I have never been able to go to a Yarn Festival. I hade tickets for a festival here in Sweden when the pandemic broke out. I had plans to go to another later this month, but my health has put a stop to that too. I haven't given up hope, that some day the stars will aline and I get to go to a Yarn Festival at last. At this point I would be happy to attend any Yarn Festival really. If I can dream, I would love to go to all of the big ones, like Rhinebeck, Barcelona and yours in Edinburgh of course. Until that happens, I'm vicariously enjoying you podcasters sharings and reports. Thanks for another cozy episode, Amy!

My favorite has to be the Scottish Yarn Festival that I was lucky enough to visit with my sisters on Sept 9! We enjoyed ‘blathering’ a bit with Amy and drooling over the various Gallus scarves. I do love my Scottish Yarn Festival yarn in the color Tait. It was such fun to chat with Eva and Katie, too.❤

Hi Amy, all of your knits are really fabulous! I love your poncho, agreed, it is perfect for a chilly day to warm up and luxuriate in the coziness. All of your Stephen West shawls are truly stunning, wow! I’m looking forward to seeing the progress in the new shawl. I absolutely loved my visit to Scotland especially attending the Scottish Yarn Festival! It was quite warm that day and as a result not able to wear my shrug. I truly loved attending the knit night and seeing the massive mound of yarn for the yarn exchange. I enjoyed meeting everyone especially you and Rebecca!!! ❤️I am missing Scotland, a truly beautiful country and so welcoming. I would really like to attend the Wool and Folk festival one year, it sounds like a lot of fun and mostly the opportunity to purchase yarn I would not otherwise have access to. Thank you for the podcast in spite of recovering from a cold. Looking forward to the next one!.

If I got the chance and the air ticket my choice would be the Scottish Wool Producers Showcase (think that's how you named it). I want to get my hands on some of those small batch yarns that I may never get to see and squish living where I do.

Amy, I love your poncho! If you are looking for a new pattern to write up, you are wearing it already and I would love to wear one too. I love attending yarn festivals. We are lucky to have several near where I live. The best thing about yarn festivals is meeting the people. I've met many friends through yarn festivals and in fact, I now work for one of them now at her alpaca farm! ❤

Hi Amy, You will love Rhinebeck!!! This will be my 16th year in attendance. There are several vendors at Rhinebeck that are from the area. My favorite is Long Island Farm and Yarn in Building C. Tabitha is a doll and her yarn is exquisite. Miss Babs, Fiber Optics and many other US vendors are also in Building C. I also love the project bags by Madder Root Maine in Building 31. Don't forget to get some Cider Donuts they are amazing!!!! I love fiber festivals. It is the best feeling to be amongst other people who have love to spend lots of time making beautiful garments!!!!

I’ve only been to a small local yarn festival. But I’ve gone every year for the last five years and my favorite part is going with my friend and sharing the experience of seeing a sea of colors and feeling all the textures. It’s such a sensory experience! ❤ 🧶

Hi Amy! Hope to see you at Rhinebeck this year ❤ Yarn not to be missed is all the special farm yarns that’s hard to get elsewhere like Wing and a prayer. Tammy is an amazing special person! Loop fiber studio for her yin-yang yarn, or fiber bumps if you spin. Green mountain spinnery is good value. Boondoggle farms has lovely products. For very very local, Jill Draper makes stuff hosts a Sat pm Open studio event in nearby Kingston. Her yarn is locally grown and dyed and so so yummy!! Fox Hill farms has delicious cormo. Harrisville designs for their Daylights or Nightshades. Go with a budget in mind or a limitless credit card 😂 The button vendors are awesome too!! Take a break and watch the sheep events and give some scratches to our woolie friends!! Enjoy ❤❤❤

Yarn Festival: I was hoping to go to Rhinebeck this year, my first fiber event, but hubby has taken ill so I cannot make it. Hopefully next year, doctors said to keep fingers crossed and stay optimistic. 👍
The gift of an entire palette of Scottish yarn is, imo, magnificent! There were two of my Ancestors' names: Gordon and Wallace. ALL the colors are dreamy.

The things i love most about attending a yarn festival is reconnecting with knitty friends. I also love seeing what new venders there are. Of course, also all the yarn and fibre! We have our own here in Southwestern Ontario, Canada next weekend, the Woolstock Fibre Festival. Im very much looking forward tk it! I love the colours youve chosen for your MKAL! I cant wait to see all the shawls knit up. I have decided to go with the crochet square idea for my Clue 1. This has all been a huge test of humanity, and I want to cry for Stephen, and the people who were harmed or triggered by the symbol. However, we pivot, and continue onward and upward. 💗💗💗

Some amazing women who run small farms here (and I believe will be at NYS&W selling their yarn) include Paula from White Barn Farm, Amanda from Prado de Lana, and Tammy from Wing and a Prayer. Also, Sunday morning Jill Draper holds an open studio (free, but ticketed on her website) Sunday morning that is such a wonderful way to ease into the day and experience her amazing yarn. Hope you enjoy all the festivals and maybe we will get to say hello! -Jess

Although I went to Rhinebeck last year for the first time (and had a marvelous time), my favorite yarn festival is the one that is local to me - Wisconsin Sheep and Wool. It is always on a lovely weekend in September and I go with a friend or two and meet up with others there. There are many laughs, a lot of knitting talk, looking at sheep, herding dog trials, beautiful yarn, and a fun dinner or lunch somewhere in there, too. It’s such a lovely time.

I love the angled ribbing extending downward on the neckline of your poncho design. The drape and the colour are also terrific. I have been to my local yarn festival two or three times, and the most memorable was when I won an extravaganza of a prize, to which each of the yarn vendors contributed something. It was huge! Festival has become so successful that it moved to a new venue, and I got really ticked off because the parking fee was exorbitant and that made me feel like I needed to buy something to make the cost of the parking worthwhile.(had I won a prize at that one perhaps I wouldn’t have felt so ticked?)

Unfortunately in the Uk I managed to visit only a couple of minor yarn festivals but here in Australia I visited Bendigo - The sheep and wool festival - in JUly. It is the biggest in the country and I enjoyed it enormously but the best part of this experience was meeting people I had connected with through my podcast and my test knits...the social aspects and the enthusiasm, kindness and inclusivity of the knitting community are so precious and never cease to amaze me. Lovely podcast Amy, hope you're feeling better! You certainly got some lovely yarn acquisitions, & how lovely is that Scottish Yarn Festival Custom Blend. What you've chosen for the Geogradient MKAL - will be beautiful. The yarn you wanted for the Tomorrow pullover is stunning, but as they say, should always do a swatch to see if the cables will work 😉 I think you're right though, it might be drapey for cables. I've only been to one Yarn festival as I live in Australia, as there are not that many here TBH. But I think the best thing about when I went was connecting with other makers, and meeting the suppliers of various products. The highlight for me though was the dogs rounding the sheep up, that was fun

Hi, Amy, unfortunately in Romania, where I live, no yarn festivals are held. I so much wish I were able to go to such an event because here it is very difficult to find natural fiber yarn. We can buy only synthetic blends imported from Turkey. I wish they would hold these festivals in summertime the only time when I am able to travel. I am a teacher so I can not take leave from school in autumn when Rhinebeck , The Scottish Yarn Festival and others happen. That's why I thank you for all the updates on these events. It' s such a treat to follow your posts.

Great to see you again, Amy! I love your poncho, it looks great on you, and the color really suits you. I hope you publish the pattern! My favorite yarn festival was the one I attended this past August, The Michigan Fiber Festival. I attended with my husband, which was a treat. He enjoys a day away, and I think he wanted to keep an eye on my purchases! The only downside is that the temps were in the 90s F (30s C) 🥵

Can’t wait for you poncho release- it caught my attention the very first photo you posted of it!!
Fiver festival- in September we had the Shenandoah fiber festival the same weekend as a tropical storm came through so I second guessed going but I geared up and as I got closer to the show I got so excited and it made my heart sing and that type of emotional response is what means the world to me!!! ❤

Always nice to see all of your completed projects and the colors for your MKAL. This weekend I attended my first yarn festival. It was the Santa Fe Sheep and Yarn Festival in Santa Fe New Mexico. There were alot of vendors with Alpaca yarns. My goal was to find a soft natural undyed yarn. I found a lovely one complete with a photo of Emma the Alpaca . I invited two girlfriends who hadn't been getting along for several months. They repaired their friendship while enjoying our mutual love of knitting.

Wow Amy. You are so nonchalant about that amazing Corrie-in poncho! It looks gorgeous and I love the design. I having been trying to find a poncho pattern I like. I am hoping you write a pattern for Corrie-in, but you've inspired me to experiment. As usual, all of your knots are lovely and your podcast such a great knitting companion. Thank you!

Hi Amy...it was lovely to spend time with you again...always a relaxing time! I love your poncho and all of your yarn hauls. As for the cable sweater that you would like to knit...I have knit a few cable sweaters and find that a heftier yarn is great for showing off the cables. Enjoy your trip to Rhinebeck!

Hi Amy, thanks for yet another very inspiring episode.
My absolute dream fibre journey would be…..
Me taking my lovely Shetland Sheepdog Liza with me, and first travel to Edinburgh for your Scotland yarn festival, then taking the boat to Shetland, living in a rent cottage and photographing Shetland Island for a couple of weeks, then staying for the Shetland Wool Week. After that, going home to Sweden and knit knit knit….. 🙏🥳🙏🥳🙏

You’re always such a delight Amy. ❤ You have such beautiful projects. Here’s a thought about your shawl. I sometimes struggle making stuff just for me if I’ve meant to make it into a design. How about finish that beautiful shawl but free yourself from being meticulous with your stitch counts and just make it for yourself to wear? That yarn is gorgeous and you’ve put so much effort into making it. And that red poncho brings me back to my teens when ponchos were a thing. My mom made quite a few for me and my sister. Seeing yours makes me want to make one for myself. ❤

Hello Amy, unfortunately there are not as many YARNFESTIVALS here in the Netherlands as yours.
And if there is one, it is too far away.
Actually, it's a good thing, I should build a room on my house for all that beautiful yarn.
But I enjoy your stories and pretend I'm there too.
All the things that you make, I ❤️ it !
    Knitting greetings from Lily🌸

First of all, please feel better! Ah... yarn festivals. I would love to attend them all, but first, I'd like to start with one close to home, which is the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. Those colors for the Scottish Yarn Festival yarn are gorgeous! I hope you have a wonderful time at Rhinebeck!

Hi lovely Amy Your kind soul always shines through your videos. I have been to one fibre festival, it was in Edmonton , Alberta, Canada. Called the Fibre Frolic. I felt like a child on Chrismas morning when I was able to walk through and see all the fibre. but also meeting the people who all felt the same as me about yarn was utterly amazing!!
