Yes, 32gb is still overkill for gaming. It makes a very negligible amount of performance difference. Mostly you just want it to be as fast as your mobo/processor allows. Also he didn't want to purchase a hole saw because he didn't wanna spend the cash for something he would not use much after completing the build...so why would he spend just as much or more on a step bit? Those things can be anywhere from 20-60 dollars at lowe's and I will only buy one if my employer is letting me use the company card. To be fair though, you can find them pretty cheap online, but they dull too fast to be worth it.

I built a sleeper for work. We work hard at work but only for short periods of time. Sometimes we have a lot of down time and we're allowed to play games as long as the work gets done for the day. So we knock it out and then you can do w/e you want pretty much except sleep. The only problem is the work PCs are very limited and cant really play anything great. So I decided to bring in a mini itx from home. The only problem was the IT guys were not as thrilled as I was about the RGB fans and lights and soon I was told by my boss it needed to go back home :(. So to get around this I took one of the old towers we had in the storage closet that were discarded by the IT guys. I pretty much did the same thing you did but no where near as nice I just needed functionality. It worked great and is much lower key and I've gotten a few weird looks by the IT guys as to why i'd want to run the old obsolete tower but I just tell them I like it and they just shrug. Now I can game at 144hz :) on an old sleeper pc at work. It's great!

Nice! If i were to daily use it, i would drill some more holes at the bottom of the case and install ~1 inch feet to give some leverage and breathing room for the GPU. Great work overall!

Nice job man, really well done. Tho, why not use an SFX PSU? Would have fit w/ much less modification and are available in highly efficient 80+ Gld, Pltnm etc. varieties w/ sufficient wattage for that setup.

  • @flipicaneze
    @flipicaneze 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Nice build. The only thing I would change is using an SFX power supply from Corsair or Seasonic to save up some space and further help with cable management.

William Wilson it looks like the case already had mounting brackets for an sfx already as well.

I was wondering....maybe you could build a sort of „Reverse Sleeper“ PC...?
You know, big flashy case with all the RGBs, big a$$ RGB fans, the works....with a 486 in it.
This would be quite hilarious. Anyone? No? Just me then? Ok, cool...

Very nice! I am slowly gathering parts for my first PC build and decided to go with a sleeper build because I found a really nice old ATX case for $35 delivered. There's just something so cool about a powerful system hidden away inside something so unassuming. Can't wait to put my own system together, and videos like this are a huge inspiration!! ^_^

I had pretty much that exact model E machines as a kid. Specs were:
    1 GHZ Celeron, 1 core - I think socket 370
128 MB SD RAM - 1 slot / single channel
    20 HDD
    x16 CDRW Drive
    3.5 inch Floppy Drive
    PCI 56K modem
    PCI 100 MB NIC
    Onboard 4 MB GPU
Windows XP 32bit, service pack nothing, they were not out yet lol
It could barely play Star Craft lol
