I almost can't watch this. The passion that went into this. The level of talent... Joscho is just out of this world. Like 90 years ago he just.. jesus. Django would have loved it for sure!
The technique is certainly amazing. But what seems even more amazing to me is the ability to recall the million little licks and phrases instantly, amend them and collate so that they make perfect musical story, keeping the listener engaged from point 1 to END, delivered with lightness and without hesitation. True jazz thinking at amazing level - similar to Charlie Parker and John Coltrane.
I think music at this level belongs to the most underrated and under estimated aspects of human existance.... Kenny Burrell talked about this in a lecture he gave. It's a sad thing that this is not talked about on a greater scale.
@@alainvosselman9960 I agree completely! please could you post a link or tell me where you found that Kenny Burrell lecture? or just point me in the direction of someone who talks more about this sort of stuff...? thanks

Just love that Blue Drag and it's a tune I haven't heard before. Joscho can sometimes be a bit flash but he has such a feel for the music and an outrageous technique. That fast strumming is just unbelievable. He's possibly the greatest acoustic guitarist on the planet.

Easily one of the Very Best if not the Best. Although Music is highly subjective to opinions and taste. But I've watched his Versatility, Control, Articulation, Clarity, Creativeness, Technique, Passion, Variation, feel and Speed work. He spurrs me on to improve and to continue to evolve in every way. Earlier in the video Joscho mentions that the guitar he is playing is a "raffle guitar". Guess who won that raffle and now has this very guitar? ME!! (Actually my wife plays it mostly...). Now if I could just do what he does with it...
I have a tendency to watch my fingers when I'm playing (bass) and I've always remembered a comment to the effect of "if you have to watch yourself play or can't play without looking, you're not that good. I'm glad I saw this performance :)

Joscho is the best of the gypsy jazz guitar players in my humble little opinion. So fast, clean and melodic.....always melodic. And he is also a superb electric player when he picks up a big jazz guitar like a Gibson L5.

Every time I watch a Joscho video, there’s some point at which I shake my head in disbelief! There are no words to describe the mans technique.
