      It happened because you have low alert level, your mind is slow and your mind dont send signal to your left fingers to press the rear brakes to remove you from live skid. Your body is also too slow to send signals to your brain that you're in the motion of skid after the transition of road from asphalt to concrete. That is what happened you are not fit to ride a motorcycle, ask your doctor if they can give you supplements to improve your alert level, You cant even press a rear brakes after your body feels that your vehicle is on the skid motion. LEARN TO PRESS REAR BRAKES 1ST AFTER YOUR BOSY FEELS THAT YOU ARE IN THE SKID MOTION. ASK YOUR DOCTOR ON SUPPLEMNTS TO IMPROVE YOUR BRAIN AND BODY ALERTNESS.

      I disagree with most of the comments. I've been riding since the 1980's ... Sure wet and bad roads but the bike should NOT have tossed you like that. I had ABS malfunction on a dodge neon once and send me right into a tree once under similar circumstances. Wet roads, hit the breaks, but the ABS got confused so to prevent a lockup it released and let me go right off the road. .... I think similar situation here with the Honda traction control making a safety feature more dangerous under some conditions.

    • @RIVERSIDEREVIEWS
      @RIVERSIDEREVIEWS ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Also... hydroplaning... but still I don't think it should have tossed you like that at those speeds. You were going fairly slow and easy and even when you started loosing it you didn't over correct or grab a hand full of throttle or break. Bike and bad conditions more than rider fault.

      I get your point too. People writing about slow reaction time lol, your reaction time was fine. The bike literally lost traction for no reason, kind of upsetting really. I’m sorry you had this happen to you, such a good looking bike, and your nice gear too (helmet, backpack). Glad you’re ok. I hope you’re still enjoying the bike even though it has a few scratches now. Gives it character I suppose. God bless.

    You have to make a full stop before turning on/off the HSTC feature. Traction control system is supposed to decrease the power output of the engine when both wheels aren't synchronized.

    When the suspension rebounds, the weight will be thrown up into the air and the wheels will be unloaded. This is a state of low grip. Low grip means this TC assist system will kick in by pulsating on off on off power while you're on the throttle - this is how all traction assist works. It will be fine on a dry surface, but on wets, I think you need to be more considerate of it since there is much less grip and it could only give as much assist it can. The rest still relies on your skills. In your case, you accelerated out of the turn and into the bump, with the weight lifted due to suspension rebound, unloaded the wheels, transitioned into a less grippy portland cement surface, then on off on off power due to TC while on a corner exit where there is still momentum going to the outside. And when you felt it was gonna go you yanked that throttle out of reflex which further worsens it. That wheel will surely slip. In short, you pushed too hard for conditions. So don't use TC on wets if you think it might become unpredictable or if you really want to use TC on wets, "be mindful of the throttle, be aware of weight transfers and low grip scenarios", or you will be in for a wild ride. Lifting the throttle gently will help stop TC from acting up since it won't be active with no throttle input.
    Thank God you're not badly injured. Sometimes shit happens, happens to all of us, Hope this doesn't discourage you to ride bikes. Always gear up and ride safe. 👍

    Dont rely too much on the HSTC feature, being extra careful on the road is the key....The HSTC feature is always on default not unless you turn it off while the engine is on.

    • @stradskieworld
      @stradskieworld ปีที่แล้ว +2

      HSTC has nothing to do to prevent this accident. The HSTC slows the rev of the wheel incase it losses the grip on the road and detects unusual high spin of the wheel.

    • @normandydomingo3675
      @normandydomingo3675 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stradskieworld Applying too much throttle abruptly may cause an unexpectedly large amount of power to be sent to the rear wheel, causing it to spin and make the machine unstable. The Traction Control System (TCS) minimizes such worries by automatically adjusting the drive force sent to the rear wheel.

    The same thing happened to me 2 years ago, my bike slipped the exact same way and I broke my collarbone. You need to be very careful when you exit the asphalt, as these stone slabs have very little friction. Thanks for uploading, a nice reminder to drive slowly when it's raining!!!

    • @tylertang2110

      agreed with you, the most likely cause of his slippage probably due to the lack of friction as he transition from the asphalt on slippery surface and he clearly try to accelerate on top of that with the rain and his wheel spin out of control before it has a chance to re-grip back to the road. I can clearly see he was over confident after he enable HSTC and attempt to drive faster then he should in the rain. Live and learn and hope it don't happen again stay safe out there my friend.

  • @johonaction
    @johonaction ปีที่แล้ว +19

    hello just a rider observation, several factors here caused your crash and to mention those factors are the road surface condition, throttle control also tire grip, considering you have a stock dual sport tire the grip is not the best that there is especially at wet surface, your tire grip couldnt keep up with your throttle control and also the rear wheel speed considering also that the road was slippery and the sudden transition from asphalt to concrete surface which may explain the HSTC failure to prevent your rear wheel from sliding

    • @RommelTimonera

      I agree 100%. Wheels that are too new or not heated enough, rain and the condition of the road surface. 45km/h seems not much, but the road was also slightly downhill and all these conditions, with gravity, did the rest.

    As soon as the motorcycle leaves the workshop, the tires should be changed for personal safety. Factory tires have to be changed unlike high powered motorcycles. Indeed, it often happens to motorcycle scooter users, especially 150 to 250cc, to fall due to poor factory tire grip. If you can change a good tire, for example Pirelli Corsa or Pirelli Angle Scooter. Good for dry roads or wet roads. Be safe bro

      I am 70 years old. I have been riding since I was 17 years old.
      My first bike was a Kawasaki Mach 2 500 cc. later I had 2 H2 750's before I was twenty. The last one fitted with expansion chambers and ported.. I could ride well then. In company with a few Grand Prix winners on the street. I was a successful club racer in Road race and Moto Cross. I managed two retail outlets for Kawasaki and rode every second hand bike the shops had that interested me. My bikes in Australia are currently a BMW Dakar 650 and a little 125 MadAss, . I have owned a galaxy of Superbikes. in the last 50 years. I have always had two motorcycles.
      When I move to Thailand finally in January I will have a Honda new ADV 160 to ride in Phuket Town. A practical little bike I can park and not grieve over if it is stolen.
      At the moment I am negotiating the purchase of of a MV Agusta LXP Orioli triple and a Limited Edition 921s I will be picking up in Italy in June.
      I DON"T THINK ANY OF THESE THREE BIKES WILL KILL ME WITH FACTORY FITTED TYRES. HA HA HA

    • @caferacerinthailand
      @caferacerinthailand 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry, Nonsense! Tyres had very little to do with it.
      My post to him:
      It appears you high sided because of heavy front braking and opposite lock on handle bars after loosing rear wheel traction caused by the ripples in the road. The braking was the worst thing you could have done.
      The opposite lock may have straightened the bike if you could have put power to the ground. But not likely on the ADV and in the wet. It is a classic motocross response action or even a move to be used on a high performance road bike or caferacer , not a bike with an automatic gearbox. The high side eventuated because of improper front brake use at that time, Maybe the traction control had a part in the crash.
      I am relieved to know that you were not seriously hurt and that your beloved ADV 160 was not badly damaged.
      Practicing very low speed power sliding on fine gravel using the throttle only will help improve your skill set. You probably want to used an old bike rather than your new one.

    i feel on top of increasing throttle too soon its just risky going into corners in that weather at the speed your going at 15-10kph slower might have give you abit more time to react my guess aswell the traction control was optimally set meaning you had too much torque coming out of the corning causing a the loss of traction on the back wheel skidding out from behind

At 1:54 you can see as you lean into the corner the bike becomes unsettled crossing the uneven join from bitumen to concrete. (SloMo at 2:00) As the bike bounces a little, the grip of the tyres on the road lessens. This, plus the wide line, the wet road, the lean into the corner and the speed (45kph) result in the accident.
    As I’m sure you’ve already heard from others, you were lucky there was no oncoming traffic, and also lucky you didn’t hit a gutter with your body.

    As a fellow rider, sa observation ko sa video mo is:
    1. Uneven yung kalsada which is from asphalt ay bigla semento.
    2. Then may bouncing effect na nangyari.
    3. Nag skid ang rear tire mo kasi iba ang frictional force ng asphalt sa cement road.
    4. Nag activate ang HSTC short for (traction control) due to the fact that nagkaroon ng sudden change sa frictional force kasi magkaiba ang rotational motion from asphalt and cement road kaya nag automatic mag adjust ang rear tire mo.
    5. Due to rain and slippery road is nawala ang center of balance mo dahil na din sa pag activate ng HSTC kaya ka tuloy2x na nagskid
    6. Nagpanick ka and nahawi mo ang manubela mo to the right in the same direction kung saan papunta ang nagsskid mong rear tire kaya nag flip ang motor mo and tumilapon ka.

    @1:53 - i think..ur still on the curve...
    accelaratìon was too soon climbing to 43-45kph while balance was not yet regained fully...thought might be best to leave an open throttle...until curve is completed...

    You accelerated while on a slight turn on a slippery surface after a small bump causing your front to slide and your rear to move forward, on top of that you turned back to the right before the slide happened, causing you to high side. Remember, you have more grip on your rear when accelerating and more grip on your front when braking. A high side is way more dangerous than a low side. Your lucky there was no incoming traffic.

    Traction control was not at optimum. I can see throttle increase prior to crash. Rear tire skid (due to higher rev and tire revolution). It was maybe instinct that reved up after the bump that ultimately caused the rear tire to skid and caused the crash. Glad you are fine. Ride Safe. Cheers!

    It appeared to me that your front shock damping was set a bit lite. If you watch leading up to the crash you can see the forks oscillating more cycles than I would expect is proper on each bump. When it hops like that it makes your front lite when you may need the traction. This could cause your front wheel to lock up then grab the pavement as it comes back down. Of course the change in pavement was also a big culprit. Pavement with lines in it def makes it hard as the bike always wants to follow the grooves more than your steering. Finally, there may have been one additional factor depending on how you ride or if your bike has separate brake controls. It's possible just prior to the crash that you may have used front brakes more so than the back brakes, or locked the back brakes up causing the rear to come around. Most likely all three factors came into play along with wet road. Kinda hard to avoid, but def check your damping adjustment. One more bit of advice, new bike.. new tires are slick and many even have tire conditioner still on them which can be treacherous when going from center of the tire to the side in a turn. Clean em off n break em in before trusting em like your old ones or the ones on your last bike. Good luck

    Don't forget, the ADV 160 is a scooter pretending to be an ADV.
    I'm buying one in January, so I am not a big bike snob or a bighead .
    While there is a trend for many advertisers and manufacturers to call scooters ADV bikes, this is a nonsense. They are scooters not motorcycles . The Honda ADV 750, in my opinion, is still just a large capacity scooter and I would never entertain having something like that. Different horses for different courses.
    Adventure motorcycles are large and heavy but powerful and comfortable, these bikes are usually in the range of 500-1200 cc or bigger;
    (some say as small as 400cc but I believe anything bigger than 1000cc should be called a pig, often its a very fat and heavy pig). ).
    Adventure bikes are great on-road and tolerable off-road . Aimed at riders who do high mileage and venture off-road occasionally, these bikes are capable of a weekend getaway or a two-year Round The World Trip.
    They handle very differently and are ridden in a different way than scooters are.
    How is a little automatic scooter, struggling to keep up with highway traffic, an ADV?.
    There is a recent trend for many advertisers and manufacturers to call scooters ADV bikes and this is a nonsense.
    Ride safe everyone. Always care well for your treasured machine, whatever it is!

In fact traction gave up as soon as you entered that patch of road surface and to make it worse you where already in a curve so tire grip was reduced.
