If you have the dps, this fight is far and away easier with 2 tanks. Generally, you have a warrior (or marauder) in strength accessories with defiance off just dpsing the boss. You treat it as a solo tank fight, with the main tank still picking up all of the dreads. The OT handles homing missiles, all of the non-tank-side landmines, and brainjacks. In our case we also send him over to trigger the defensive reaction tower in between allagan fields in the final phase. This has a few advantages. A warrior OT doing landmines and homing missile is far more beefy and less likely to die to a homing missile + defensive reaction (the way the timing works out, this happens pretty much every time in the first 2 phases) or to triggering two landmines in rapid succession. The other, massive benefit is that tanks can't be targetted by allagan field, meaning that your group will never be at the mercy of RNGesus with allagan fields hitting your landmine / homing missile sponge. Literally the only downside to this strategy is that your dps need to work harder, but that becomes easier and easier as you get more gear, to the point where you can still skip the 5th tower with 4 good dps + OT.
Woudnt WAR MT in Defiance and PLD OT in STR gear make more sence here? I've heard that this is the optimal 2 tank set up in terms of overall DPS. Due to the War being able to put up higher DPS while in Tank stance. I've seen alot of Japanese videos using this strategy. One video stood out with an OT PLD putting up 320 DPS in STR set.
It's similar enough to not really matter. Whoever has better str accessories is probably fine to OT, but a warrior OT can maintain 100% uptime on both debuffs, which is something you can't always get away with while main tanking since your DPS are going all out and you need to stay ahead in threat. When a warrior MT can only keep up one debuff (most of the time), storm's path usually makes more sense than storm's eye (depending on situation, preference, other factors, etc.) so either the increased damage from both tanks from more eye uptime or the increased utility of increased path uptime makes up for any dps differences a paladin might manage. As I said though, It's similar enough to not really matter. Whatever works for your group works for your group. The main point is that it's a much easier fight with 2 tanks.
The following distribution also works for Set 7 and is a little bit safer than the one mentioned in the video: Set 7: West, Dread, Mines - 2 into Mines, 1 into West That way, the West Tower will already on its own detonate during an Allagan Field break and can be disregarded. Deal with the Landmines and if the DPS is high enough you wont even get the Dreadnought or wont have to bother with him.
not sure if it was brought up or not, but seems to be transitioning to phase 3 at 45%, not 35% and it's not from us hitting 7 minutes either as we're at 6:20. (just in case someone brings up the 7 min transition)
I just finished a group who beat this. Every one of us was new to the fight and I don’t think anyone watched a guide. Took two hours but we finally did it. I’m watching this guide post-kill to see how we were supposed to beat it.
Nope, we only did it this way because we opted to do it with 1 tank and since Mizz is a shitlord and doesn't have a dps class levelled, she tanked while Hugh Jass (our pally) went DRG.
animusdx LOL, while all of that is true..... Warriors in Defiance will do more damage than Paladins in Sword Oath. Since you're pushing dps on all fronts, having a warrior does help but is not entirely necessary.
MTQcapture Did you mean to say "Shield Oath" ? A War in Defiance surely cant out DPS a PLD in Sword oath with STR accessories on. PLD Sword Oath: 429 avg. Potency WAR Defiance: 356 avg. Potency forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/175561-WAR-MT-PLD-OT-vs.-PLD-MT-WAR-OT-in-terms-of-DPS?p=2219758&viewfull=1#post2219758
FlyLifeFilms Both my PLD and WAR use the same gear; I have Unweathered Gerolt weapons, Noct Gear on the Left Side, and i90 DPS Accessories. My WAR Parses 270 DPS on dummies w/o Defiance and my PLD Parses 260 in Sword Oath. If I Melded or got Gloam accessories, of course it would be higher, but as a baseline to determine the dps strength of each job, they're more or less normal with WAR pulling slightly ahead. The main benefit to having WAR + PLD is that the WAR Storm's Eye combo directly benefits DPS damage from PLD due to lowering the mob's slashing resistance by 10%, so both jobs work off each other. Looking at "average potency" isn't an accurate way of judging real-time raiding conditions, especially with having to dodge mechanics, pick up adds, etc. Very few (if any) jobs are Spank and Tank.
so i was wodering if you noticed that sometimes the balistic missle after the dred/mines turrent (last set of dubble turrents jusst before transition to tripple turrents) does not happen what makes the reminder of the fight SO much easier do you happen to know why you do or do not get the balistic missile after the dred/mine turrent. once again a great guid keep up the good work and gl in t9
Would love to see more Solo Tank POV's from your Raid team MissTeq. The guide is nice to have but would love to see how you prioritise your cooldowns as well as tower timing as a tank. Specifically Set 6 and Set 7. Also i noticed many other groups occasionnally skip Set 5 if DPS is high. Would this mess up the timing at all? Or does if mean when we hit Alagan Field (45%) that regardless of timing Set 6 towers start up?
Phase 3 is literal hell. Been trying to kill this thing for a month now and there's just no way we can pass the 3rd phase. The allagan field always takes dmg from the tower AOE. Bad timing etc.
With a full party at 60, undersized of course, is it easier to push the boss so much, that some phases or mechanics can be ignored or skipped? Is the fight so ridiculously easy at 60, or still somewhat irritating?
gbzmr i've noticed that Mr. Happy is great with finding info on unreleased content, but his guides are shakey at best, he can give you a rough estimation of how the fights work but tends to be wrong a lot
I remember catching the kill on stream, that shit was awesome! I couldn't believe how long you guys stuck with it.
That feel when you realize its just a reskinned treant.
...I wanted to believe that Squeenix had put effort in to their model.
You just fucked my shit up so hard....
Good job se...

FlyLifeFilms 320? What the hell? These japanese guys aren't called Pros's for nothing.
i got a awesome group and did this first try, can't believe it
you know what, i'm gonna go play some fates instead
Great guide Mizz! It's obvious from the Dreadnuaght renditions you have a future career in art.

Finally!!!! Ty! We just started turn 8 last night.

Beat turn 8 a while ago. Just came to hear her voice XD *shakes head creepily*
Why can't I find a guide for how to navigate the maze anywhere on the net?
This is an amazing guide! Thank you for sharing!
No bad puns eh? What about the one at 3:20?
Another great guide! ^^
Can't wait for more :D
No puns xD They are the best!! Thank you for this guide

Is there any advantage in having a war as mt? I'm asking because we're deciding if do it with a war or a pld
Nope, we only did it this way because we opted to do it with 1 tank and since Mizz is a shitlord and doesn't have a dps class levelled, she tanked while Hugh Jass (our pally) went DRG.

The CC for this is actually pretty hilarious... the avatar is a stationary box xD

She's on Behemoth.
Amazing guides! +_+ really thank you ;DS just a question.. what program do you use to edit thoses videos? and the audio recorder? please

why would they lock such a central story behind savage content >.>' I only recently found out about the coils AFTER heavensward :T

Need a guide for the maze.
while I'm thankful you posted this, I got 1/2 way thru the vid and said eff it, no way this is possible with a PUG...

SO MUCH DEATH! at 7:12
I just wanna solo this is in peace...
This shit is so hard synced, tried with two diff groups over a few hours and couldn't beat it yet lol
Ah....this is such a nice guide.
I stopped listening to Mr.Happy. His voice annoys the shit out me. Thank you MTQ
agreed. plus he doesnt sound like he knows what hes doing
And he breathes WAY too loud from his nose. His guides always confused me more then helped me. Then I found MTQ's guides and it was
gbzmr i've noticed that Mr. Happy is great with finding info on unreleased content, but his guides are shakey at best, he can give you a rough estimation of how the fights work but tends to be wrong a lot
Both Happy and Mizzteq are awesome. I prefer mizzteq but happy is great too, both have been very helpful.
You people care too much about voices. People can't help that aspect. It's how they use their voice that matters.
Hugh Jass, love it.
she says 35 percent at phase 2 and phase 3. ....
You should have said, "but this isn't a bald kid with arrow tattoos"
That voice I'm in love. .....
:3
