All they had to do was make bus only lanes. The only way mass transit will have an impact on reducing traffic is if people use it. They are not getting people out of their cars. This rail still relies on the bus. Waste of money and resources.

Cutting the A short at Pearlridge is idiotic. Saying riders from Waipahu and Pearl City can take the rail to the stadium and switch to the A there, that makes your commute worse, not better, than just a single seat ride on the A from Waipahu or PC all the way into town.

That's a fair point. If there is demand for local bus along Kam Hwy in Waipahu, then they should continue to run a bus there.

@@NathanAverett The A is an skip stop express bus. Not a local route. The local routes remain. The A also only ran every 30 minutes making it mostly useless. An A that is express from center city to the rail, which is an express that does not get stuck in traffic, is a huge improvement, if it is frequent.

I agree. It's a problem . The bus going to the rail transit to drop off passengers is a waste of time and tax money. Not to mention those that take the express bus to work meaning straight to work. You have to remember this island is small and it will only get worst and worst if Thebus company divert route the rail transit causing more delays.
The Freeway, Zipperlane that's where the Thebus belongs early in the morning and riders going home after 3pm.

What happens if the rail breaks down and there's a long line of people trying to get to work? What's the back up plan for this thing?

So you still have to wait 45 minutes for a transfer bus. Waste of time and money.

The video doesn't say the wait times, but it does say that new routes are being created to help people get to and from each station, with express buses timed with the rail to and from the stadium and various points in town (Chinatown, downtown, Ala Moana, UH-M). It also says it will cut current bus riders' commutes from Kapolei to town by more than half.

Rail not going to benefit the waianae coast, the westside people . Westside County people only get the 40, County express and 93. The bus fare is to expensive, the monthly bus pass is to expensive, $3.00 and $80.00 monthly bus pass not worth it. You only get 30 to 31 days in a month. The mayor blangardi only going jack up the prices, mayor blangardi really screwed up the disability bus pass you could get from your doctor's, now you got to take your letter of intent, to show the bus company. Sounds like mayor blangardi and the bus company like be nose in your personal business. The old way was better. He broke a system that never needed fixing. Hope the next mayor better, hope mayor blangardi doesn't get re-elected. He didn't do anything, he made things worse.

The rail does not serve the people who really need it. More of the bus routes from town to stadium need to be be extended. If the rail ended up in Ala Moana it would have been better since that is a hub. It does not serve Waianae, Central Oahu, North Shore or the East side well. If they have commuter busses within the communities nearest the rail it can help those people. If you don't live near the rail or near a bus stop, it is not practical. I only runs till 7 p.m. I understand that they based that on the fact that the bus ridership declines after that. But have you asked why? It is because if you work nights it is fine you can get to and from your job in time. If you work days, it only works if you are not coming from Waianae and have to be at work by 6 a.m. and have to take 3 busses to get there. If you work 12 hours or evenings you may have a ride going to town, but how do you get home when the rail stops and the scheduled busses start spreading out the time. People who get off work at 11:30 or midnight on an evening shift have no bus going to Waianae or the North Shore from town as all the busses last times are arranged so they can get back to the barn by the witching hour. Money would have been better spent to expand the bus system to serve the rural communities better with commuter busses. It would have been faster to implement. As it is the express busses start too late for people living 26 miles outside of town who have to be at work by 6 a.m., not leave home by then. People who start at 9 or 10 a.m on a 10 or 12 hour shift have long commute time as there a fewer busses available when they get off work and they would have to do that every day. I still remember the days when busses only came once an hour and if they were full, they passed you up and you had to wait another hour for the next one. You also had to stand all the way. That has improved. Busses now come about every 20-30 minutes, but if you are going East West it is fine but if you have to get off in the middle and go North, you have to wait another 20 minutes for the bus going North South. A 15 minute car ride from Central Oahu to Waipahu takes more like an hour and the bus stops are not always close to your destination. The nearest bus stop from my house is still almost half a mile uphill.
