The neck braces Babymetal wears in Headbanger and other songs is a tribute to this drummer.

Yoshiki, the drummer has continued as a songwriter and producer and his is one that is the inspiration for the neck collar in Headbanger. X Japan was scheduled to be the first band from Japan to play Wembley Arena. Instead it was Babymetal, Yoshiki was in England at the time and met with Su, Moa, Yui and the band, congratulating them. To say the girls and the band were excited and honored is an understatement.

BabyMetal's Akatsuki has some homage to X-Japan, especially this song Kurenai. Even the scream "Akatsuki daaaaa" is borrowed from "Kurenai daaaaa"
    (Slightly better quality)
X Japan - Kurenai Live 1989 (Blue Blood Tour - 爆発寸前GIG)
    th-cam.com/video/_7Uao7lrSxo/w-d-xo.html
    (Better quality)
    X JAPAN 1994 白い夜 紅 (中日字幕)
    th-cam.com/video/EECtraE8mdk/w-d-xo.html
The creator of BabyMetal Koba Metal is a huge X-Japan fan.
Even the ending chant of BabyMetal "We are BabyMetal" is also borrowed from them "We are X".
The neck brace (corset) worn by the drummer is also the inspiration of BabyMetal corset in HeadBanger and also in the song BabyMetal Death (BabyMetal lore).
That is how big there are in Japan.

I'm sure this has already been mentioned since this video has been out for a year and a half but the last live is pretty much everyone's go to. The reason for that being that it's basically the best quality that you're going to find of the FULL band before member loss. There are other versions of this song with a piano/violin intro which is really nice, and the quality really is nicer, but you don't get that pink spider grin.
Yoshiki on the drums is classically trained and really puts a lot into the composition of these songs. It's a shame that audio and video quality is what it was at the time. I would have loved to have heard the FULL band with modern tech because I know Yoshiki really would have brought out the most of the sound from every instrument. Even with so much going on and the low quality, you can still hear so much of what's going on and that would be even more the case with today's tech.
We have had confirmation almost 2 years ago that they have a new album that is done and are just waiting for the right time to release it. I'm thinking it might be a 25year memorial celebration for hide's death which was in 98. Sadly that would be a wait till 2023 so I'm hoping that's not the case.

Tks for the reaction and sorry for the bad quality audio. I wanted to send you this one, even being old, cause it was a really meaningful concert.. the last one before the band breaks up and Hide died (pink haired guitarist).
In 2008 they picked a new guitarist and reunited to release new stuff and tour around the world, but although there's some great new songs and videos, the 90s were their golden age imo.

Please react to more of them. PS. We dont care bout the quality of the sound that much, rather react to Live shows rather than studio.

You want a better sound? Well, then I can only recommend the cover of this song by a band called 'Nemophila'. As far as the instruments are concerned, their version doesn't have to hide from the original. As for the lyrics, it has to be said that their singer sings them completely by ear, as she speaks almost no English. So this comparison should be left aside. Nevertheless, I think their cover is phenomenal. 🔥🤘🏻

You know that was their last live. They don't play anymore. They were very influential to rock/metal in Japan. The Japanese equivalent of bands like Metallica to the Japanese people. Biggest band in Japan. Unfortuantely the guitarist Hide took his own life. And the drummer now cannot walk properly and do strainful activities because he drummed himself into a wheelchair. He drummed so hard in every performance that his back couldnt take it anymore. They are veterans in Japanese metal. They influenced alot of the bands like The GazettE and Dir En Grey. They also made Visual Kei style popular.

Hate to be that guy but X Japan reunited in 2007 although they haven't done anything since 2018. Yoshiki (the drummer) is perfectly fine besides the fact his neck is mangled and he has tendonitis which makes it hard for him to play piano at times. His days are pretty much numbered as a drummer and pianoist.
EDIT: or his days have past but he refuses to give up.
