I got so used to hearing Ray's voice commentating Rugby League over the years that when someone else commentates, it just doesn't sound & feel right. He always had a way with words that definitely made my imagination run wild as though I was at the game live. I know for sure theres plenty people who would of had an opportunity to go watch a state of origin game but decided to stay home and watch it, purely just so they could hear rabs commentate it.
Never ever liked his commentary,in fact sick of all commentators.....why can't they call it like a horse race....call as it happens and unfold....not repeat,glamourised or biasly add your 2 cents....the best commentaries are those on the radio,who know the listeners are blind and want to hear only about the game,so they call it as such,instead of ego-maniacal ulterior motive commentary for personal gain and recognition.....a la over-paid and over-rated,so called media sport personalities

@@Fuckthesystem-ro5wm radio callers have to call,by discription,play by play,as it unfolds,for a listener to visualise....there call has less fake media personalities opinions and over the top Jim Carrey theatrics, trying too hard for climactic tackles and tries,wasting time with repeated player profiles,etc....radio hasn't the time for that,they understand the listener can't see and can't waste the allocated time slot,so they call more of the ACTUAL game,which I perfer,then your bumboy,idol commentators!
