    I built a sleeper PC in the 90's with an old slimline tower server case, I think I was running a Cyrix 6x86 processor and as much storage and memory as I could afford. The house I was in got robbed and they completely ignore my PC, which was good as it was the most expensive thing in the room.

      I love it... another reason to go retro with your computer case. You were really ahead of the curve with a sleeper in the 90s...

      See goes to show even when people steal they dont truly know what they're looking for. Great story and glad you got to keep your old PC.

      You don't buy noctua for the looks. You buy it for the damn near bulletproof design.

      They have a clip that keeps the switch in place when you press it, remove that clip and you now have a push button, just take a contact to connect it to your motherboard

    No tall tower coolers in these old cases. A 92mm may fit. Probably safer just to use a down draft cpu cooler.

    Gonna put a RTX 3060ti in an old Compaq Presario tower frm ‘98, I got lucky and it’ll just fit a micro-ATX board in there :D Also got lucky since it has a built in bay for a HDD, so I’m going to have an SSD on the board and an HDD in the bay, really hyped for it! xD

    I have a Dell Dimension XP machine and a Dell GTX 520 that I would like to do sleeper projects on. My main concern is MOBO size and fitting relocated standoffs on the cases. I'll look through some of your other videos to see if you have addressed that. I appreciate this channel it's very informative thank you.

    I cheated. Got early 9x ATX case and just stuck a more "modern" motherboard in it. Still wanted single-core DOS machine so it's only a Pentium 4 in a Pentium-era case. PCI soundblaster for audio compatibility, few tweaks in bios to speed up or slow down the CPU and the job is done.

    What do you suggest I do for an old Dell Dimension 1100/ B110 that I want to replace with new components.

    • @GamingRetro
      @GamingRetro  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very common machines, though I haven't personally worked with one. Looks like a microATX will fit in there just fine, paired with a low-rise cpu cooler should be fine. Might be a tight fit for some larger video cards.

      One thing I've done is use a USB hub so that I don't have to read around to the back... the other option is to install a USB panel into one of the 3.5 or 5.25 drive bays.
