    The main reason is
    if you’re use huge diameter of cable
    We will get huge I^2 R losses on transmission line. so,( we get poor voltage at the terminal of traction motor it means if u operating at rated load we may get below the required rated voltage it’s going to very poor performance )
    When ever we transmit the power in long distance we should choose the voltage rating as maximum possible voltage ratings
    If u transmit the power to long distance using maximum possible voltage ratings
    In distribution side the transmit the power to the load distance is less so we can use less ratings of voltage like (440,230v) with huge amps no problem
    Bcoz distance is less loss also less.

    Anna, though we have reduced the current to 200A , still it is too much for the pantograph to be free from spark,i think.
    Is there any other reason for the pantograph to be free from sparks?

    • @gowthammang1104
      @gowthammang1104 ปีที่แล้ว

      Spark depends upon voltage stress...and ionizing the small air forms a plasma path to jump the electron and make the circuit close....spark u are seeing un avoidable because everywhere track is not uniform , some gap will be there between catanary and pantograph...so will surely ionizing the air gap to close the circuit..

    Spark depends upon voltage ....not current ..because actually electron s are jumping by ionzing the air...u know 1cm air needs 3kv voltage to ionize ....minimize the conductor size , IR drop is the main reason we going for high voltage....transformer is inside , converter inside , inverter inside etc.....this all loss depends upon current...that's y they provided high voltage.....but still they can go higher voltage ..but substations insulation , cost , protection device cost will increase..they optimized to 25kv ...that's it bro...

      Say you have a power of 2400 Watts generated by a ac generator you need to transfer it (for length of 100 m) via wire which has a resistance of 10 ohms if you choose to increase voltage rather than current for transfer of power with 240 v, then by p=vi , I =p/v(2400/240) which tends to I=10amps , the loss of power is p=ixi*r (10*10*10) =1000 Watts wasted due to resistance of wire out of 2400 Watts. What if you chose to increase current rather than voltage say v=10volts , p=vi, I =p/v(2400/10) , I =240 amps, power loss will be p=I*i*r(240*240*10) =576000 Watts the loss(as heat and light)is more than it's generation of power🤣 , am i right?

    bro voltage is directly proportional to current right. then how we can maintain low current with high voltage😑. I m a mechanical engineer, but after start to see your videos i m very exited to know about electrical things and also its will be very helpful to my work , hats off your work bro 🙌

    • @b.r.8528
      @b.r.8528 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey I'm a mechanical engineer as well, so high-five! That's a great question, so what happens is, the line supplies 25kV but the motors onboard the train only need 700 to 1000V to function, so there's an onboard stepdown transformer inside the train which reduces 25kV all the way down to to 1000V for the motor. Therefore, the current drawn by the onboard motors will reduce as well and will be proportional to the voltage (and also proportional to the resistance of motors) from the output of the onboard step-down transformer.
      Also, another interesting fact is, the supply line above the train is only single phase but the most efficient AC motor to drive a train is a 3-phase one (since trains need high & uniform torque), so there are rectifiers and inverters also installed onboard the train. The rectifier converts 1-phase AC to DC type current, and the inverter then converts DC to 3-phase AC again. This arrangement is way, way cheaper than running several thousand kms of 3 power cables (for three phase 25kV supply) all across the country and is also easier & less expensive to build (lower material costs, lower engineering cost, lower installation & testing manhours on field, lower crane hours on field and also lower maintenance costs over the train's lifetime). Hope that makes sense.

      @@dhineshk2463 BTW, when did you graduate from engineering college? Back when I studied mechanical engineering, we had a mandatory module called Electric Drives. It was one of the toughest subjects I took in my engineering course because it was highly mathematical and a bit too abstract for my understanding (I mean, how does one visualize the concept of electrical induction in an electric motor? LOL).

      @@b.r.8528 Actually I'm completed by 2020. And I also had an electric subject in my first four semesters. But that time I studied only for my exams . I wanted to start learning so many things when I started to work in my career. 😂

    கூடுதலாக ஒரே terminal wire மட்டுமே train மேலே செல்கிறது. மற்றொரு terminal எங்கே இருந்து கிடைக்கிறது..? என்பதை பற்றி விளக்கி சொல்லி இருந்தால் இன்னும் சிறப்பாக இருந்து இருக்கும்.
    அதையும் வீடியோவாக சொல்லுங்க...
