    The fish seeing the line never made sense to me with all the hooks and split rings hanging off of baits, but the effect on lure movement makes much more sense-thank you.

    Finesse is my favorite style. I'll pitch around a swimbait until I can't stand it anymore looking for a big girl and then drop it for numbers. If you're not familiar with it you'll be surprised how quickly it fills a bag with not only dinks but 2-4lb quality fish mixed in. Dead sticking is your friend. Got to remember how even little waves move you and that you're probably not holding the rod perfectly steady. The lighter the set up the less you have to do.

    Fished a tournament up here in Maine with my dad recently. Water temps in the 40’s now so we were after smallmouth in 20-30ft of water. As coangler I put 3 fish in the boat before he got one. As he got the net on my third fish his drop shot finally got bit

    Many bass fishermen are not true fishermen. I am one of those. Bass fishing has become such a technical desperation to catch a fish that they focus more on the work aspect than the fun factor. When i go fishing i tie the cheapest bass lure i can find no matter what season and if i catch something great! If i dont, im happy no fish got hurt. Truth be told i go fishing to catch the outdoors and im successful every time

    Light line is critical to getting those extra bites. There are only a few specific occasions where you’ll really need anything more than 8lb test.

    I love power fishing, but I also love finesse fishing. I might even love finesse fishing more because there is more challenge.

    Line size is huge. It’s not just that action that makes a difference, the line size also creates a larger or smaller presence in the water. The fish can feel the line with their lateral line, and line diameter can make a big difference with how much water is displaced for the bass to feel.

    Great video! Putting some things in perspective in regards to diameter of line and resistance affecting the action of the lure. I am also from Columbus, OH. I just subscribed, glad to relate to fishing in Ohio.

    Honestly my favorite slow day bass fishing technique is using a shallow water jerkbait and reeling it slowly on light line.

  • @DoctorSess
    @DoctorSess 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Senkos and brush hogs have caught me more bass than all the fancy lures in my tackle box combined. I do use a lot of lipless cranks and swim jigs but nothing beats a weightless senko or Texas rig hog. If the bite is real tight I’ll go wacky or shakey on light line for sure!

    Excellent information once again, i always think the fish are going to see heavier line and used it as an excuse to getting less bites but after watching this I now understand it's more resistance and lure action , thank you

    I caught a 4lb bass on 4lb line. Open water. If you can get away with lighter line go for it. But when you’re literally in the thick of it bring the right gear

  • @DoubleTFishing
    @DoubleTFishing 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great tips, I throw 1/4 oz swim jigs that seem to produce bites. Not sure if it’s the light line or presentation, thanks for all you do.

    Great video. Line diameter is something I just started to consider. Instead of putting 15 / 17 lb line on everything I’ve branched out. This year I’m gonna try 10-18lb Fluoro line. As well as mix in braid and mono. .... I def overwork the bait. Slow is hard to do.

    I've been a finesse fisherman for more than 40yrs. Why?? Because I can adapt better to a situation & make a small adjustment and I can get bit. Notice I didn't say"catch", I'm talking bites. The ability to hook the fish is different. Smaller baits will draw strikes any time faster than a bigger bite. Smaller line, bait, weight and presentation, .....hard to beat. Slow is the only way to go. I could go on for ever. You hate it only until you figure it out. Then you'll see the advantage it does have.

    When the bite gets tough it’s hard to beat a finesse technique. I’d much rather fish fast with any type of moving bait but a wacky rig or ned rig just flat out catches fish !!

  • @NickBenderWeather
    @NickBenderWeather 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You are a one-stop shop for beginners and advanced anglers alike! Haven' had time to watch the video yet, but would you consider downsizing lures you'd typically throw on baitcaster gear to combat highly pressured fisheries, i.e. bladed jigs, jigs & squarebills? Thank you!

    Sup. Ty for another great video. I realized about line when fishing a drop shot. I always fish a drop shot even when not fishing it. I mean I can cast before a dam or waterfall, or where current and put in a rod holder like live bait. Then use another rod for something else? Hope that made sense lol. Ty again

    I love finesse fishing and where I live in Ohio it out-fishes traditional fishing most times... May sound dumb, but wonder what's going to happen when bass start figuring out all the finesse fishing and even way harder to catch,is that a possibility?

    Fish are also more likely to feel the presence line passing by if it’s twice as thick and heavy

    My wrist gets numb with spinning gear. What is the lightest finesse gear you would suggest? I can do 1/4 and above with my current medium fast action rod and Johnny Morris carbon light reel. Is there a setup that you suggest for a bait caster with Medium light rod and less then 1/4 lures? Thanks

    Who pays $9-10 a bag for senkos? Jacking the original price up and then "marking it down" to normal everyday price is not a sale. I can literally walk into any academy sports, walmart, bass pro, or even cabelas and get the same deal without paying for shipping.
