She’s just fantastic. She’s determined to shade her babies. They might not realize it’s for their own good. She just needs to encourage them into the shade. It’s hard keeping 3 larger chicks in check. Poor momma. Thanks SKH❤
My goodness she’s a wonderful beautiful mom I’ve never seen a mom of any kind move her chicks like she has she’s remarkable great mom I adore this family

The efforts that F24 goes to protect her chicks from the elements is amazing. I'm glad they all eventually got shade from the sun. I'm guessing F24 could have used food as an enticement to draw all three into the shade to begin with 😁🥰❤️🐥🐥🐥🐦🐦
F24 is a great mom...but suddenly she is "confused": her little ones have become "big" and no longer follow the rules that were fine until now....she too, like them, is learning and it is truly wonderful to be able to witness all this. A fantastic video, SK!!
Tysm SK for this amazing video 🤗 Clever little chicks, they knew what to do 😉 So relieved that #3 eventually joined the rest 😁 Fantastic captions as always 👍😍 This is going to be a wonderful family to watch grow 🥰❤️
What a wonderful mother she is. It is so very impressive how smart and well planned her actions are: At the beginning of the video she obviously first tests if the floor of the already shaded area has cooled down enough so that her chicks can comfortly recover there from the hot sun. Only after she is sure the temperature is okay she starts to gently manouver the chicks into the shaded area. Anybody out there still thinking that birds are stupid and have no feelings?
I have never seen raptors doing that. Yes falcons are more social than eagles and ospreys but this is indeed a first I have seen mum shielding a chick from sun.
I'm an Aussie and live in the country areas away from Melbourne. Yesterday was not a hot day, it was about 22-24C /71-75F and they face the east north east so it wasn't hot by any means. I was in Melbourne today and it was much warmer at about 29C/84F. I kept watch for flying Peregrines but alas didn't see any.
those stones would be getting hot, not great to walk or stand on! I bet they can all feel that the ledge is cooler in the shaded zone, through their feet.

Not sure I've seen a parent drag chicks this big around this much before--F24 is determined! Very good parenting indeed. 🥰

@@arsace1 Watch the FOBBV eagles as they build and rebuild their nest. They are obviously engaging in complex thinking and planning!
Wow! Don't think I've seen this before: mom herding chicks into the shade. Meanwhile, chick left behind waits for shade to come to HIM!❤
THANKS,.SK
Wow she’s so impressive she got them to come back to the nest I’d call that a brilliant move on moms part lol

What would happen if one of the chicks fell over the ledge are they safe being that close
all cuddled up for an after meal nap!
She just wants to shield them from the heat.

She should let all of them come on over to the shade lol
Where is this? How hot was the temp?
This is Melbourne. Peregrines thrive in all sorts of climates. The temperature does not pose a threat here.
Is the male completely gone now?
No. He's kept very busy hunting.
It would be 40c in the sun.
It is currently 28c.
