Michael Cooper's speech was grateful and moving. Michael, thanks for all you've done. You're much more than a NBA Hall of Fame great. You're one genuine down to earth fine individual and a total class act.
One of the GOAT defensive players, one of the GOAT overall role-players, one of the GOAT 6th men, and an integral part of one of the GOAT dynasties! Well deserved. Great speech!
I usually don't listen to HOF speeches, but this one was good. Coop was such an important part of the 80's dynasty. Loved how he paid tribute to the logo.
This is so deserved. I’m so happy for Coop mainly because the lakers have an unwritten rule that you can’t get your jersey retired till you’re a HOF. For ANY other franchise, a man who played his entire career with 1 franchise and won 5 rings for an iconic dynasty that changed the popularity of the sport would get that honor easily. But now he will get that #21 rightfully in the rafters. And he’s such a great ambassador for the lakers franchise. Truly purple and gold through and through.
Coooooppp has always been a cool & humble dude. He made me tear uo when talking about "The Logo" Jerry West. I was fortunate to play with Coop, Magic, Baby B Byron Scott, Worthy, etc, at UCLA many summers ago. Just a special group of guys who would give you the shirt off their backs if necessary. Thanks & Congratulations, Coop!!
Wow !!! First, what a beautifully delivered speech. 2nd, "Coop" you sure were a pain in the you know what to my Celtics and Larry Bird back in the 80s. You were tougher than tough. Congratulations on a most well deserved place in the Hall of Fame . A great player and a beautiful man. °☆ a life long Celtics fan.
I am a nurse, and i had the pleasure in meeting cooper at the nursing home i was working at, he was visiting one of his relatives. He saw that i was so excited to meet him that he went to his car and brought me a bobble head of himself. What a cool guy. You deserve it cooper!
Before robert horry, there was michael cooper who redefined the position of role player a non all star to win multiple titles before horry surpassed him
@@cottonmather8146 Cooper played 30+mins in five title runs defending most famous players in history. He won many huge games for lakers. To me he was best defender against Jordan.. Cooper has his case...

Possibly the greatest induction speech I have ever heard! Congratulations Coop! Celtics fan I watched it all good on you no one coveted Legend like you!
Full of gratitude, which is what I have for being able to watch Coop in person and on TV with my dad for all those great years. No Coop, no championships. The socks, the exposed drawstrings, the D, the wristbands. Just my favorite Laker.
I love Coop, he deserves it… Regardless, what about Laimbeer? The fact most people hate his guts doesn’t take anything away from a phenomenal career The man was a 4 time all-star, 1 time lead rebounder, starting center of a back-to-back team that reached 3 finals in a row and 5 conference finals in a row, and that was during the golden era of centers Even so, he also had a phenomenal coaching career.
Coop's HOF speech was the fourth one that has made me cry. Jerry Sloan (Norm Van Lier story); Oscar Schmidt (wife tribute); Ralph Sampson (Artis Gilmore story) and now this one - a few times. His Jim Chones reference as well as recognizing the other defense-first HOFers. Welcome to my "Made-me-Cry" HOF Coop! Wonderful player. Great speech and, yes, best of all - a terrific human being.
Congratulations Coop!! It’s not always about stats. It’s about impact & what your peers say during your time of play & Coop was the man known for his defense & ability to play multiple positions.I wish he would’ve gotten in earlier so some of his other family members could’ve shared the moment.HOF thank you for finally getting it right
So happy Michael Cooper is in the Hall of Fame. My favorite memory? 1985 NBA championship game 2. After the disappointing 1984 loss and the Memorial Day Massacre in game 1, Coop hit key jump shots in game 2 to help the Lakers win. On most other NBA teams Coop would have averaged 20 ppg. Congrats Coop!
Pasadena we got us one, remember going to Coop camp every summer at PHS this man had me in defensive stands for ever for FN up congratulations Legend even though you where a Legend to the city for a long time now a Legend to the world
I watch Michael Cooper played defense against my Boston Celtics and I fear he will stop the offense and most of the time he did. I remember a play where he was far beneath the ring and he went up to rainbow area and block a shot of his opponent. He is one hell of a defender. Congratulation Cooper.
Popularity contest. You really think Dame or James Harden deserve top 75 over certain other players? Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway also didn't make the cut. Both got injured but prior to that they were destined to be in top 20 talks all time. Grant not making it is pathetic. Penny was a face of the game in the 90's and did a lot too. But Cooper based on his resume should be clearly !
The best Michael Cooper moment by far occured in game four of the 1984 NBA Finals when Larry Bird using his butt alone toppled Michael Cooper head over heels into the camera well causing the crowd at The Forum to let out this loud gasp of shock and fear. God bless Dick Stockton for commenting on it and giving it further attention. CBS added a replay in slow motion, also. This event is worth rewatching hundreds of times. You won't find a better Michael Cooper moment.
Ahmad looks like one of America's Most Wanted. 😅😅😅 CoopALoop was the Lakers. He was the guy who guarded the other teams best player. Talk to Larry, MJ, Dr J, etc. He made their lives a living hell most games. He took pride in his Defense!

May God continue to bless you and your love ones Mr. Swiss Knife Cooper..
every championship dynasty needs a glue guy on their team that didnt care about their stats but did all the dirty work. That guy for the Showtime Lakers was Michael Cooper. Glad he finally got in.

Long overdue. If Dennis Rodman is the Hall (well deserved) then Coop is a no brainer. 8x all defense. 5X championship. 1X DPOY. Defense is at least 50% of basketball. And on that side of the ball coop was one of the best who ever did it. Just ask Larry Bird.
He should've been in the hall of fame long ago! Legend!
Im telling you! His resume is way better than a loooot of players they let in before him. Im glad they finally did the right thing!
