Beats the gt in every way possible, plus more quality. 5k is more than worth it. The ss is a better performer in every way. You can state your opinion and thats fine, but facts are facts. No hate here, but facts are facrs man. We all like what we like, and quite frankly, i like faster, and more reliable cars. Especially when they handle better too.
The mustang is running E85 and isn't walking that camaro. And the camaro driver is adequate at best. We need to find some stock vs stock vids instead of stock vs modded. Or have the Camaro running E85 then let's see what happens.

Hey, the 5.0s gain maybe 10-15whp from E85. It's not a big gain like a turbo car. He has a catback and a tune. Yes, the drag pack is lighter. I think the point of the video is to show how many mods it takes to beat a stock SS. We all know what the outcome would be if the Mustang was showroom stock.

There are dozens of Supercharger and Turbo kits available. 750whp with a 3.4l whipple kit and headers is eaaily attainable. The Camaro SS responds very well to boltons. Cam Headers. CAI etc..

Like for instance your camaro is a little on the heavy side this why it seems slowish compared to other v8 cars . Both cars are great platforms . Mustangs seem to always have the weight advantage
Nice runs. Camaro driver was definitely working the stick but it goes to show what a tuned A6 can do. Considering both cars stock from the factory , Camaro making 455 HP & TQ where the Mustang makes 435 HP & 400 TQ. Power wise the mustang is making more HP mods included ,Camaro should be lighter in weight. Roughly 140-150 lbs not a big difference but enough to keep the Camaro close. If both cars were stock no mods I believe the Camaro would walk the Mustang. Just my 2 cents. :-)
Actually with my mods @ 402rwhp we were making similar power. My advantage came with my car with drag pack weighed in at 3600lbs, and his weighed 3640lbs. Both cars were scale weighed.
For once I like them both. Personally I still like the styling of the SS but it's all good. Good runs.

When real racers drive these cars, the results are very different. The Camaro wins every time. There are many videos on TH-cam, look them up. Stock for stock, the 2016 Camaro SS wins against the latest Ford Mustang GTs every time.

Making mustang owners feel all warm and fuzzy in side. No way does even a 2017 mustang gt compete with the 2017 Camaro SS. The Gt 350 stands an chance. Ford Knows this and want's to up grade the 2018 mustang gt because of this with more horsepower and torque.. I own a 2017 Camaro SS, Raced ford mustangs 2012 to 2017. A few hundred of them all resulted losing to my chevy. Except for one It was a procharged 2015 5.0 coyote. He didn't win either neck and neck. Ford needs to step up it's game. The Camaro SS is borderline gt350 material. The Zl1 will walk away from a gt350. And let's not forget the fireball SS Camaro. Honestly, the Camaro driver did just fine. 2015+ automatic GT's with Lunds FF tune trap 116-118ish. Stock SS's trap ~115-116. The Camaro driver is doing about as good as a MotorTrend or Car and Driver tester. Any room for improvement is very marginal and not worth mentioning unless we're speaking about professional drivers.

1ss and npp exhaust doesn't give any extra hp to the camaro. That was basically a stock camaro vs a modded mustang gt. It would have been a better run for the camaro if it was modded like the mustang. Stock for stock the chevy is faster than the ford.

Camaro has 55 more torque, 20 more HP, and is 100 pounds lighter. all for $5,000 more than a Mustang. I'd say with even the minimal amount of mods, the Mustang held its own. Both cars are great.
And if we really want to split hairs, Chevy had 18 MONTHS to benchmark the Mustang. I'm not surprised its faster and lighter in stock form... Let Ford have 18 months to benchmark the next Camaro and I would guarantee the tables would be turned.

I agree 100%. I looked at both 2016 Mustang GT premium and 2016 2SS and the 2SS as priced at dealers around here was $7000 more than the GT premium with the same options. $7000 is a VMP TVS setup and 800whp easily on E-85.
Charlie Bteam the biggest difference maker is the automatic transmission vs the manual in the camaro. not all those mods.
They've been developing the Alpha platform much earlier than that. It was inevitable that the Camaro was going to be faster in this generation long before the 2015 mustang came out.

Mustang GT is the cheapest, slowest out of the major 3 muscle cars but easy and cheap to mod faster. That's all this vid shows.
The Coyote doesn't take much to make piles of HP. A supercharger and some tuning, stock exhaust, it will roll past 200 mph.

The 2SS is a slower accelerating vehicle than the 1SS, those extra addons (leather seats, more speakers, etc) add a little more weight.
The 1SS is about 4-5k more expensive than a base GT. I don't think a 400 dollar tune is much of an objection.
2SS just adds weight to slow it down. smh. The mustang is also much cheaper and a better platform to build off of (forged block, responds to boost very well). The Camaro performs better out of the factory.
Mustang isn't that much cheaper with all those mods on it that make it just about even with a stock Camaro, and I hope you saying the Mustang is a better platform to build off of was a joke. The Camaro is lighter and has a VASTLY better chassis. That is automatically the better platform to build off of and come on. Engine wise, come on. Already 1000 HP kits for it. Will easily do a lot more than that.
I agree the SS's chassis is superior, but with regards to acceleration the Mustang will be faster for cheaper. That's just a fact.
The SS is a more balanced car, it does very well at the track. But unless you actually go and race your car around a track (not a drag strip, a track) its pointless. No point in paying for something you're not going to use. Honestly for 99% of the drivers out there who will only really drag race in some fashion, choose the car that you think looks the best.

Dwreck Baker With the mods, our cars mafe similar power, and my car was 40lbs lighter than the Camaro... truck scale certified. Catback and drag pack knocked weight off. My car only weighed 3715lbs off dealer lot. 3600lbs with catback(removes oem resonator) and drag pack

now imagine the camaro with the same mods 🤔 clearly the camaro would walk the Mustang, specially automatic but props to the driver, the 5.0 isn't a bad car but I driven both cars, but honestly the camaro wins in every category, basic 5.0 doesn't even give you a touch screen or a bad ass module, the driving modes or ss designed inside and outside of the car, and that's a basic camaro I ordered mine and even my 5.0 friend said it looked bad ass better then his car and all it had was custom gray rims, ppl quad exhaust black bow ties and a sunroof which you can't have in a Mustang, and the car was still coming out to less then 40k that's it, I'm just saying the camaro has been better from factory, and for those who say the gt350 is better, the camaro ss still beats the gt350, now the 17 zl1 will walk the gt350 any day and I bet it will come out cheaper than the gt350, Ford dealership are adding 17k for no reason, just because it's rare, I don't see chevy dealerships doing that on corvettes z06 it's rare they do that to the zl1 but yet again, the camaro is still coming on top, the Hennessy camaro is already raping the hellcat lol while I see Camaros' passing cars I see mustangs running over people and hitting shit lol

Yea but the basic 5.0 also costs 4-5k less. A Mustang GT premium costs about the same as the base SS and gets you everything the base SS has plus a lot more. Nav, leather seats, dual zone air conditioning, more speakers, etc.

Because that's not an actual limited production vehicle. The Z06 was limited to the number of preliminary orders (plus some for dealers) so everybody that wants one, and can afford one, can have one. There were only 100 GT350's made in 2015 and only 37 GT350R's. So you had gobs of people who wanted one, but only a few cars actually out there for them to purchase. It's simple supply and demand. When you buy one, you're not just buying the vehicle, you're buying exclusivity because so few people will have one. If Ford limited the production to the orders made you'd see the GT350 going for around sticker price just like the Z06.
I also don't understand the complaints about the GT350 pricing, barely over a year ago Chevy fans were bragging about how amazing the Z28 was for its 75k price tag. The GT350 is superior, and cheaper even with dealer markup, and comes with speakers and an A/C which, unless you clicked an option box and paid more, your Z28 didn't come with. Surely expectations don't change that fast.
The ZL1 will certainly be a performer. I still think it will be more expensive than the GT350 even with most of the dealer mark ups, but it won't be by much. It'll be a better buy over the GT350 absolutely - unless you can get a GT350 for sticker but good luck with that. Maybe 2016 they'll make more, I haven't looked into those numbers yet. I do think the ZL1 looks a bit too radical for me but I wasn't impressed with the new Mustangs until I saw them in person so I can't really say how I'll feel about the ZL1.
Personally, though, the high end Camaros have always been pointless to me. If I'm spending mid 60's for a Camaro I'll just buy a well optioned out C7 Vet and slap a supercharger on it. The same would go for high end Mustangs to a similar degree, but at least there's no other options within Ford. Chevy almost cannibalizes itself with its halo Camaro model and the Corvette.
Also consider the new Camaro SS has more power stock for stock so this video really shows how well the 5.0 reacts to simple bolt on mods.

Whoaaaaa I liked you comment until I read the SS Bears the GT350- Not a chance. Not happening. If you ran them hard on a track all day the Mustang is faster, would keep it cool better (doesn't heat soak like the new LT eventually does), and the "R" model is even lighter in its feet. The SS is an awesome car but people forget Ford offers more versions of the Mustang for the masses. The GT 5.0 is a soft car that gets you into the V8. If you want a stiffer car like the SS is, you opt for the GT350. If you want a Vette killer, you buy a GT500 (it still remains to be seen if the rumored numbers will be real on the GT500). Haters need not apply as all of these cars are awesome!

A 2015 GT with a Lund FlexFuel traps 116-118. A stock 16+ M6 SS traps 113-115. I'd say he did about as well as any non-professional driver would do to keep it as close as he did.
Also the previous generation SS's were slower than the GT's were stock. So its not "especially a 2016", its "only because it was a 2016". Previous generation SS's were just too heavy to compete with the GT's in a straight line stock vs stock.
Those Lund E85 tunes make a big difference on the S550's.

I agree. Honestly the catback itself didn't do anything. The only modification this mustang has that has and effect on acceleration is its Lund FlexFuel tune. Considering that the Camaro SS is already several grand more than the GT, I don't think we need to complain about a ~400 dollar tune as if it actually makes this race "unfair". It's not like the Mustang has twin turbos on a built motor pushing 20+psi. It's a frigging tune...

can someone PLEASE make a video with both cars the same. no special packages, both cars automatic and completely from the dealer stock, stock tires, stock exhaust, everything absolutely everything factory. Even comparing two manual cars isn't really accurate because so much is dependent on driver.

+brianallen0826 a stock vs stock would be boring and the Camaro would win everytime. It takes a good tune for a 5.0 to make up the ground from stock. GM has the upper hand right now in the pony wars. As far as manual vs auto.. this is the first 6gen SS I have run across in my area so far. I am sure I will find an auto SS to run sometime too, but more mods are going on my car.. so a stock SS wont be much of a run after that.

You know...I hear a lot of shit talk from Camaro fan boys for months now about how much faster the new 6th Gen is than the Mustang....Yet out of about the 10 videos I've seen when these two cars match up, the mustang has beaten, or at least run even with the SS 70-80% of the time?
I had a 2017 mustang gt Auto and NEVER lost to a Camaro or Challenger! Now I own 2021 mustang gt 10r80 and beat them down!

thats actually untrue. the SS will only gain 10hp at the most on a 93octane tune. And full exhaust doesnt gain much at all either considering the LT1 already has shorty headers from the factory
Love mustangs but Im truly sorry to inform the people in this world factory to factory the gt can not hang......... the mustang will always sound better. I'll admit the stock SS really put up a fight stock I'm impressed.

Apologies after I posted I read it you should do throttle body 92 mm also the intake to go with it and the pedal commander for response and the added 22 hp plus the 28 rwhp from the throttle body and the 55 hp you gain from the mid range. Just an idea.
Kalin Mabe I dont have the car anymore, but I did end up doing other boltons, like the gt350 intake manifold, pmas cai, 5c converter, long tubes and driveshaft. Ran 11.27 with that setup. The 11.27 video is on my channel

To me comparing cars with bolt-ons and/or tunes is totally useless. Same with transmission type. Why not compare stock with both being shifter or automatic?
Camaro kept up even with all the work done to the Stang. It'd be so far apart if the Camaro was built and the Mustang was stock.
Mustang has much more mods and the camaro is a manual.
It was being pulled in every gear, shifting or not. It's not about brands, it's about science.

I'm actually confused a little on this one. I've seen many of these camaros put down 410-420 to the wheels in stock form yet it was steadily getting pulled all those runs but the last ones by a 402rwhp mustang? great runs nonetheless. that mustang had to put in work to beat that camaro is stock form. love those camaros. mustangs run quite well also.

Even a stock 2003 Mach 1 with a N/A 4.6 DOHC is a close race for a 5th gen Camaro SS, believe it or not. Car and Driver ran the Camaro to a 13.1, MM&FF ran the Mach 1 at 13.1.

We all know that. my car has the mods it has.. and I met up with the Camaro owner and we ran. nothing more to it. I didnt plan my mods around this race. and No.. the springs have zero bearing on this race. The drag radials didnt give me an advantage because I dont spin from a 50roll. The front skinnies? sure.. a little weight savings. Not huge, but some. The advantage I gained over the Camaro in these races is the tune with E85... thats it.. the catback does nothing but make the car sound better.

Camaro is mine, if you look in the videos not only had we approached roughly our cutoff speeds but there were cars I was approaching in my lane. Could I have gone further without letting off? Probably, but I try to be safe as possible during a dangerous act.
