Thank you very much, dear Christian, for featuring my track on you channel! What an honour! Your "modular monday" was the spark for me to go into the world of modular. Keep going with your inspiring channel. And: The "Winterpiano" rocks! So deep and emotional. My go-to piano for my scores, beside the great Spitfire Simcock-Felt-Piano.
Wow great track! Thats one of best acoustic piano/modular tracks that I've heard. There is space between these two entities but they still harmonise/co-exist together. Great work. I would love to know the details of the production used on this. Thanks.
@@DavidJohnAshman Thank you very much for your kind words, David. I will try to write something to the process (in this long comment :-) :Unfortunately, thats the fate of working with a modular, all is already unpatched and new tracks are made with the rig :-) But I try to remember, what I’ve done. It was a onetake-Jam. From the DAW, synced via Intellijels uMIDI, comes the gorgeous Winterpiano effected with a Lexicon 224XL-Reverb and a looped flageolet-Stringtone I recorded a long time ago. The Pianosequence was looped in Logic and I switched two times the Loop on and off. The DAW controlled the Run-Input of Pamelas New Workout, which is the Heart of Tempo and Gate in my Modular. So the Pianosequence and the Modular was in Sync. The Sequence in the Modular came from the Metropolis-Sequencer and was multipled to the STO with the Triangel-Waveshape-out to the clocked Echophon which went in the IN of the Erbeverb (with a big size, the CV Out was connected with the Decay-Control, to give the big Reverb a kind of Structure, a kind of Ducking-Effect). This is the Sound in the Beginning. And it was multipled to the 2HP Pluck, which went to the Erica VCF1. This was cool, because it made the PLUCK to a fat, round Plucky sound. And created a interesting and good Variation of the PLUCK-Sound, as you know it. This went to a clockable SD Delay in a Disting. This is the the second Sequenced which comes later, doubling the first one. I controlled live mostly the Shape-Level of the STO and the Echophon-Feedback and the Erbeverb-Decay, Depth, Tilt-level. And was sometimes surprised when it all suddenly increased and flowed over :-) The DFAM went into CLOUDS. And I controlled the Blendlevel live. This is the Moment, when it seems the DFAM melts in a kind of atmospheric sound. DFAM into Clouds is very cool. But you have to discover the Sweetspot. I tried to find a setting, where it creates some kind of overtones to the DFAM and goes into some paddy tones. This was the Inspiration to that: th-cam.com/video/k9kzsqi8Mkg/w-d-xo.html Making Drones with the DFAM, morphing between a beat and a Pad, this was a new and cool experience for me.
@ 6:05 I now have the theme music from Joe 90 in my head... wait a minute...wasn't that a modular synth at the start too? 😂 For those of you who have no clue what I'm rambling on about th-cam.com/video/HbkSZ8aP2sw/w-d-xo.html
Awesome MM. And Loved your track Jensen! Being a tape fanatic, I'm stoked to see someone finally building a modern delay. $$$ but, having shopped Rolands lately, not outlandish IMHO. Now for that lightweight EMT 140?
Clearly the best tape delay is still a Revox B77 (well, multiple) and if you have somebody build you a custom remote you can have cv control of the capstan.
Modular Mondays makes me what to buy stuff I can’t afford 🤣 I don’t need an Octatrack, but I want one! Jens Jam was really something! Reminded me of Air’s ‘Alone in Kyoto’ in the best way.
I have a question: How quick are these larger modular setups to operate? I mean, if you're improvising, and somebody randomly comes up with the idea to switch keys or time signature, how much time would you need to adjust?
AynenMakino that depends on the sequencing element of what you’re using, computers via midi to cv converters very simple, electron more complex, polyend seq would be eye rolling complex and metropolis I’d say “fuck that”.
That's an insane tape echo machine! Is there a vst of that with the same properties? Course not, what was I thinking. Great stuff Christian. Tech porn - xxx stuff! I'd love that tape echo for my dubs and dubplates.

Its a lovely track! Thanks for letting us have a glimpse!
@@TheCrowHillCo Thank you! Maybe we see us next year on the Soundtrack Cologne? It's in April 22-26th. All the best!

Looking forward to visiting signal sound
This is why I love Reason. Been doing this stuff for years
Modular monday on a friday, I'm def not complaining!
Blimey! That IS the best tape unit ever - serious looking piece of kit
I did some recordings w the Space Echo in college, always loved the sound. This thing takes it to the next level w CV! Incredible!
I managed to find a Moogerfooger MIDI Murf this week and I feel really lucky. Fantastic unit, a shame they got discontinued!
Walking into that shop must have been like walking through the pearly gates into heaven!

Signal Sounds is amazing! Their super quick worldwide shipping is quite something.
Man that delay sounds 👌 i wonder how it would sound through my guitar
The Echo Fix is sweet! It isn't inexpensive but not at all unreasonable.

I was really, really surprised by the price of that echo. Prettymuch the same as vintage Rolands - was expecting much worse!
I'm really curious on how you're going to use the ES9, will it be a replacement for the Befaco Hexmix?

check out valhalla delay, the tape mode has a similar sound
It's so incredible how much frankensynth had grown 😍 thank you for always sharing

I see the Moog GM :)
Damn how TF did you guys get live footage of my wet dreams
I'm so happy that TH-cam has subtitles :D I can't understand a word :)
Denis Elias did you know Siri has problems with the Scottish accent too?
@@TheCrowHillCo she's not keen on Yorkshire either, or Cockney or Geordie. My family need not buy...lol.
@@TheCrowHillCo That's a minor understatement :)
God is miss glasgow
GLASGOW yeh
My home town
Anyone wanna buy my tape delay?
Aneek Thapar for how much ?
Nice interview with Alex... Great patch run down from Sandy... Need more from The Shed though Christian. Just sayin' :-D
Oops... I should have said "please." Sorry.
Almost missed this. Bloody "algorithm"!
BUT! Does those 5,000 dollar MoogerFoogers get sold? If so just another proof of human kind being complete idiots : )
