- Roots is back, with six-time DP World Tour winner and major champion Shane Lowry as he returns home to Clara, County Offaly.
The mini-documentary series presented by Official Partner Velocity Global charts the stories of different stars of the game of golf and the unique environments in which they grew up, as we travel to Ireland to visit Shane Lowry’s home, meet his family and hear first-hand about the down-to-earth upbringing that has made him the man he is today.

The true pride of Ireland, what a great sports person dad and all round good human being, the Mcgregors of this world could learn a lot from a true sport legend and Irish man like him, best of luck to Shane and the family

I cried so many times during this amazing production I was never sure why I really like Shane Lowry so much and now I understand such a beautiful story and such a wonderful family and friends these are the true fairy tales of our times good on you Shane
An absolute gem of a documentary about an absolutely superb man whom the whole country is so proud of and what a great role model he is for all young sports kids.......Granny is a dote and sings like a lark.
If anyone ever asks you what it's like being Irish, what is Irish culture like? Show them this. This, I think, is the epitome of what the heart of Irish culture is really like!!

This warms my heart, how most Irish people were brought up. And I miss it, being 20 years in America now. I’m from Northern Ireland and a Rory fan, but I’ll fly any Irish flag, strong and true. Because at the end of the day, I’m proud to be Irish.
What an amazing player and what an amazing man. He is a credit to his parents. He clearly is very grounded and hasn't let the fame get to his head. I definitely want to go to his new pub! Would love to see him win the Irish Open in The K Club in 2023. Good man Shane! Great production too from the DP World Tour.

He was a good lad and still is. So real and authentic - I just realised what gave him that tough edge you need to succeed, he played Hurling! Those guys are absolutely crazy!
Jokes aside he is one of my favourite players, he is very humble.
Please youngsters of today look at people like this, what a great role model, care for family, well mannered, believes in where came from his home town - this exceptional. We can learn so much from the likes of Mr Lowery.

I think this video says more about being Irish than anything else. So much of who Shane is (and McIlroy for that matter) has to do with the growing up in Ireland. Lovely to see.
OMG, what does that turd McIlroy have to do with this decent, humble, awesome guy like Shane Lowry. Why do you have to even bring him up in the same breath. Lowry is a class act. McIlroy is an overgrown child who throws his toys out of the cot all the time. Nothing but a baby with millions in the bank. Leave McIlroy out of it.

Living in Australia some 16 years, I have 4 kids under seven so haven’t been home in 5 years.

The comment about Offaly winning An all Ireland final being up there with winning the Open at Royal Portrush speaks volumes of the man, it's not about the money, it's about what you stand for that counts. Good man on and off the course.

My parents came from about 25 mins drive from Offalay (Clara) a place named Portlaoise . Two little towns Mountrath and Mountmellick. We would go every summer school holidays to see family, over 50 yrs ago. Lovely memories of my Grannie, aunts, uncles and cousins. 🇮🇪🇬🇧❤

I had the pleasure of meeting Shane in a hostilery recently....what a super guy.. grounded and a hero to the working class ...legend is often used.....but this man is one....

What a lovely down to earth family, so many proud memories. The star has to be the wee granny , with 13 children! Great video, Shane comes across as the most humble superstar.
Offaly and Kerry in THAT All Ireland is perhaps, along with some Dublin and Kerry games in the 70s, are the most iconic games of football in the history of the GAA. Think Kerry as Barcelona going for their 5th champions league in a row and someone like Aston Villa beating them in the final with a goal 5 minutes into injury time..
This was so enjoyable to watch, such a humble guy and one I love to watch play golf.
I’ve always liked watching Shane play but after seeing this I have even more respect for the lad.

Comes across extremely humble and genial, a typical small town boy. I remember at the 2019 he was the third most popular player there behind GMac and Darren, the support for him was superb. So likeable and deserves every success.

He knows how to win a tournament as all those great golfers can. I doubt if any of those other greats can celebrate in the style that he did on wining The Open. Look up the way he celebrated and above all hear him singing “ My little Honda Fifty”. Brilliant!!.

Shane's dad was probably the most underrated player on that offaly team. He could pick off scores from well out the field when offaly really needed them. Some people would know that he was also a classy soccer player. Athlone town used implore him to sign for them, and that was back when they were the best team in the league of ireland, won two league titles back then. His first love was gaelic football though, and who could blame him. But for the fact that they coincided with that great kerry team, i reckon offaly would have added more all irelands back then.

My claim to fame when it comes to Shane. The year after he won the Irish Open as an amateur. I was shopping in Athlone with my wife. We had parked the car in an underground car park and as we walked along i heard the rumble of a V8 engine. I looked around to see a silver Range Rover being driven by a woman and thinking to myself "I'd love one of those". She was having trouble parking it and asked me if id park it for her. I said i would and being a smart ass i asked why was she driving it if she couldn't park it. She informed me "it belongs to my son". I asked her if her son was famous or was he a drug dealer... "Id rather not say" was her answer. So i said "Ok, so he's a drug dealer"... She laughed and said "no, he's a golfer, he's Shane Lowry"... With that i very nearly crashed his car. Being an Offaly man myself, the sense of pride in the man and what he had achieved even in these, his fledgling years as a golfer, representing Ireland and more importantly Offaly was immense.
We got into the lift together and spoke of Shane and his career. The Dubai desert classic was coming up and i asked her how she thought he might do in it and she said "Well i might have a tenner on him myself"... He didn't win it... But it didn't matter.
What a man that faith has chosen to represent this Country, this County. What a man...
