For everyone wondering, he's an electrical engineer and had his own business for years that's filed taxes just a couple of months ago. He's fine just not interested in making / doesn't have time for videos. Simple as that.
I also am in the boat of since youtube likes to demonitize videos now, it also put a damper on him wanting to make videos.
Figured with how mad things are nowadays he has his hands full.

The ironic thing is that if Andy had continued posting regularly, he’d have probably had a few million subscriptions by now - along with product/sponsor/membership revenue streams. He could easily be doing this full time and in a new big house out in the country making very large bangs and flashes without worrying any neighbours lol. Proof that not all chinesium is weak or badly built. Nearly 3x the nominal voltage applied and still did not pop immediately.
I was quite scared about flywheel or encoder exploding but no, did not happen.

I think this is one of the few channels I’ve been watching for over a decade
considering this motor was rated 180V, the fact that it reached 510V or so until it finally gave out was absolutely jaw dropping. And then it KEPT GOING.

thou I'd of thought there would be a little redundancy built into the motor considering the somewhat harsh environment it has to work in.
I'd doubt a cheaper motor would last very long...
I don't think the motor actually failed at 500v. I think the lubricating grease did.
Even though they are old tech, DC motors are surprising resilient and powerful.

So 170 Revolutions per minute, the average length of a treadmill track is 5 feet long, or say for sake of argument 11 feet in total, that's 1870 feet per minute, or almost 35km/h, or 21 miles per hour, so it would take an Olympic sprinter to be able to run on this, which is still pretty impressive

Yeah, I was surprised there was no 500v emergency reverse test performed. Very unsafe to overlook this important test.

You would have had to include the relay in there, that little 8 pin relay likely would simply have arced over and burnt itself to a crisp first. Not enough contact separation to survive and extinguish the arc, you would need to have a proper double breaking contactor with 4 poles, 2 NC and 2 NO, with break before make contacts, to have any hope of surviving that.

My first job when I left school was winding the armatures on PM motors for a company called Klaxon in Birmingham back in 1988. We used to do stuff like this in the test room to see how far we could push a set of windings. Good times!
