Wie begnadet Joscho Stephan Gypsy Klassiker auf seine Weise interpretiert, wissen die Fans dieser Musik schon lange. Auf zahlreichen Festivals beeindruckte er auch mit dem Django Reinhardt Minor Swing (u.a. mit Frank Vignola 2011 auf dem Eddie Lang Festival). Auch bei unserer Konzertreihe Jazz Club Hannover by Gartenheim zählte diese Version zu einem von vielen Highlights.
Fancier of this genre know that Joscho Stephan is exceptionally gifted in playing his interpretations of Django`s Songs. He played this particular version of Minor Swing before with the great Frank Vignola on the famous Eddie Lang Festival. At the concert Hannover Jazzclub Hannover by Gartenheim it was also one of a lot highlights.
That vibraphone was pretty unexpected, but the player killed it, it adds a unique sound to the song, and I've never seen a vibraphone in gypsy before. Excellent cover.

dufus I’m agree but no offence I if correct you since the instrument is not a xylophone (xylos come from Greek and mean wood) he’s playing a vibraphone (metal keyboard)😉

The ambience that the xylophone adds in the back when Joscho is playing his solo makes the sound so rich!
Xylo means wood in Latin, that's a vibraphone

@@secretidentitynetwork3085 It's a vibraphone! it had things that spin that makes the notes vibrate. Its a pretty awsome instrument and widely used in jazz.

Yeah, I'd never heard the vibes player before -- is he Austrian? Actually, Joscho is what -- Belgian? French? Whatever his nationality, he's the best guitar player I'm aware of, he and Tommy E. maybe a tie.

No it's not it's just standard tuning
Its a minor chord with the flat 7 on the D string. Pretty simple really.

top rate band - everyone was fantastic! I was particularly amazed by the guy playing rhythm guitar - rather than holding a pick he appeared to be thrashing the strings with his thumb - not fingerpicking in the folk or country blues style, just thrashing with his thumb. Sounded good though.😃
4:03 anyone know what that technique is called?
He's arpeggiating the chords, but very fast and precise. "House of the rising sun" by the animals has the same thing as guitar part, but slower. To arpeggiate is to play the notes in a chord individually instead of all at once.
