Another interesting fact that I’ve noticed about Pocketcat, he’s in an abusive relationship with Rher, he loves to hurt kids, he says it’s the only thing that bring him joy, but Rher always prevents him to do so unless there are parents that care about them.
I think Rher doesn’t just hate humans, but it’s own creations as well, as they will always be half human in some way.
That’s why Pocketcat always strive to other people’s love, because it’s own creator hates him.
That's an interesting observation, who knows, maybe deep down pocketcat despite....a very bad behaviour we may say... especially with kids... maybe he didn't want this at the beginning, but he's fine with it!
@@frapollo94 I mean, the thing is like some sort of Symbiote that jumps from Host to host, so it’s believable to think that rare made him with killing kids in mind, as they ARE effectively the future of humankind, but maybe he likes hurting them because they are blessed with the love that he never received.

We know that Rher is against more gods ascending, so him having Pocketcat trap god candidates in a DN dream makes perfect sense. Le’Garde was too strong-minded to go along with it, so he got locked in PC’s office

Fun theory but I think the second phase of the Kaiser boss fight kind of forces D’arce’s S ending to happen, since we see he loses his skin and is just a red flesh man just like after the resurrection in that ending. This also lines up with his ruthlessness, which is how he’s described in the ending text. The Yellow King ending is much different, as he is said to be benevolent and bring prosperity whereas the Kaiser is never described that way iirc. The S-ending also lines up with his pre-fight text where he talks about how he once thought it was his own destiny to become an ascended god but it passed him by.
I think we can probably also say the Ragnavaldr S-ending happens because of August and Moonless’s interaction in Termina, implying August is descended from Rag in some way and his S-ending is the most likely explanation. Moonless wouldn’t be carrying multiple swords from the dungeon if Rag didn’t manage to overcome the horrors of it and walk out with greater strength, assuming he takes Moonless with him
Le'garde ending I disagree but even achieving the S D'arce ending would be possible keeping into consideration that D'arce may break the illusion she's living in if the real Le'garde tried to talk to her! (But still remember that even the creatures in the void lost their skin)
Rag S Ending can't be happened because of crow mauler being alive! He could've done those other things like helping moonless before entering in the dream!

Also, Pocket Cat never does seem to actually care that much for the players, at least so I think he wouldn't use the powers of Rher for trapping them for the reason of being loved, I don't think he even actually cares if he's loved or not
About the fourth wall break, the book lets you choose the story but you're from the point of view of the book character not point of view of player or Funger character. Depression and Happiness are stats that are granted when he asks the character if he's happy or not, so it's not related to fourth wall at all. He breaks the fourth wall at termina, but it's more of a meta commentary that he points similarities to majora's mask

It's not really related to the video itself, but I love the art that was used for the thumbnail, especially since it proves that pocketcat is genuinely terrifying before being an goofy character that call you his friend. Imagine been in the forest at night, having an bad feeling in your spine and turning around, only to see an tall man with an uncanny mask just stalking you.

I really like Pocket cat because altough he is a disgusting character that does horrible things to children, he is also so complex, when you talk to him he can come out as likeable, the way he talks and the way he pounders about his own feelings and existence can be not just relatable but also worth of sympathy, he is a terrible monster but it's hard to hate him when he is also so charismatic and human.
Either way, i guess it makes sense for people to think that his character is so deep, just like his pockets.

@@frapollo94 What doesn't connect with Rag dying is that August calls Moonless a family friend, indicating Moonless and Rag escaped together. Though, I don't think that makes the theory less true, Pocketcat could have given up the dream considering he's in Termina and failed if the girl escaped.

I think another cool instance of pocketcat breaking the fourth wall is in the Museum in Termina when he talks about different types of artists and eventually asks us what type of artist is the "one who dreamed this.. The one deep underground".
He could also be referring to one of the gods idk but it also works in reference to Miro Haverinen, the one who dreamed up and created the game itself

Interesting theory, but there some things I have to say/ask:
1. How does the Girl survive the Gauntlet by herself? She can't fight unless you give her equipment or teach her magic, neither of which happens in Dungeon Nights afaik.
2. Also, who kills the 3 organs for her to ascend if she doesn't know enough about how ascension works to do it herself?
3. And how does Moonless have all these swords stuck inside her if she escaped by herself?
4. There's a fairy tale mentioning Crow Mauler dating before the time of Captain Rudimer, so the God of the Depths is implied to be able to create a Crow Mauler whenever the previous one died. This means the Crow Mauler that O'saa encountered in the Dungeons before Termina is probably a different bloke than our Rudimer.
5. How does Le'Garde beat the Skin Granny, Valtiel, and Chambara by himself if he's unable to heal himself when and if he escapes his imprisonment?
6. Under your theory, do you suppose that the Dungeon Nights dream sequence happens closer to the end of the Dungeon for all the prerequisites to be met but for the main cast to still get trapped with Pocketcat?
7. If Miro adds a Termina Nights mode to FnH 2, would that be to prevent Logic from ascending, or to ensure that all the contestants become Sulfur cultists, or for some other reason?

1: not considering in dungeon nights you have immediate access to all skills and there is money on the ground, also that's too much mixing gameplay with lore
2: organs can be killed by others before entering the dream (such as a certain Oldegard man)
3: she is still in the dungeon by the end, she has time to stick swords

5: mixing gameplay too much, real battles don't take turns, Le'garde is powerful, and he can find a way to heal himself, he prepared this plan a lot, I doubt his plan was just coping
6: If I understand what you mean then yes!
7: I guess we still have to see what's gonna be present in that mode before thinking about it!
You're welcome my friend! Of course this is just a theory, if you really scavenge all the dungeon you may find some things that are slightly off (otherwise this would be canon lol) but still it doesn't even make that less sense!

That's a really good theory and probably the Intention of Orange for the lore of Dungeon Nights. That being said he also told us that dungeon nights isn't canon to the main game events so the analogies at the end were kinda pointless.
He also one time told that only stuff present in game is considerable canon, and not what he says outside of it!

Wait, if Ragnavaldr never left and Moonless was the one to lead the Girl, how does that explain Moonless and Auguste being in Termina? Auguste is pretty well implied to be a descendant of Ragnavaldr in some capacity, what with the hair and hunting and Moonless being a "family friend"(also her being alive despite letting the Girl become GOFAH doesn’t track given everything) which does imply Ragnavaldr had his S ending. Isn't that like a big hole in the theory?
As I said girl entered into God Of Depths leaving Moonless behind, as they talked to Nilvan and knew what was gonna happen! Rag doesn't get S ending, Crow mauler is in termina, August can be a descendant of Rag regardless of Rag dying, moonless can recognize scent of friends, that's why he attacks you in Termina, and that's why She and August are friends!

i've always seen pocketcat as like nyarlathotep of the lovecraft mythos. He is the physical arm of the concepts that are the gods that now slumber (or in this case finish their tenure like a teacher) And with his powers he can manifest throughout history to ensure that things go a very particular direction. Sure he only is the servant of Rher, but why would he still be here if Rher is supposedly dead like Perkele was trying to suggest? And if Rher is actually dead why is his husk of a face still scorching people centuries later lol

I've enjoyed this video more than I have the iceberg one and I see that maybe(?) you've taken some of the things I said to heart as the pacing in this video is much better, you go into detail about more things, and the text is on the screen longer allowing me to read it when I want to. However there still is a problem.
Unfortunately I've already spoiled myself quite a bit on this game which is a shame as at this point I probably won't be playing it myself. The game seemed like something I wouldn't enjoy for quite a long time, but as I watched more and more of your videos and streams (as well as other people's) I've grown to really like the game. People are starting to talk more and more about the game so the game is getting more and more popular, and a lot of people will choose to watch the game instead of playing it themselves.
The problem is that this game seems to be more like Dark Souls lore wise, by which I mean that people can complete it without really understanding wtf is going on. I'm guessing that your audience in the beginning were fans of Fear & Hunger who have played the game extensively and loved it since they are looking for content on TH-cam instead of just putting the game down after finishing it.
What it means is that a lot of the stuff you talked about went over my head, and I have watched a full playthrough of the game. I am quite a lore guy, I google things and read the wiki, so I am suspecting it is worse for others. So when referencing things like "Ending C", "Miasma" etc. you can't just say them. You need to provide sufficient context so that people understand the point you're trying to make. Currently I finished the video and I didn't understand what you were trying to say at all as I have no clue what things you're referencing as evidence even are.
A video summarizing the whole game's lore would be a solution as people who have no intent of playing the game can get all the lore they need from that. But IMO the best solution for any video essay or theory is to thoroughly go into sufficient detail of every event of the game that you are talking about in it so your whole audience is on the same page. Maybe there's stuff I'm still unfamiliar with even after watching a playthrough, most I've seen were from you and due to the mechanics of the game you understandably skip all of the dialogue due to resource usage over time. Maybe I'm completely wrong on all of this and there's a reasonable way to catch up on the lore without having to play the game myself. But even me feeling like pointing this out should hopefully let you see that there is a problem and it needs some kind of solving. As an expert of a different field I can relate to how easy it is to assume that other people know information which to you is obvious. I used to often go "how don't you even know a simple thing like this???" only to reflect and realize the amount of work that is actually required for someone to figure it out when they start from the very beginning.
Another small thing is your accent, while there's nothing wrong about having an accent of course I think a good addition would be some on screen "subtitles" which would serve to drive the point across, like when you get closer to the mic for the Frapollo signature ASMR but in a visual form.
Overall despite the above and despite not even understanding what your theory is about I've been really enjoying watching your channel which is why I'm even writing this in the first place. Your personality combined with the contagious passion for the game are a great combo and I would like you to see you go far.

Yeah I perfectly understand what you mean, my brain automatically thinks that someone who watches theory videos knows the basic stuff such as Miasma or something, but maybe for the future I need to try to go even more into details! About the subtitles I don't think I'm gonna add them tho, I don't have a video editor at the moment and the recording + editing takes away a huge part of my day, in the remaining part I study or am at university, so adding even more work with weekly video releases is kinda difficult! Or maybe I'll change my release schedule... who knows!

Honestly, the level of depth in an RPG maker game of which most players won't see more than 10 mins is INSANE. I've never played the game, but I've been devouring the lore from it and I feel like this well is bottomless.

August from termina and ragnavaldr are definitely related by either being the same person or being an ancestor. Wouldnt make sense if he was stuck in a dream. Le'Garde was also resurrected by D'arce at one point judging by Kaiser's appearance in termina.
Rag could have descendants independently from the fact that the family he has in Oldegard died because of Le'garde!
Also Le'garde skin falling off happens even to creatures in the void!
@@frapollo94 August calling moonless a family friend implies that moonless was intorduced to the rest of his family by Ragnavaldr. If Ragnavaldr stayed in the dream then Moonless would need to find his remaining family on her own somehow, whereever they might be.

Yeah, the Blights, their greater variants and Molded all lack skin, but Le'garde himself doesn't. The only time in the first game Le'garde has anything even close to a skinless appearance is in D'arce's S ending.

2:27 I am not entirely sure Pocketcat has (simulated) awareness of the player, he might be a meta textual entity between F&H world and his storybook world. He could’ve seen the Termia contestants through his books. Such a situation would make him a text-breaching entity, but not necessarily simulating an awareness of the player qua player.
I don't know, I think considering all the things together he seems a 4th wall breaking character!

One day I have to prove I'm not pocketcat, BUT NOT TODAY!
I think Pocketcat is based on the work of an artist named Louis Wain (1860-1939). Although Louis Wain was relatively well known for his early works featuring anthropomorphic cats published in scores of magazines and childrens books. He ultimately become famous for his decent into madness. Which gave his later works (again featuring anthropomorphic cats) unsettling and psychotic quality's.
Plus when you look at Miro Haverinen (the Fear and Hunger dev...) horrifically twisted characters designs it's pretty obvious that his artistic style is based on a dark and macabre type of abstract surrealism. Another hint backing up this idea can be found when you talk to Pocketcat in the Museum (Fear and Hunger 2 Termina) as I don't believe it's a mistake that yourself and Pocketcat have your conversation while standing in font of a massive copy of "Guernica". One of Pablo Picasso's most famous and disturbing paintings, Guernica was inspired by the 1937 Spanish civil and is known because of its powerful abstract portrayal of universal suffering, especially that of innocent victims...

What if Pocketcat is actually Rher? What if Pocketcat is just Rher pretending to be something less than what he truly is? Kinda like a huge bad villain, pretending to be a simple underling to have fun? Like in God of War where Zeus pretends to be a simple Gravekeeper. Pocketcat is most definitely evil, but damn is he a charming character. I mean, just look at that smile!
Honestly, odds are Cahara's A ending is the only regular canon ending, there is essentially zero mention of him compared to any of the other og characters and we know the GoF&H is active so it makes sense he died in the dungeon. Then followed by all the other Specials, especially Rag seeing as the world of termina barely knows about monsters and evil beings and that was Rag's mission after he became a hunter, August realistically should'nt know Moonless and also its implied in game that he is Rag's descendant. That couldn't happen if he hadn't escaped the Dungeon in the first game. Kaiser can literally be shown to have no skin the same as Le'garde in De's S ending when you use rot, that only happens with him iirc. Lastly we got spooky boy having survived as well with his S ending, shown in how he is a important being to the dark priests in the second game (doesn't he also do the narrating in the 1st? Or something like that i dont remember) and lastly, na'ash'ra (however tf u write his name) is still in this game, also burnt to a crisp yet luckily still kicking enough to serve as a glorified hint button lol Now before you mention the Crow Mauler, he literally respawns in the first game, its not a stretch to think there was another one roaming around after Rag thought he killed them all, but what is highly unlikely to me is that Rag would just go and start another family when the man was literally too angry to die and only in the dungeon in the first place to kill Le'garde on account of the knights having killed his tribe/entire family. It just doesn't sit with his character at all.
My point is, just cause cahara isn't mentioned in termina doesn't mean he took the girl, girl can reach the altar even alone
Also rag can have had descendants before entering the dungeon, I know his family got killer by legarde, but it was medieval time, oldegardians travelled a lot, and rag met plenty of other people
Also even im ending C creatures lose skin, look at greater blight
As much as fun this one is- there's far more things that work against it

Descendants can be present regardless of Rag dying lol

In Termina, at the museum, if you talk to him Pocketcat will look at the screen (you) whike you talk to him. But if Daan has moonscorched, he will will look at the contestant you are playing as, like it's Daan recognising them or the "different" version of Pocketcat not being as aware of /us/ and instead focusing on former friends.

I think one of the most compelling pieces of evidence for me is extremely simple: The placement of the difficulty for the Dungeon Nights mode. It's placed beyond what is normally the hardest difficulty, implying this is a step up. It could've been placed on top, where you could select it immediately, but that choice wasn't made.
Given how 3 of the playable characters are literally incapable of getting their S ending in this mode, this does make it more more difficult on technicality at least, so it's fitting in my mind.

In Feat and Hunger Termina, Rhers eyes are Missing. as is his own mask (Seen in his skin bible)
He has only craters where they used to be. Of course it could be artistic rendition, but in The Tale of The Pocketcat you can see a Cresent moon with four eyes.
I think this symbolizes his not actually being there anymore, not even watching. Just gone in terms of his core presence. And in this, the moon has been unmasked, All his craters showing.
