What a wonderful artist. He is so musical and his arrangements are so rich: retaining the original integrity of the song and often bringing something new and valid as well. In my house we call someone like him a "phone book" performer. I'd buy a ticket to see him perform the phone book. Hope he does this for a long time.

Jake Shimabukuro's performance is phenomenal. He has been recognized as a Wizard, "God", Master.
Jake has set new benchmark for ukulele players.
Thanks a lot, Jake. You are an inspiration to the world.

Jakes 4 string ukulele plays (as always) like a symphony. Thank for posting this wonderful song!

I just got tickets to see Jake. I think, regardless of any other concert group I go see in my life, this will be the best one I will ever see. I feel so much emotion welling up inside of me with each song that Jake does.

Jake uses d'addario strings which produce a slightly fuller tone and he's playing a custom kamaka. but really what makes him sound so good is that he's truly mastered the instrument.

While watching this, I put in my headphones and closed my eyes
I felt as if I were actually there listening to him play with all the background noise
including the sounds of the children
omg it was so beautiful.. T.T

A STANDARD tenor ukulele? No, surely not. This Ukulele was designed by Jake Shimabukuro hisself and made by Casey Kamaka. Only 500 exist. So if you want to get your hands on one, you probably wont say it's just a standard ukulele. It's one of the best Ukuleles existing in the world. And one of the most expensive ones.

Only guy besides Kurt Niellsen who's ever covered this song and not looked like an idiot. No disrespect, but many people cover this song because they think they can top Leonard Cohen vocally.
    ...
    They can't.

I dont think it's a "magic ukulele". It's just a very good one; I just wanted to tell you that, in my opinion, this isnt just any standard ukulele. Of course it has 4 strings tuned GCEA and also has 18 frets. It's a ukulele ;) I've got a "standard" tenor ukulele and Jake's one sounds really A LOT better. But I think the sound also depends on the proper use of techniques, like Jake's using them.
