    Hi.. what do you think this honda civic nvh compare to mazda cx-3? Like wind noise, enjine rev or gearbox sound Thank a lot👌

    • @LouisSiah
      @LouisSiah  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm based on the 2017 cx3 that I drove the civic might be slightly better in overall nvh except for the sound of the CVT. I really don't like the continuous-dragging-of-the-gear sound in CVTs when accelerating. plus points of the 1.5 tc civic is the cheaper roadtax yet slightly more powerful, more comfortable seats for long drives, and larger rear leg room, other than that it's a "dead car", no feel. I have not driven the latest cx3 but I can say I prefer driving the CX3 because of the responsiveness, sharpness of the steering and most importantly it's not a CVT paired with a good old 2.0l which you won't have to worry about turbo rosak because it doesn't have one, and overall cx3 feels more sporty. there's just one big downside, the rear legroom is really tight for me, so unless you're single you're going to have to ask your rear passengers to bear with potential claustrophobia.

      +syed omar Daud hii syed omar! I would choose civic for its comfy ride and engine option. Although the drive isn't sharp but i would still choose it over altis because altis has nothing that catches my attention like the comfy seats and 1.5 turbocharged engine, of course feels more premium inside. Personal opinion la.

    Hi, i in dilemma between hyundai ioniq vs honda civic 1.5? Can you share your opinion? Tq

    • @LouisSiah
      @LouisSiah  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmmm. I'll list out some points to consider. Hyundai ioniq definitely has better fuel consumption, the driving experience is also quite good for a car that price range, the safety feature in the plus variant is definitely way better than civic in sure you have also seen the spec. The two biggest plus point that i see in the Civic is only the resale value(but that's subjective and i dont really care about that) and the ride comfort, the seat is definitely more comfortable but other than that i don't see anything else that is better unless you love the power since it has 17x+hp with just a 1.5l engine, the steering is also not very sharp in my humble opinion. I can't say which is more reliable because i never own them but i advice you to check owner groups on Facebook, if they're active, they can provide a lot of ownership info. For me, I personally would choose Ioniq plus. Feel free to ask any other questions :)

    • @zaemahzaki4402
      @zaemahzaki4402 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup im aware of the resale price for civic better than hybrid car...if only msia user more open to hybrid car..ioniq is more advanced their tech..

    im considering new honda civic and 2nd hand 2016-2017 Bmw 320i series..test drive civic before.. feel not bad, but road noise wind nois definitely a concern for me.. but not sure for 320i since i saw u had one video too.. which one i should choose in term of comform, sound insulation?

    • @LouisSiah
      @LouisSiah  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are different aspects to consider though. 1st, about comfort, the 320i of course feels more comfortable for the driver and co driver but not so comfortable for the REAR passengers in terms of seat ergonomics and depending on the material, I realised the brown seats are slightly softer than the black leather, this is based on my personal experience in the F30 range, so rear passenger comfort wise, civic isn't too far behind from the 320i.
      2nd, I also personally feel BMWs have road noise too due to the run flat tyres but i have learnt to live with it since they're good driver's car, basically saying you would probably close an eye on this because the car is just generally nicer to drive than the civic and you anyhow can choose to change to a tyre that produces less road noise.
      Actually, if you can afford the 320i comfortably, by all means get that because the driving experience in terms of handling is way superior than the civic, not to say civic isn't a good car but ....you get my meaning.... moreover if the 320i is 2016-2017 that means there's still warranty, just make sure it's still valid and make sure all services were done at BMW service centres. you can also join BMW F30 club on facebook to find out what are the common problems that others face, but that's just a heads up, don't let it scare you from getting a car ya.

    Hi Louis, I'm currently considering between the Honda City and Honda Civic as my first car. I know they are two different segment cars but which will you choose based on both the test drives. Also, do you feel that the City is underpowered as a 1.5 CVT and would it comfortable for daily city drives/good enough for long distance driving? I realized in both reviews you've mentioned about significant road noise, is it worse off on the City/Civic? Appreciate if you could provide some points of consideration. Thanks in advance.

    • @LouisSiah
      @LouisSiah  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Loh Shooks Hi Loh, I'll start off with road noise. I feel that civic's road noise is quite noisy especially in the rear seat during high speed, which I think it's because of the tyres. If I'm not mistaken the tyres are continental mc5 which from my experience creates quite a lot of road noise. I don't feel as noisy in the Honda City somehow even if they're using the same tyres which I'm not sure. Comfort wise, the civic is more comfortable and I would say it's because of the seats, they're quite softt although the honda city isn't too bad anyway. The CVT high revving sound when you accelerate hard like in my video, is quite tolerable in both the City and Civic unlike in the Vios ( which I also have a pov video). It's very loud in the vios when you accelerate hard, if it's a nice sound then it's ok but the problem is it's not.
      My humble opinion on the driving experience, the Civic turbo does have more power obviously but I don't really fancy it because it somehow feels soft/less direct. I prefer driving the Honda City if I have to choose between the two. Maybe I'm just really critical on driving experience but the Civic Turbo does score below average on steering sharpness to me personally. The Honda City somehow feels more well rounded for a car in it's price range. And no, the Honda City doesn't feel underpowered and it's comfort level is decent enough for me. The only reason I would ever choose Civic Turbo is because of the 1.5l turbocharged engine and you're paying rm90 roadtax for that power. I would also consider hyundai ioniq plus(for its features) and mazda 3 hatchback gvc(fun to drive), both around the price range of a Civic.

      If you're referring to a normal quick test drive at a car dealership, you only need your IC and driving license to test drive.

    can I ask u a question?
    after u test drove both civic and Mazda 3 hatch. can u give me ur opinion on the ride comfort , nvh, and overall opinion?
    I am currently split between civic turbo and Mazda 3 gvc
    thx in advance =)

    • @LouisSiah
      @LouisSiah  7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      +ilovedicksucker woah sorry for the late reply. In my humble opinion, the mazda 3 hatchback gvc is definitely the one that's more fun to drive. It is more direct and feels sharper and I particularly like the steering because it has more feedback than the civic. The civic's steering isn't really setup to my liking, it lacks the weight and sharpness compared to civic. NVH on both cars are more or less the same, I don't find one better than the other. Comfort, the seats in the civic are slightly more comfortable as they're softer but both cars are quite equal in comfort to me. Other things worth mentioning, the mazda 3 hatchback actually feels slightly more premium to me in terms of material and fit and finish, it also has slightly better safety features compared to civic.
      Some points of consideration, if you want a fun car, mazda 3 hatchback would be my choice plus it's safety features are actually better. But if fuel consumption & power concerns you then probably civic since it's a 1.5l turbocharged you potentially could get better fuel consumption with civilised driving. Road tax also save quite a bit, and of course civic has a boot compared to hatchback unless you go for the sedan mazda 3.
      At the end both cars are actually quite decent, realistically I would see who can offer me a discount offer I couldn't turn down lol and I'll also do some research on after sales service of both cars and free service is actually a big selling point to me. So those are the things that'll affect my decision if I ever have to choose between mazda 3 hatchback vs civic turbo. Unless you don't really care about those and want my straight up answer which one will I choose, the Mazda 3 Hatchback.

    • @ilovedicksucker736
      @ilovedicksucker736 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thx a lot for ur response. It is very informative and helpful.
      Haha to be honest civic turbo used to be my first pick before i saw this new mazda 3 gvc. Plus the honda civic doesnt even have rain sensing viper =___=, that's my biggest disappointment.
      anyway, thx for ur advice and opinion, this have definitely contribute to my choice as well. I think i will stick with the mazda 3 gvc as well for now until i test drive both.

      Don't believe this mazda fun to drive hype. It's all bs when it comes to day to day usage. Comfort wise mazda 3 not even come close to civic. This civic is more pliant in the corner not to mention on rough patches of our city road. If you want to start a family, civic is the way to go. Its practical interm of size. The roominess can match D segment car. Mazda 3 too cramped with smaller boot. Civic feels more mature and luxury interm of drive quality. NVH is well done. Its quiet inside. But the road noise still there.Mazda you can hear everything. On highway you can hear loud wind noise at 110kmh where you can hear the same noise at 140kmh in civic.You can glide from small to bigger speed bump with no drama. It feels more german conti feeling in civic. In Mazda you can definitely feels it in the cabin. Go drive on LPT and you know what i mean. Of cos on the new smooth road Mazda is comfortable enough, but where to find this kind of road unless you live in kampung where they got new tarmac every 5 years if you know what i mean. The suspension for mazda is stiffer than a civic so you can corner better on the back road.On highway civic is more planted and much more torque and faster than mazda. If you drive a mazda and see a civic behind you better give way. Steering feels mazda better. You can feel the road more than a civic. I like the steering in Mazda as it feels tighter. But civic steering more sharp and quicker. It turns sharper than mazda but the numb steering wheel kills the feeling. Therefore you will feel mazda sportier but of cos if drive back to back in back road of uluyam. On highway civic is much better. Easier to live with.I've been driving Mazda for a month before i make my decision to go for civic. This guy only drove it for a day in front of dealership with SA sat beside him. Don't take his word 100 percent. I hate it when reviewer talking about how sporty the car feels but test drive it on the straight or city road. Its stupid. Unless he do the review on back road cos this civic is the best of both world when it comes to sporty and comfort where Mazda tunes for back road for spirited driving. If later you decide to make your civic sportier you can do so by upgrading the springs and antiroll bar. Its always cheaper and plenty to choose for civic.

    • @kingtamil82
      @kingtamil82 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also think mazda 3 is slightly better after test driving both....but the back space and boot space in the civic is bigger than the mazda...so for those who have to transport families, big groups and stuffs often, that might be the tipping point..

      +Tamilarasan Rajamanickam true about the space. It will ultimately boil down to individual preference. I'll personally prefer the mazda 3 because of the driving experience and the high spec have iActivsense safety features which the civic doesn't. But tbh if I really want to have an affordable car with good safety features I'll go for a ioniq plus which is way better, so the safety features is just a supporting point in the mazda3.

      +Ezadatul Hamdan Good choice my friend! It's a comfortable and powerful car for a 1.5I engine right! Any complains so far?

    but usually we see 1.5 price are cheaper than 1.8. Honda is doing it the reverse way... And i still don't see adaptive cruise in sedan cars in malaysia. They're mostly in crvs which are cheaper than sedans. Given at the current market, adaptive cruise controls are only available for high premium spec sedan on the RM200,000 range price. The price are insane because in many other countries, adaptive cruise controls are beginning to be very common in normal price range sedan cars.And in malaysia, it's not even useful to have more than 1.5 cars. This i believe honda has been clever to see through the market demand. Given the cost for drivers to pay more for road tax and insurance yet majority of our highways are fully congested during working hours. Which means there's no poin t of buying 1.8 to 2.5 variant cars. Unless we're MPs or Royals who have police to open lanes for you to speed.

      Are you sure? 1.8 should be the cheaper one and i checked carlist, 1.8 is still cheaper eh. But i agree with what you said about no use having a higher cc car in Malaysia unless that person always drives outstation. And about the adpative cruise control, there's actually one car that has it, Hyundai Ioniq, and it's 100k car. I believe it's the only car in that price to have that feature. I guess it all falls back to companies wanting to earn more and they use the reason of Malaysia having a higher tax bracket for cars so they reduce the equipment and features to 'make the cars more affordable'. Honestly to put it straight everyone up there and in the companies are just ripping us Malaysians off.

      +bishh bishy yes it's dual exhaust but from a standing position from the rear, you won't be able to see it because it's hidden below. You have to squat down and look up a bit to be able to see it.

    acceleration not impressive....middle range torque also not impressive...need to increase to 2.0 turbo.....for car this weight....

      +M Power I totally agree!! And I actually think it's very strenuous to squeeze out that kind of hp for a 1.5l engine apart from the objective if getting 'good' fuel consumption. Cut it short you're right 2.0 turbo better.

      +Justin Horman yea I had to accommodate the person I was dealing with wasn't fluent in English. Honda vids are the only videos I used Cantonese, the rest are in English. and the Malaysia in the title stands for Malaysian-spec model of the car. Thanks for watching ya!
