So much has already been said about this young woman's beautiful, clear, and awesome voice (and all righteously deserved) that I feel some other aspects should also be given their due. 1) The sparseness of the accompaniment is brilliant. Yes, the playing is wonderful but the choice of this arrangement is fantastic as it compliments the loneliness and angst of the song. 2) The passion and heart that goes beyond the mere beautiful gift of her voice reaches into my heart and shakes my soul. 3) What a great location! what is great about this version of this song is that the singer is not trying to tell us how great she is but how great the song is the singer and the song kind of meld together
Just saw this almost 6 years after they posted this---amazing! Totally got into the background, the most excellent guitar work, and that voice---that voice with the tremeloes, the force, and the shades of feeling. I'm not a vocal expert but I like what moves me. . . and I am an ancient old man who witnessed another angel (among many). There is going to be one mighty chorus sending me off. In my dreams, perchance, but a mighty chorus indeed!
Notice how she pulls back from the mic when singing the loud chorus and then moves closer on the quiet verse. You get an intimate feel on the verse, yet the chorus doesn't overload the mic and recording system. Plus the eye contact between the two of them so they're both synchronised with each other. This video is a mini-masterclass on how to record a song.
KlazyY I absolutely agree. I am an old woman and these two would have made Leonard Cohen proud. I hope they are okay and still creating music and feeling and joy
I’ve listened to many many singers ding this priceless, timeless masterpiece and this is the prize, the gem, the best I have ever heard… Thank you beautiful girl!
The amazing acoustics of a large, cold, hard, empty stairwell served this girl well. You can't miss a note in a place like that because the sound is so full in that space. A missed note screams back in your ears like an icy wind. Whoever you are - good job. This was a joy to hear.
Hi Colleen...funny I'm usually such a stickler about grammar, syntax and spelling, however in this day and age the spelling might just be correct. Cheers and Merry Christmas.

The touch on the guitar is perfect..just the right tone !
I'll have a good night.
Beautiful voice. Beautiful version of the song. Keep up the beautiful work, you can reach very high, much higher than those fake Hollywood singers. Just beautiful.
This is 15 yrs back, I hope she's retained a successful musical career! Majorly strong Hold back of her mighty VOICE! Thank you both guitarist and this lovely Voice! Amen!
Why am I just now hearing this amazingness!!😦
Straight to my soul.!!! I needed that cry!! Thank you for sharing your gift.
Johnnie
Acoustics are perfect. We used to practice in a parking garage for that sound. They found it in a stairway. What a beautiful performance.
I said year’s ago that this lil lady needs a record deal
what is great about this version of this song is that the singer is not trying to tell us how great she is but how great the song is the singer and the song kind of meld together
The vocal and the guitar were well done and inspiring.
I couldn't have said it better myself, her voice brought a damned tear to my eye.
Only one?
KlazyY. Yes, a mighty chorus, indeed. And some of us will hear.
I’ve listened to many many singers ding this priceless, timeless masterpiece and this is the prize, the gem, the best I have ever heard… Thank you beautiful girl!
🎉😢
The amazing acoustics of a large, cold, hard, empty stairwell served this girl well. You can't miss a note in a place like that because the sound is so full in that space. A missed note screams back in your ears like an icy wind. Whoever you are - good job. This was a joy to hear.
Beautiful and sublime..."and the words of the profits are written on the subway walls...and tenement halls...and echo in the sounds of silence
wayne moores sound of silence
no disrespect...but those are "prophets". Profits are money :)
sounded beautiful
Hi Colleen...funny I'm usually such a stickler about grammar, syntax and spelling, however in this day and age the spelling might just be correct. Cheers and Merry Christmas.
...Simon & Garfunkel - Nice sentiment...Thanks & praise yours....
One guitar and a soaring glorious voice. Hallelujah.
Still listen regularly. Makes me emotional. Nov.2024
Same here. Then I listen to KD Lang
And then Leonard Cohen. I love them all
Ok....just the best version I have heard of this wonderful song. Thanks so much.
I’ll be damned...
Stunning version. That young girls voice is incredible and the guitarist is amazing can't stop playing it
I don't think we were listening to the same girl
The purest and most real version of this song…. I come back often just to hear it
Every time I hear someone else sing this song I search for the girl on the staircase because she touches my soul. The guitar playing is beautiful. Together they’re perfect. Thank you.
Look up skeye, that is the name of this band. They have lots of great songs.

Hi Brandon , thank you I wound up looking for them and really like everything about them. Their version on Hallelujah is still my favourite. Thanks again.
