Thank you for your advice Mr. John, but I want to know from you the process to write a review paper coz as you know it is completely different from the journal article
Dear Prof. Pete Carr, thank you for sharing this efficient, time-saver algorithm with your clear explanation. I am looking forward to apply this method for my studies. Kind regards.
Hi Prof Pete Carr, I am writing to let you know that your piece of information is of great value and intelligence. simply and well explained. thank you
My master program supervisor educated me regarding the articles reading and ensure me which portion I have to read carefully includes Abstract, last paragraph of introduction and directly jump to conclusions and discussion. I am following this trick since long time and I found good understanding of articles.
How come youtube never recommended me this channel? After seven years i got to know about it, why YT why? Thank u so much professor and praying for ur well being
Dear Prof Carr, you're amazing and all your videos are "gems" ...you used to say these words about other people's jobs, but you are a "gem" of knowledge and you're an example for everyone! Thank you so much!! all students love you!
I have read lots of papers and honestly, for most time, I didn't understand them at all. Thanks a lot Prof. Pete Carr, I will try your method to read paper from now on!
I am really interested in the Research Field but I have been thinking how would I begin. So I searched on TH-cam "How to read a research paper" then found this video. It was really understandable and simple! My journey in this field has become easier at first place for your wonderful video. Thank you Prof. Carr
Thank so much Prof Pete, This is very very helpful, I wasted my time reading a lot of papers ineffectively. I used the same way the professor Pete W. Carr explained to read the paper. It took me less than an hour to read a paper and find out a gap.
For those of us who have a genuine passion for our area of study, your insights and wisdom hold more value than any new "modern" techniques and trends, helping us establish a strong foundation. Thank you Prof. Carr
For reading research paper Step 1: Read abstract and keywords Step 2: Conclusion Step 3: If you find above two steps helpful for your research paper then read completely from Strating to the end. If not read another research paper. Why reading research paper useful for you ? Because its increase ability of your writing. More reading more you perfect in research paper writing.
Thank you! I think your video help me a lot. As a Chinese student, it's very difficult to read a English paper. The correct way can help me improve my efficiency.
How to get the most out of the paper -> two phases : 1st step survey -> stop when you get distracted . Go : title -> abstract -> conclusion -> figures & tables-> results and discussion -> make notes after you’ve read the paper. “The faintest writing is better than the best memory”
Thank you Prof Pete Carr, Your videos encourage me and make difficulties to write an article clear in order to avoid them. Following your from Morocco With best ragard

Thank you for the advices Professor. Can you please make a video about tips and guidelines for writing a literature review of an area of research? Some tips which can be helpful for a new graduate student. Thank you
Dear Dr. Pete Carr thank you so very for this informative, great and helpful video . I am a first year grad Student and I have big assignments. You save me with this video . Thank you so very for your time ! Blessed your heart!
Thanks a lot Professor. It is really helping me a lot. I watched the video before going to sleep last night & started applying the method since this morning & it's really working! Thanks again.
thank you very much for the great advises and videos, it is took me days to understand how should i read a scientific paper but by watching prof.Pete Carr's videos i finaly understand everything , i am greatfull , sincerely yours....
My professor told me to read direct and indirect references. Research papers, especially technical manuscripts are hard to understand, hence we should always study the annotated bibliography, footnotes and reference list to get the actual hang of things! like it will help you to understand where the academician is coming from(formal background wrt to research hypothesis) and as to which school of thought is being followed.
Why didn't I find this earlier!!!! Prof.Carr this video is so incredibly clear, it made everything a thousand times easier! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
6:40 I'm surprised that this saying is cited. There's a similar one: Reading a thousand times with your eyes is less than writing one time with your hand (眼过千遍不如手过一遍). Writing always helps you memorize things!
Thank you so much Prof. for your tips l will follow them correctly. And I will read papers patiently to be more understand and to get the benefits from what I will read.
Tips: 1.TO make sure whether the paper is worth deep reading by three points[30 seconds] 1) title and keywords 2)abstract 3)conclusions 2. when you decided to read furtherly 1)figures and table 2) Introduction 3) Heart of the paper: results and the discussion HAVE GOT ENOUGH INFORMATION --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4)experimental 5)Take notes: using some system that would be easily organized in the future.(I recommend Marginote)
Quote in Chinese was: 好记性不如烂笔头 Or what I prefer & resounds more: 纸上得来终觉浅,绝知此事要躬行, which roughly translates into: Those you learn from paper will always be shallow, to know, you have to do. (write, in this case)
I read a couple of papers recently at least 5 to 7 times over a week until I really understood them, because they were very relevant to my research. I agree with what you say.
I'm a teaching focused academic in Math/Physics and unfortunately every paper I've ever written (about 6 in total) has been pretty awful. Hopefully, if I keep listening to the advice of people like Professor Carr, my papers can be less awful.
Key Notes:
1. Don't read article from beginning to end
2. Surveying the article
* Read title and keywords

3. Phase II

I think here all sections of the paper are included so shortly we need to read whole paper.

This helped A LOT. I didn't even read half the article to get all of the questions right. I got this done in probably half the time.
