I learned. Kickboxing. Then Kung Fu or Karate.
I can't box now because it's difficult to deal with the jab.
Now, I know how to chop!
Surely. I can use chops . I don't understand why I was kicked out of Boxing club.
I was giving a kid a chance. I never wanted to demoralise them.
      Did they think I lost?
Damm! Boxing, is a difficult sport.

Oh man how dope is that. One of my major goal is faster handspeed. Grateful for the video!
    Video idea:
Setups for the uppercut. How to land them?
I love the Mike Tyson style on and landing it often in sparring: right body hook, right uppercut.
But I would love to see more ways, which actually work in sparring.
Another way I utilize the uppercut is jab, right uppercut (light), left bodyhook (hard)...great way to make the opponent shell up and land the livershot.

Thanks for your comment. One question, Where would you go if you were to die today? Seek the Lord and saviour Jesus Christ before it's too late. John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Hell is real and Heaven is also real. You don't want to spend an eternity in Hell torment without God. The only way to escape Hell is to follow Jesus Christ our Lord and saviour. Study the KJV Bible to know more and pray and seek until you find Jesus. Don't delay tomorrow might be too late. You are not promised even the next minute. Do it now

Many high-level coaches across various sports emphasize the separation of strength/conditioning training from technique training. This approach is rooted in the belief that combining these two aspects inappropriately can compromise performance and technique. Here are some key points on this topic:
    1. Technique Integrity: Resistance training, when integrated with skill work, can alter movement patterns. Coaches aim to ensure that athletes can perform techniques with proper form and mechanics, especially in sports like boxing where precision is critical. Studies suggest that maintaining proper technique without added resistance leads to better long-term skill retention.
    2. Optimal Performance: When athletes are fatigued or struggling with added resistance, their performance can suffer. Coaches focus on ensuring that athletes are fresh during skill sessions to maximize their learning and execution. This is particularly important in sports where timing and coordination are crucial, as in boxing and martial arts.
    3. Specificity of Training: Separating strength training from technique allows for a more specific focus on each area. Coaches can tailor strength sessions to address specific needs without interfering with the technical aspects that require full concentration and proper execution.
    4. Adaptation Period: Athletes often go through phases of adaptation, where their bodies adjust to new stresses. By keeping strength and technique training separate, coaches allow athletes to adapt to strength gains without compromising their technical skills.
Overall, the consensus among many coaches is to maintain a clear distinction between strength/conditioning and technique training to optimize performance and reduce the risk of injury. For more insights on this topic, consider exploring resources on sports coaching and training methodologies, such as articles from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or specific sports training publications.

One thing that helped me tremendously is always touching your cheek bone (like they are glued to it) with your finger joints (proximal interphangeal joints) with the opposite hand when you throw a punch.
The actual contact with the cheek makes it easier to not forget it and in this way you never drop your guard.
Throw left ==> right hand on cheek bone.
Throw right ==> left hand on cheek bone.
With every punch. Even while throwing combos, retract hands back to cheek.
Practise it in shadowboxing and heavybag...noone else can do it for you.

Weighted punches are the same as weighted running, a good way to get hurt. To punch fast, you must be relaxed. Your hands should strike like a whip, free flowing. The power comes from your lower body and the twist of your hips. Focus on plyometric workouts like the speed bag and pads. These work like quick feet drills in football and basketball.

    • @Aidan42781
      @Aidan42781 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Weighted shadow boxing is tried and true. Just check your ego, be careful and don't go above 2lbs. Using 2lbs weights in exercise with suboptimal leverage is great for making sure your arms stay up in the ring.

    • @andrewbidwell6421
      @andrewbidwell6421 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@Aidan42781 It’s not ego, I went to school for physical therapy. Weights no matter how big forces your muscles to use concentric forces meaning they have to stay tense. This is fine except when you’re training for plyometrics, aka elastic forces like jumping in basketball or punching faster. It’s an odd concept, but the only way to make yourself punch faster and harder is to punch faster and harder lol. That’s why mechanics are so important in say boxing. It’s not just to keep you from getting hurt, it’s to maximize your potential power. Joe Lewis probably knew the most about this. There are some great videos on how he maxed out the power of his cross to devastating effect. I’d check them out.

Weighted punches will compromise technique. Anyone taught otherwise needs to seek a new boxing coach.

Speed is a result that stems from genetics (how much fast twitching muscle fibers have you got from your creator) and good technique (neuromuscular efficiency). Imo, you can't train it with exercises like that.

Do it now

Hmmm there’s always an expert that implies that doing these kinds of exercises increases speed/power and it actually looks viable. Well don’t attack the messenger but it just doesn’t work that way and the science proves it overwhelmingly.
I like your channel, and you’re an awesome instructor and provide tons of useful info.
    But
One of the biggest myths out there is if you use bands or balls or hold weights and perform punching/striking movements it’s going to improve your actual hand speed in the ring is completely false.
I’m a strength coach and rehab specialist snd I’ve worked with elite athletes and a few pro boxers but I’m not some boxing expert btw. But I know the science.
Oh and we’ve known this since the 70s.
For some reason it’s easy to sell the idea of these cool exercises 🤷‍♂️
If you want Faster speeds and power then train the way you do the skill PERIOD. Wear the gloves you wear in the ring and punch a lot, don’t waste your time especially with rubber bands 😂.
Like I said there’s tons of science on the subject it’s not my say so.
Keep up the good work 👍
