RS232 only works with ground, TX, RX. If you have a USB to serial converter with 9 pin plug then pin 2 =tx, pin 3 =rx, pin 5= ground. Then make sure to wire the TX to the RX on the other side of the cable and vice versa.

I have a 2016 30hr E tec which cable number is the one that you can plug in without running the motor , I have the triangle one and don't know the model number for the interface for the other one.

the connections are: black - gnd orange - txd yellow - rxd. on the connector to the emm it is red so I think he got confused that it is power?

Hi. Just for checking. Black cable is GND. Orange cable is 5V? Yellow is RTS?
