  • This Powerbook came in for a recap and got the full treatment. We recapped the LCD controller and inverter. This was it's final power on test.

    Some notes on this system:
    - Came in for a recap, every capacitor was caked to the board.
    - Mouse, CPU card, LCD driver, LCD inverter and logic board all recapped
    - LCD driver was a nasty experience to clean up, not easy either.
    - Desoldered and resoldered the power jack, SCSI and Floppy connectors.

Amazing job, looks mint. I've also restored mine but I may have missed a few things.
    1) The PRAM circuit doesn't work and settings are always lost regardless of the state of the cell batteries, the moment it's unplugged. Any ideas? The main lead acid battery is long gone.
    2) The backlight spills onto the screen at the edges and is very disctracting. Yours doesn't seem to have this problem. Is there a way to seal the gap somehow to mask it out?
    3) The contrast (left) and black light dials don't seem to work that well. The range on the contrast seems too high and black light isn't very stable/smooth when it's adjusted. But I'm pretty sure I replaced the two caps on the board the back light is connected too, back in 2015.
