      Jamie´s design , art and animation is SICK, he looks so SICK. but he needs an upgrade gameplay wise. I would love to see jamie in a tournament some day

    Appreciate the full sets! Jamie's my main and it's fun seeing how everyone plays him a bit differently. I like being defensive and prioritizing drinks, while my local buddy just says "fuck it we palm" at the word GO! XD

    Level 2 has a use when your 4 drinks and halfway through your burnout meter. Itll give you drive gauge again in a snap.

      As far as looking great, the animation in SF6 is incredible. And as far as conveying the characters current state, it’s good like 95% of the time.

    I love Jamie as a character he's my main but god does half of his matchups feel unwinnable. It's crazy how bad they made him. Drink vs oki situations, tiny normals that have zero reach compared to the rest of the roster, locking all his good moves behind drinking etc this is the example of a character that sounds cool on paper but awful when actually executed

    As for Jamie, I think he should just have 3 drinks instead of 4 with the 3rd drink giving him the power of the current 3rd and 4th drink combined. This effectively means the power of his drinks would go up exponentially (and not incrementally as it is atm).
    This is fairer bcos it takes 2 drinks for Jamie to be on par with most of his opponents. By that time Jamie had already been below par for half the round and level on par (2 drinks), 2 thirds of the round in till when he may get the 3rd drink. Therefore he should be double on par for the rest of the round when he finally reaches 3 drinks at 2 thirds of the round in as reward for making it that far and being handicapped for so long. I hope that makes sense?

      This makes a lot of sense indeed. It's like its current damage with respect to levels, it sort of assume that he'll be spending equal amount of time below and above lvl2, which is simply not true AND does not take into account the fact that in order to level up, he either needs to give up oki or simply take a risk in neutral. Hence, to make him more fair his levels should be somehow asymetric with respect to level 2, which your suggestion meets quite well.
      Another thing could also be to simply remove his damage nerf below level 2, and keep the buffs at level 3 and 4 as is.

      Or give him his whole toolkit at roundstart and just let drinks for damage buffs, like Manon. Level 1 to 3 is damage buff buff only, and level 4 is the curent level 4. Unlocks drunken Jamie

    I think Jamie SA3 is actually pretty decent. It doesn't do as much damage as any other SA3, but you trade that for a lot of options. You can choose corner carry, DI reset, overhead reset, command grab reset, safe jump setup or end with a drink on top of scary oki that can threaten cmd grab at lvl3.

      Yeah nah lol. Master Rank Jamie here and that SA3 doesn’t save this character. It’s basically extra work with all this flash. This character needs a rework which won’t happen sadly. He will unfortunately remain bottom 3 unless by some miracle in season 2 Capcom gives him a plethora of buffs along with a definitive way to deal with projectile characters

    I recently reached master rank with Jamie, he is incredibly fun to play and he is so far my favorite character in the game, the thing that irritated the most while playing with him is how you have to sacrifice 2-3 knockdowns just to get those drinks in safely. Then you play vs Ken, Cammy, Dee Jay, etc. Who just run you down without a second thought. He doesn't need many buffs, just a little bit will do

    I personally find it more interesting that way. Giving us an accurate Intel of both characters while you are explaining it by playing. Maybe you should do this kind of content once a week as an educational part.

      @@user-jt5bv4ph2tit only restores drive at 4 drinks, and by that point an OD drink wouldn’t really serve much purpose unless it did something else like give you another 5% damage boost every time you used it.

      Unfortunately his matchup spread isn't great. He struggles a lot against fireballs in a game where fireballs are quite strong not even mentioning fireball into drive rush. I do agree though I wish more people would stick with him because he's incredibly fun to play which is why I don't play any other character.

    Jamie's situation is so sad. Capcom really needs to make it easier for Jamie to get drinks, or give him actual upsides for having more drinks. Jamie's swagger step could maybe pass through projectiles after getting 2 or 3 drinks, or he takes less damage the more drinks he has. An easy one is making Jamie be able to cancel into parry when drinking.

      I like the other ideas but I feel like drink parry cancel would make drinking have no risk and it would be a bit too strong. A hit of armor, perhaps?

    you can get decent damage off Jamie’s SA3 and the follow-up, the problem is you have to do it basically immediately and adding any drive rush or too many attacks (like with the 5LP target combo) ruins the scaling
    e.g. The best combo I could find off of a 5MP confirm is: 5MP, 5LK xx SA3

    Jamie sa2 actually does a lot for the character depending on the situation. At round start it instantly gives you a lot of momentum, going from 90% damage to 105% is a huge jump and if you connect you either get a mix up on block or an easy corner carry combo on hit. It completely negates his biggest weakness of having to give up oki to drink, and it makes the opponent panic and make mistakes due to the situation.
    On the flip side, it’s also good towards the end game. If you’re already at 4 drinks this super recovers half your drive gauge, and since it’s also essentially a Vtrigger activation, you can have some really outrageous block strings that never end since he recovers his own gauge.
    Don’t get me wrong it’s still not as good as it could be. The fact that it takes away any drinks you may have had is stupid, and he only goes to 105% damage instead of 110% like traditional 4 drink Jamie, but it is by far his most undervalued tool.

      His SA2 combos also do a lot of damage. And you can use it to make ex bakkai safe and then go into command grab. It's my favorite super. It's also useful to prevent burnout against hard zoners like sim and jp

    I’ve been playing SF6 Jamie since the beta and day 1 release of the game. Master Rank Jamie btw and i dropped this character last week for two big reasons. First reason is i got bored of having to do so many hits and combos while having to drink just to get zoned out or robbed of all the effort and having to reset next round. Second reason is that after playing all the other characters they are much more fun than Jamie because you are actually playing the game not having to worry about a drink gimmick sacrificing pressure. I play most of the cast actually and dropping Jamie was the best decision to spark that fun i had in the beginning getting to experience more fun and better characters

    buffing his lvl 2 would make such a difference. currently it wipes ALL your drinks if you're not already at level 4 when you use it (kinda defeats the purpose) which def needs to change. let him keep 2 drinks at least.
    fix that, fix his divekick hitbox, let drink rekka reset the neutral midscreen instead of ZERO oki at all, and give him the LP LK MP target combo at no drinks and I think he's in a great spot.

      Even With all those changes he would be just a mid tier character lol. If you are good enough with Jamie u can deal with those short comings. The TRUE real problem that makes this character useless and bottom 3 along with Gief is that he has no way to deal with projectiles. He break dance gimmick can be exploited by most proj characters and not to mention the input error when trying to do it. He also doesn’t build meter fast compared to a broken character like JP who builds meter incredibly fast just for zoning.

    I'm curious as to how Jamie would turn out if he functioned like Shun from the VF series.
    Let him keep his drinks between rounds, but have him lose drinks after using certain moves or getting knocked down.

      I don't think he'd be nearly as fun that way. Part of the reason I enjoy playing Jamie is getting the drinks every round - his problem is that getting those drinks sacrifices what other characters get for free

      will probably suck as this game has throw loops and has no air teching like it exists in Alpha 3. Getting Jamie down 3 drinks in matter of seconds must be hell of a bummer

      Yah that's a strat that I don't see as much for whatever reason. Get an easy confirm to lvl 2 and then be busted and try to take the round early. Can maybe get another lvl 2 late in the 3rd round. I like seeing Jamie, Blanka, and Juri get into their lvl 2 makes the game interesting. Guile lvl 2 seems kinda meh unless the person is in burnout or they don't have a fireball because of how ex fireballs negate all the booms.

      @@eliholland1365 The difference between Jamie's level 2 and every other character with a utility super is that it's much more of a gamble. Other characters can use their level 2 without really risking anything. They're still the same character once their level 2 runs out. If Jamie chooses to use level 2 and gets nothing from it then he starts out at zero drinks again. While it does have it's uses I do think Jamie's level 2 risks outweigh the potential reward. That's why you don't see any of the top Jamie players ever use it.

    Bruh, I thought it was my PC This whole time but it looks like it's happening to you too. You start to lose in game audio when you reach the right side corner. Or am I taking crazy pills?

      The audio pans based on character position. You may have an issue with one of your speakers / headphones

    How would you fix Jamie's drink mechanic? Retain half drinks rounded down between rounds?

    It's such a weird decision to lock a character behind 4 levels of instals. Jamie has an awesome fighting style with amazing animations cursed to be half a normal character every start of a round.

    Capcom should have made AKI’s venomous fang (her darting pounce stab) activate from snake step (her really quick slide towards opponents) and not sinister slide (her “hmmm” slow slide). That way the move would be so much more dynamic. The light version of snake step where she feigns it, could activate a bait version of venomous fang which just goes a very short distance (similar to Blanka’s light rainbow ball).
    Medium snake step would activate a venomous fang that goes the same distance as it goes currently when activated from sinister slide. However activating venomous fang from snake step instead of sinister slide would make this a better anti-projectile move as AKI drops to floor and slides forward much more quicker with snake step than sinister slide. So effectively sliding under a fireball real quick and then activating venomous fang to pounce real quick.
    The heavy version of venomous fang activated from snake step would be the same as the medium version as well. However as the heavy version of snake step can slide past the opponent, AKI would be able to have an interesting cross up move if venomous fang is activated right after she slides past an opponent effectively pouncing on the back of the opponent (similar to how Cammy can do OD spinning knuckle and can go past opponents and hit them from the back).
    The OD version of venomous fang from snake step could probably just pounce a bit quicker and possibly be plus on block so that she recovers quick and her opponents can’t attack her right away if they block the attack. This would be great when she’s cornered as sometimes when she uses OD snake step to slide out the corner, the opponent just turns around and attacks her and therefore make it useless. If however she slid out and then activated venomous fang she would do an OD cross up attack which would be plus on block and so disable any chance of the opponent just attacking her when she slides out.
    I think if capcom did this, it would have made her more of a higher tier player as it would make AKI probably one of the most multi-dimensional attacking players with many ways to attack and would offset her weaknesses.

    Jamie whole gimmick is becoming one of the best characters in the game when he's unsober and you need to be unsober if you want to play him.

    I think if he kept his drinks between rounds he’d be better. Because if he can’t drink then he’s not that good, but if he gets some drinks in him, oh boy. Or maybe have him be like Johnny cage in mk 1, where pretty much all his specials can be canceled into a drink.
    There’s nothing, imo, that’s bad about Jamie. He’s got a cool design, cool combos, an overall cool character. But the need for drinks puts him down. I think if they adjusted him to make it easier or safer to get drinks in then he’d be a lot more popular and higher tier.

      He has a lot more problems than just how the drinks work. Even if they changed that and made some carry over rounds, it would just be putting a bandaid. He’d still be low or mid-tier at best, he’s very poorly designed

      ⁠​⁠​⁠@@joepapa1189 I mean there’s a LOT wrong but I’ll try to summarize. All of his supers and a lot of his special moves are very flawed, the only real exception is command grab and palm. That mixed with the drink system makes him really bad.
      Him starting off with less damage and without his full kit, and then leveling up just to still have a lot of problems is bad. Still can’t deal with fireballs well, still has a bad DP, dive kick hurtbox still sucks, his Rekka actually is in some ways worse at Level 4(and wasn’t all that to begin with), still has problems killing with his Level 3, etc. Still has a lot of bad matchups at Level 4… Guile, Chun-Li, Dee Jay, Ken, etc. don’t really care what level he’s at.
      The drinks transferring doesn’t fix him because round 1 you’re still at a disadvantage and will likely lose that round. Your reward? Maybe you reach Level 2 and become mid-tier in the 2nd round. And then even at his peak he still has a lot of flaws and is lacking compared to the top tiers. His drawbacks don’t match his reward, it makes him feel pointless. Him and some other characters honestly need a big rework rather than some bandaid buff, but I doubt it’ll happen

    16:05 I'd say Aki does, lol. Sure, you get more HP and Drive damage, but you have less frame adv after it finishes and leaves you much closer, which kinda limits your oki options as fireball isn't guaranteed anymore. Also, the magnum opus animation is _way_ cooler. lol

    Jamie clearly needs buff, I wonder how big of a difference it'd make if he gets to keep drink level between rounds.

      Too big. Jamie gets entirely new moves with drinks and can drink in neutral.

      @@HellecticMojothats his whole gimmick, of course he gets moves per drink. He would be good and should be allowed to be good by keeping his drinks. Doesn’t make sense to have a character like JP who has pretty much everything you need except a DP with 2x the damage, best zoning in the game, crazy conversions, etc. then there is Jamie… doesn’t do regular damage until 2 drinks

      @@PSNDarkSouL the fact that he unlocks new tools is precisely why he should be resetting after each round unlike Manon. His upgrade system is also operating outside interaction with the enemy unlike Manon or Aki. You are trying to argue that two wrongs make a right as if comparable power to JP is a good thing to aspire to.
      Jamie may need buffs, but drink retention is an absolute bone headed and worst way of addressing it.

      yeah he get some tools, same tools other chars have and DO 10X BETTER, did u ever try jamie dive kick? brother, his hurt box are ridiculous, bakkai almost every time get hit by fireballs even being "immune" , his lvl 3 and 4 are ok and fine, the char its fine but some QoL its needed, he has to work hard than the full actual roster, to get almost nothing or worse versions of tools that every other char has

      Tbh I feel like there might be a slight bit of downplay. And no I'm not saying he's good. But I do feel that his struggle might be a bit overblown. Just a Lil.

      Yeah he most certainly isn't. 90% damage scaling and not having access to multiple target combos and multiple specials which are key to his game plan lol

      @@verbatim7508 Well of course a Jamie can theoretically still win with zero drinks, I've done it myself (1700 MR). It's just incredibly hard because he has almost no tools except for his reversal and no damage
