yes well explained, the Major diffrence between these two engines, Sports bike are short stroke engine and Royal Enfield bikes are long stroke engine's. so that higher Rpm of these two engine gets differs. at very clear we have three diffrent types of engine's 1. under square = cylindrical bore < storke length 2. over square= cylindrical bore > stroke length 3. square engine's = Cylindrical bore and stoke length are equal. so that bullet engines are under square engine's it requires time to travel that long bore but sports bike are over square engine, short time is enough to travel in short bore length. based on this RPM also differs. Video is good. Even the latest J series cannot go fast as it's long stroke engine built for torque. There are many factors like stroke - short/long/square / power to weigh ratio / gearing etc when it comes to on road performance.

RE couldn't achieve higher speed due to long stroke which leads to lower RPM, it is the main reason for its slow speed, also it has lower compression ratio and its body wieght which are secondary factors

Also here compression ratio plays a major role in speed and efficiency.. if you take FZ vs R15 both are 150cc but with lots of difference.. royal Enfield will have only 8 to 9 compression ratio where as R15 will have 11 or more i guess.. most manufacturers won't share this nos though
There are three types of bore x stroke type Long stroke engine Short stroke engine Square engine Long stroke engine ex royal enfield Short stroke engine ex R15 Square engine ex fz Long stroke as low compression ratio because stroke area is high when is bottom to top in between the fuel wil burn in between so only it was low R15 as big bore and short stroke so it need high compression 10 or 9 And also fz is five speed different gear ratio R15 6speed different gear ratio and combustion timing is differs my friend

Exactly gear have a major role but I want to add one more point, High torque engine(Royal Enfield) have long stroke length, where as in high speed engine stroke length is reduced almost equal to diameter of cylinder.

Good explanation bro. Some points to be considered 1. Air cooled engines are conservatively tuned compared to liquid cooled engines. This is done to reduce the heat produced by the air cooled engine as air flow is the only way of heat management for these engines. 350 cc bullet makes around 20 bh p while duke 390 with slightly larger liquid cooled engine makes more than double this power. 2. Enfield 350 comes with a 2 valve engine and hence compared to a duke 390's 4 valve engine, it gets less air and fuel suppled during every suction stroke 3. Enfield 350 cc engine is a long stroke engine (piston stroke is more than bore diameter) and they are known to produce more torque than power and that too at low and mid range rpms, while duke comes with a over square engine which can make more power and that too at higher range rpms 4. Weight of bullet is way higher than that of Duke

Even the mechanicals like all aluminium engine, dohc system and vvt makes it faster with shorter stroke ratio makes the 200cc bike faster than old school sohc cast iron long stroke motor…..
Another major reason for the speed difference is the difference in design between the two. Sports bikes have an aerodynamic design whereas Royal Enfield bikes do not 🙂

RE couldn't achieve higher speed due to long stroke which leads to lower RPM, it is the main reason for its slow speed, also it has lower compression ratio and its body wieght which are secondary factors
Another important thing, "stroke length" and its corresponding rated RPM was not mentioned here.

One thing is very important that is compression ratio. For sports purpose bike is so high. Eg. Bullet 8 5:1 and KTM duke 11.5:1

Also here compression ratio plays a major role in speed and efficiency.. if you take FZ vs R15 both are 150cc but with lots of difference.. royal Enfield will have only 8 to 9 compression ratio where as R15 will have 11 or more i guess.. most manufacturers won't share this nos though

Long stroke as low compression ratio because stroke area is high when is bottom to top in between the fuel wil burn in between so only it was low
R15 as big bore and short stroke so it need high compression 10 or 9
And also fz is five speed different gear ratio
R15 6speed different gear ratio and combustion timing is differs my friend

Exactly gear have a major role but I want to add one more point, High torque engine(Royal Enfield) have long stroke length, where as in high speed engine stroke length is reduced almost equal to diameter of cylinder.

Good explanation bro. Some points to be considered 1. Air cooled engines are conservatively tuned compared to liquid cooled engines. This is done to reduce the heat produced by the air cooled engine as air flow is the only way of heat management for these engines. 350 cc bullet makes around 20 bh p while duke 390 with slightly larger liquid cooled engine makes more than double this power. 2. Enfield 350 comes with a 2 valve engine and hence compared to a duke 390's 4 valve engine, it gets less air and fuel suppled during every suction stroke 3. Enfield 350 cc engine is a long stroke engine (piston stroke is more than bore diameter) and they are known to produce more torque than power and that too at low and mid range rpms, while duke comes with a over square engine which can make more power and that too at higher range rpms 4. Weight of bullet is way higher than that of Duke
