handle down tuned bass and subdrops
Great little rockin' band! Sounds awesome, excellent demo, can't beat the value. You always make great videos.
Thank you 🙏
Hey Scott, great vid on these.
I think I understand what you are saying, and you can’t do that on this system unfortunately
Great video Scott for another review. This really makes me think of looking into this system. $600, this is crazy
Yeah, I can’t believe it’s only $600!
Love the video. Wondering what mixer you would use for this. I am looking for something wireless so I won't have to run wires to my headphones. Next question... headphones that are good and won't fall out of your ears during performance.
I used it with our Behringer xr18 mixer 🤘
Fantastic deal! I see they also offer a package with a single 18" sub and the 2 arrays. Which would be your recommendation for a full band (with e-drums) in a small clubs?
I think it’s possible. Going up to the 8000 would be best for bands, but I’ve gigged with the 6000
I came here for the speakers but stayed for your concert you rock 🤘
Thank you! It’s a fun band 🤘🤘
