The unfortunate part about these odd locations, is that by the time you can get to those areas, you often need far greater quantities or no longer need any. So the odd low random drops are more a curiosity rather than any kind of farming source. It is a nice curiosity, and this is a good video. But I think the typical gathering sites still work better that these oddities.
I think they are not made for resource harvesting at all. Rather, they're made as an early source to get the blueprints. That is because getting the blueprints but not having the resources generally will create a goal to strife upon; to find those resources.
@darkbladenexas surtling farms, mistlands viaducts, any seed method (as seeds multiply yield over time), and a few others are worthwhile and possible to farm as early as spawning in the game if you are clever enough. All of my runs since before Ashlands include getting the karve and an emergency portal and exploring the edge of mistlands islands to farm early iron. The viaducts are structures so you can break with weapons, and once you have a few pieces of iron from them farming them takes minutes, if not seconds.
2:00 And if you want to cheese the entire sealed tower you can kill everything inside with a sledgehammer weapon through the walls. You can hit the walls like 3x before you need to repair all your wooden scaffolding wood around you so you don't fall off the side of the tower. The double boss takes forever if you use this method. So they are better off regular fighting. Also like halfway down the inside of the tower you get a bunch of iron ingots.
Interesting. I've never done that! Smart one. The AOe damage of the hammers sure always does come in handy. And yeah, it's the toughest of the mini bosses without a doubt
It feels like the main reason for these drops is to avoid forcing players to backtrack into non-challenging biomes to farm basic resources, rather than provide ways to acquire them out of order.
about the finewood, i always let a troll destroy the trees for me so i can gather it early game with only the weakest arrows and bow to kill the troll with [same for copper]
Always early on I try to ram birch trees with beech so they fall down, once you've knocked the logs down you can push them into other trees to eventually break them and get fine wood super early. Still rocking rag tunic and I'll have a rested bonus in the 14-16 minute range.
Exactly! Log Rolling is the long time method to get Finewood quickly in the very early part of the game. My favorite strategy is to fall the Birch with the Beech Logs, then roll the harder Birch Logs into each other. Skipping the Crude Bow and going straight to the Finewood Bow is a must!
You can also get iron from those pots in the Ashlands, i dont remember if you can get copper and tin but I wouldnt be suprised if you can. Also Mod Review When?
Kinda sucks because by the time you are able to use these you need a whole lot more quantity wise to do anything with upgrading weapons/base building… but it is a nice bonus. Spazzy never misses great information to have thanks
You dont need stone cutter to get metal from ruins. Heck all you need is a bronze boat and stagbreaker. You can get iron and this special stone that way by bruteforce destroying a building.
Skip if man. I cover a topic and when I'm done I end the video. Would you rather I drag it out 5 minutes longer so the ad is proportionally less of the video?
lol seems pointless tho cause by the time you get to these areas you will no longer need the said resources. valheim i have found has absolutely 0 need to go back to materials once you progress past certain points in the game.
Are you alright pal? Have u had a bad day? Ads are skippable and u should in fact appreciate that Spaz compressed what could have been a long video of even 15 minutes of tips into 9 minutes, for he will get less precious watch time just for the viewer's pleasure. If u really sacrifice a full video full of information for a promotional ad (which is btw skippable) then u are the one missing out...
@VraixSVP Oh yeah I am absolutely fine. Just fed up of paid promotions, let's take this one as a prime example... I clicked the vid to watch valheim tips, not to get a 2 min promo for some other game, I would rather watch a 15 min long vid of his tips about valheim instead of a ''compressed'' vid. To be clear, no issue with an advert, they can be skipped after 5 seconds, I am highlighting the PAID PROMOTION this fella has put on his vid, 2 mins on a 9 min vid is too much.

Totally agree. All of these are interesting but admittedly you likely would never use any of them as viable farms for the resources.
@@SpazzyjonesGaming surtling core farm is a exception though
@darkbladenexas a couple of exceptions in there I think including that one

Yeah it Certainly could be
A 2 minute sponsored segment on a less than 10 minute video is devious.
You can skip it. Would you rather I drag it out?
Bro great video! I will add that I do believe that you have to reel the fish in the whole way to have a chance at the extra resources
glad you liked it! You might be right about the bonus resources, thats a really good point
I discovered the iron ore from fishing when I made the fishing hat, was like… what??!
Super unexpected isn't it haha

You sure can ! And doing right by kenboi! I love it!
You also get silver.
Very informative. Thank you!
You're welcome!
The brazers in the ice caves are good for a rested bonus and you can get iron from the wood doors and bronze from destroying the braziers.
Yes
Very nice editing. Time advance scenes. Smooth transitions. Impressive editing skills.
Appreciate it!
Bronze scrap can be yielded by tearing down the sharp metal nails protecting the charred fortresses. Sledgehammers can do this work.
Yes ! Someone mentioned that earlier too. Thanks for calling it out. I learn lots from the viewers of my videos

Spazzy never misses great information to have thanks
Yeah I totally agree, these are more of a bonus resource and not a viable way to farm
You can also get “bronze scrap” when you break the spikes on a fortress wall or tower in the Ashlands. I found out by accident.
yes! a few people have pointed that out. thanks!
Another way to get finewood is to roll logs into the birth tree ... it is not immune to that damage
Yep
Oh man i never knew you could chair glitch into sealed towers! Im terrible at getting to the top
Glad I could help!
Surtling cores also can be obtained in dvergrs settlements. Just destroy wards 😊
Yes good point!
Let's be real, non of us actually chop trees for ancient bark, we just get them while grinding for iron. (Painage)
yeah you get a lot from chests

A lot less efficient
@@SpazzyjonesGaming Yeah, but as soon as you get your 1.st piece of metal you can use stonecutter.
This is troll armor character in mistlands :P
Hey bro, let’s go search for another Swamp! I need more leather scraps!
Lol really
2 minute ad in a 10 minute video is wild.
so sorry

imma cheat even more and enable ore through portals
that is your right!

Oh yeah. It won't replace the normal way of getting the resources but can be useful in a pinch
I thought this was a Valheim video, goes on for about 2 minutes talking about a different game
Skip the ad if you don't want to watch it. It's not hard :)
sponsorships followed by ads. no video to see here

bad video.
