There is something about this song that drives you to another place.
Sadly it may not have the same (VERY DESERVED) recognition of Mahmood, but... this is so special.
I know that for MANY Italians, eurofans included, it may not be appreciated, but Diodato deserves this international exposition.

I'm glad you like this! So much of the fandom is hating on it and saying it will get Italy's worst result since their comeback but I think that chorus is SO FREAKING GOOD! I was in love with this song the moment I heard it and I think people are really underestimating it. Italy has always been in my top 10 since 2012 :)

    • @yombrown7637
      @yombrown7637 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

Because sadly the majority of the fandom nowadays is 12 year olds who don't know anything about how Eurovision works and will hate on anything which isn't a pop song. This will do fine, it reminds me of 2013 when people said Italy would finish dead last and lessenziale was boring af, then it happily made the top ten. Not to mention the Italian voting block is so strong now that they are automatically guaranteed higher than 20th.

Fun fact: Diodato dedicated this song to his ex "Levante" who also participated in Sanremo. They are very mature people so their story didn't end in drama and both respect each other highly. I want to specify this because although the song is a sad ballad, it doesn't talk about losing love due to betrayal (it's just about two people that stopped talking like they used to).
The rumor that this song is dedicated to her comes from another singer "Coez". It sounds like a scene from a movie: Levante was backstage listening to Diodato performing, and someone overheard Coez telling her "you know he talks about you, right?". Every media is talking about this now.

Pls guys read lyrichs cause it's really strong and deep!
    Make Noise
    You know what I think
    That I shouldn't be thinking
That if I think about it then, I'm an animal
And if I think about you, you're a soul
    But maybe it's this storm
    That takes me to you
And I know you shouldn't find me
    Without an umbrella, even though
    I understood that
    However much I run away
    I always return to you
    Who makes noise here
And I don't know if it's good for me
    If your noise fits me
    But make noise, yes
    Because I can't stand
    This unnatural silence
    Between you and me
And I go around without speaking
Without a destination to arrive to
    I'm wearing down my shoes
    And perhaps my shoes
Know all too well where to go
That I find myself in the same places again
Exactly those places that I should have avoided
    And I pretend I don't remember
    And I pretend to forget
    But I understand that
    However much I run away
    I always return to you
    Who makes noise here
And I don't know if it's good for me
    If your noise fits me
    But make noise, yes
    Because I can't stand
    This unnatural silence
    Between you and me
    But make noise, yes
    Because I can't stand
    This unnatural silence
And now I don't want to do without
    This beautiful noise you make

This song talks about loss: a loss of love, a loss of a person. When this happens, the loss makes noise in your heart. "Ma fai rumore qui" ("But you make noise here"). I hope one time subtitles will finally used at ESC for not English songs. Lyrics are so important.

Hi, Matt ! It was so funny watching your face like "what did just hit me ? " Indeed this song hits us, even if we don't understand the words. It hits us because of the powerful, emotional interpretation, the orchestra, the accents put right were they belong. Antonio knows when to push the pedal and when to release it, he knows how to breathe , how to open his mouth in order that the sound comes out in a perfect shape. He sings with his entire face, his body and his hands, obviously because he is italian and there is no other way for them . I adore the classic sound, the piano, the violins , the chorus having the right volume, everything is carefully put in this song, with care and love. I miss too the orchestra at the Eurovision . I am 57 years old, i watched every San Remo since i was 10, but i don't remember listening to a more beautiful song. You are wrong being ashamed to cry in front of the camera, it is your mother in your head telling you " behave yourself, boys don't cry " But u know what ? Boys do cry from time to time and it's ok :) " Fai rumore " in this specific song means " Speak up wats in your heart and soul, make beautiful noise, speack the truth " . The song it's about that horrible silence,"silenzio innaturale" that follows a break-up after a beautiful and intense love story . It is about saying things that are not polite, they hurt , they are not convenient , but necessary. I am affraid this song won't win the Eurovision Contest, because the guy is too normal , he is not gay, no trans, no black, no fat, no persecuted or coming from a persecuted minority. He is just normal, singing about normal feelings, a perfect artist in a nonperfect contest. Tommorow his new album " Che vita meravigliosa" (" What a wonderful life ") will be released and i can hardly wait to listening to that amazing heavenly voice.

I love your reaction cos it was an image of mine. When I heard FAI RUMORE for the first time I was in shock. I had to listen to him 7 times in a row (I could not believe it). I hear rumors FAI RUMORE is trying to say that just the mere thought, rumor, or image of the love I used to feel for you make me feel you again. The part when he says my shoes are worn off of looking for u, perhaps they know where to find u means where there was love there is still love. There is so much passion and raw love in the phenomenal lyrics and his delivery, that if u have a soul u cry all the way with this song. NO wonder he won!!!! OF course "rumors" are just a metaphor meaning rumors are just the smoke of love that an extinguished love leaves behind when u r not longer together.

    • @giovannimoriggi5833
      @giovannimoriggi5833 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Well, in Italian language the meaning of the words 'fai rumore' are referring only to make noise, nothing to do with english 'rumours', even if 'rumours' has that root. It's possibile to extend the meaning in that sense in Italian as well, and in some way could be the starting point of this expression, but here it goes definitely like something more personal and material, like some real noise that stuck in your mind, there's no any view on the outer world in the lyrics of this song.

    Beautiful song performed to perfection.
Matt's reaction to it is priceless.
    The lyrics describe the feeling
we get after a relationship ends.
Here is my interpretation . .
Do you know what I think?
    That I shouldn’t be thinking
That if I think, I’m an animal
and if I think about you, you’re a soul
    But maybe it’s this storm
    that brings me to you
    And I know I shouldn’t be found
    without an umbrella,
    even though I understand that
as far as I run away
I always come back to you
    Who makes noise, here
and I don’t know if it’s good for me
    if your noise suits me
    But please make noise, yes
    Because I can’t stand
    this unnatural silence
    between you and me
And I go walking without talking
    with nowhere to go
    I’m wearing down my shoes
    and perhaps my shoes
    know well where to go
Because I always end up in the same places
The same places that I should have avoided
And I try to pretend that I don't remember
And I try to pretend that I forgot
    But I understand that
as far as I run away
I always come back to you
    Who makes noise, here
and I don’t know if it’s good for me
    if your noise suits me
    But you make noise, yes
    and I can’t stand
    this unnatural silence
    between you and me
    But you make noise, yes
    and I can’t stand
    this unnatural silence
And now I don’t want to
    do without it anymore ..
    that beautiful noise you make

From my 7 big San Remo favorites, he was the one I was the most enthusiastic for. It hit me from the first note, I had the same reaction as you.
The little bonus is that it reminds me a bit of Radiohead in the aesthetic, hence this retro feeling you had about it.
With the right staging (the guy can sing so I am not worried about vocals), Italy will once again shine.

Rumore in italian means "noise"... it's a love song. You should definitely read a translation it's really poetic and intense. In short this song talks about the silence a person leaves when he/she exits from someone's life, it's a metaphor. The refrain goes something like "you make noise yeah and i don't know if it does good to me, if your noise is good for me but you make noise yeah and i can't stand this unnatural silence between me and you". P.S. rumors say Diodato wrote this song for his ex girlfriend Levante, who was also a contestant in this Sanremo edition ☺

italy is one of first to release their song so other songs take us by surprise if this was one of the last to release you can be sure it would blow others out the water. the main thing is nearly all viewers watch it on the night of the grand final and this song will lose none of its impact. people said soldi was boring and dull but at the last minute it crept up and almost won. that was a modern masterpiece. if they get the staging right, please italy get it right, THIS has all the ingredients to smash it. this is not eurovision by numbers like SO many other songs this is amazing! i'm already backing italy win!

    LYRICS:
    Sai che cosa penso?
    Che non dovrei pensare
che se poi penso sono un animale
e se ti penso tu sei un’anima
    Ma forse è questo temporale
    che mi porta da te
e lo so, non dovrei farmi trovare
    senza un ombrello, anche se
    Ho capito che
    per quanto io fugga
    torno sempre a te
    Che fai rumore qui
e non lo so se mi fa bene
se il tuo rumore mi conviene
    Ma fai rumore, sì
    che non lo posso sopportare
questo silenzio innaturale tra me e te
E me ne vado in giro senza parlare
senza un posto a cui arrivare
    consumo le mie scarpe
    e forse le mie scarpe
    sanno bene dove andare
Che mi ritrovo negli stessi posti
proprio quei posti che dovevo evitare
e faccio finta di non ricordare
    e faccio finta di dimenticare
    Ma capisco che
    per quanto io fugga
    torno sempre a te
    Che fai rumore qui
e non lo so se mi fa bene
se il tuo rumore mi conviene
    Ma fai rumore, sì
    che non lo posso sopportare
questo silenzio innaturale tra me e te
    Ma fai rumore, sì
    che non lo posso sopportare
    questo silenzio innaturale
E non ne voglio fare a meno oramai
di quel bellissimo rumore che fai

The song is very well constructed, at the beginning there is an inner fight ( rumore ) because the author refuses to accept the abscence of the other , but at the end as he accepts this absence , this fight becomes a delicious memory.
There is a beautiful film ( but very hard to view ) that explains this human phenomenon. " Jacob’s Ladder" During the film the main actor fights his demons, but when he accepts the reality at the end of the film, these demons turn into angels.
The song is psychologically perfect. Everything is perfect, there are only those who do not understand the human soul who criticize. There are no fireworks, it’s true, it’s a walk, it’s also true, it’s not made to put you in the spotlight, it’s made to tell an event in a perfect way and universal. The lyrics are beautiful too

we watched all of the nights of San Remo 2020, but we fell a sleep all the time before those ended, the tele-show for foreigners was too long, but maybe not at all for Italians. Italian pre-selection was probably the best this year, from what we have seen before, they are so true, emotional and self-expressing in their singings, that this was so impressive, we hope as well, that they will do very well this year again at Eurovision, although Italy has not won Eurovision for 30 years, they would deserve it finally, although it might be too early to be so optimistic.

I immediately loved the voice and the emotion that explodes in your heart listening to this song, but I understand that it can be misunderstood and judged slow and sad. But we Italians are so inexplicably romantic. Last year's song ("Soldi") represented that part of Italy that was younger, more modern, mutliethnic, although it too had a very deep text. If I had decided I would probably have sent another song to Eurovision. Diodato's song is sweet, sentimental, but also strong and overwhelming. It's okay to represent our Italy. However I would have given Paolo Jannacci a chance with his Sanremo song "I want to talk to you now" which deals with the theme of fatherhood, love for children, in this case love for the daughter. The bond between father and daughter is one of the most tender and strong things that exists. And even this song would have represented our country very well, traditional and sweet, strong, but sensitive.
If you feel like it, I invite you to listen to it (perhaps by reading the text first). Thank you :)

    lyricstranslate.com/it/voglio-parlarti-adesso-i-want-talk-you-now.html
Grazie :)
