The number one issue ive seen is people trying to dogfight in the f-15 with their drop tanks still on, its in the name lol, the second you get into a fight you need to drop those tanks and get your full manuverability.
Yeah, and taking only 20min internal fuel is very important. I’ve also noticed that the center fuel tank doesn’t impact manoeuvrability that much unlike the wing mounted ones which decrease roll rate a lot.

Any radar missile, hug the ground or notch+chaff if you are high altitude. For IR missiles with gatewidth IRCCM like R-73, R;27ET, Magics, cut burner, turn slightly towards the missile and flare and avoid getting launched at below 1.5 km and rear aspect. For Suspension type IRCCM (AAM-3, AIM-9M) Flare then change direction
5:30 This is my gripe with the Flanker. If the 9-13 had R-73s I'd be flying it over the Su-27 right now. Also, fun fact - the flanker we got can't carry the R-77, get ready to grind a 2nd one next patch.
At some point on the dev server, AAM3's had the same IRCCM as stingers and type 91's so they were essentially unflarable once they got their lock. I assume this has changed but I havent fought a single f-15J yet so I dont know for sure

Defyn quickly responds by denying him, instead forcing a two circle vertical spiral as he of course knows that delta wing relies on cashing in potential energy for nose position. By forcing the two circle fight the J8F was already dead as he over committed and never had a chance to begin with. He then quickly and mercilessly whoops his ass. Beautiful.
Hey Defyn I don't know if you're unaware of this or just intentionally not using it but the F-15 has a Vertical Scan auto-acquisition (dogfight) mode, just change radar modes while you're in the first dogfight mode. It's very useful in a turning fight
Also I’d be interested in a video on positioning/match start in top tier jets. I’ve only recently gotten to top tier but I don’t know how to do anything other than braindead fly left deck hugging coin flip at match start, and content creators (reasonably) cut out the beginning of the matches.

i dont know about the team, but tonight 1 got 10 defeat in a row, and overal win rate ratio on my f15j only 36%, my team always blow up instantly when they reach the middle of the map
Now having the F15 I find the best dogfight speed is around 400-500 mph and the difference between 300mph and 400 mph when turning is evident as in 400 mph it turns really well but below that it turns into a brick sometimes
The aam3 should be a lot better i think they will get buffs as the game goes on. aam3 should be the best non trust vectoring ir missile irl compareble to aim9m-8 and python 4

It never used them, shit pretty sure saaf retired their radar missiles after the cheetah for the most part, and it could have R-darters instead as well if they want it to have radar missiles
the only thing they are bad at are combination of their radar and 7M. For some reason they keep loosing track of enemy (for a reason I am not aware of, even the easiest of shots), or 7M decides to explode after 1km even if I had a stable lock.
On the bigger maps I had a fun time and best time slinging aim7ms and AAM3s in mach 2 since the airframe just accelerates, but you cant so it with most maps since by the time i hit 12k meters the enemy is already close enough to fire R27s

The Su-27 is just a better 29, more missiles and better flight performance. The SMT has a better radar yes but you only get 2 ERs to take advantage of that vs 4. The 27 is just a better 29 no reason to go back.
The Problem with the Su-27 is that Gaijin made the Automatic Flaps none toggle able meaning every time you turn you lose energy because of a feature you have no control over. On top of that the Su-27 Wing Slats Extends 30 Degrees, which is meant for landing, not turning, overall the Flanker would be performing slightly better then an F-15A, Gaijin just messed up the wing configuration implementation. (There is already a bug report under way for this btw) The Flanker still beats the Mig-29s Either Way.
@@Asian_Titan IRL, the flanker doesn't even give the f-15 a chance in dogfight. If you are interested, read about the training battles between the F-15 and the Su-27 in 1992 at Langley Air Force Base
as is they're just copy pasted 9Ls with slightly less drag, so they don't pull close to the 40g advertised. So I imagine they'll get buffed if they think it needs it
Su-27 flight performance is far from the best, sure, but in top tier you don't dogfight that often anyway because of short matches and i think that for now it's the easiest plane to get a lot of kills because of that insane missle set, it just fits the meta perfectly xD
The F15 and F16 are both optimized for high altitude.The F16 could be used in a anti-satellite mission by flying up in an arc as high as possible to launch a special missile. Because of this they are not going to perform at their best at the quick low altitude engagements in Air RB and may seem lacking compared to real life. Navy aircraft are in general optimized for sea level and peform at their best on the deck. Any plane with a low altitude top speed is at a advantage in Warthunder. This will become really obvious once the F-18 is in the game.
people aren't complaining about the F15s flight performance because of its first turn or ability to take advantage of BFM mistakes, they're complaining because its rate speed is really bad compared to everything else at 12.3, which it shouldn't be. It should be able to rip around a circle at 0.9. It's still a lot better than most people think it is, but that's more down to its much greater ability to maintain standoff than other aircraft than its ability to point its nose for one turn. @@sule.A it's not a question of *what* it should rate with, that's a very naive way of thinking about aircraft performance. different aircraft rate differently at different airspeeds. An F16 for example is going to rate better than a tomcat if they're both at 450 knots, but worse if they're both at 300 knots. what I'm talking about is it's ability to sustain its speed while performing a consistent sustained turn rate at near mach, which, the last time I flew it, was subject to a lot of high speed compression until it went down to below mach 0.8, by which point it can just dump all of its airspeed for nose authority which it should be able to do to some extent, but the way it's represented in game makes it basically the primary tactic, which eagle drivers in real life usually talked about keeping the jet fast (in guns only situations basically dueling i think u kids call it) It's high thrust to weight should give it far more endurance in sustaining its airspeed than what we see in game
9:52, maybe you should be worried about the JA37, I got a 7-kill match in a full uptier to 12.3 when I was researching the Gripen the other day. When the guns and the Skyflash decide to work, you can get alot of work done with the Viggen.

Pretty much. The F-15A feels like a UFO with how absurd the thrust to weight ratio is. You can literally accelerate on a high angle climb with fuel tanks and bombs lmao. The F-15 is a Mustang to the Su-27's A6M Zero. You just abuse your ridiculous energy and thrust advantage and dance around everyone
@@pikaachoo3888I'd argue the Su-27 ain't even a Zero. It's more like dogfighting in an IL-2. You get 1 decent turn before you fall out of the sky, but in that one turn you have firepower for days. As long as people use their 2 braincells you are dead--otherwise it's back to the hangar for them.

Try to put a few teammates between you and the enemy. Usually the majority of players go left after taking off from their airfield. So stay somewhat left or right of the gaggle of teammates and just pick off people who try to fight them.
Defyn have you noticed the aim 7ms acting a little wonky? Sometimes when i fire them at altitude, they either fly straight and explode or curve towards the stratosphere, all while maintaining a solid PD HDN lock
I call bs incrimental gains on a missle that heavily relies on being a stealthy off bore suprise means alot more than it would on the L in most pub engagements alone. Just bc the 9m can already pull fairly hard with the right lead and distance rediculous 4km stealth missle compared to the worse drag 9L makes the aam3 look alot better
Speed is the key to the F-15s success, it just needs help with bvr, no reason one nation should have a missle kit that goes mach 5.8 to "2nd best aim7" at mach 4.0, its actually feels like a joke for any other nation as of right now, don't get me started with the tanks either lmfao
"chaff is actually effective" lmao, I just rage quit from flying the F-15A because I can't do jack against R-27s or R-73s. Chaff and flares just straight up aren't working. The moment they see me I'm dead, doesn't matter if I'm heads up, flying at a 90 degree angle from them, or heading away, and altitude and maneuvering doesn't work. Meanwhile they sneeze and defeat my Sparrows and 9Ms.
i agree on the su-27, out of all my top tier jets and i am above average in terms of stats in most my stuff the su 27 is by far the plane i preform the worst in, i litterly play twice as good in the mig 29 smt and f16's

When I said the Su-27 FM is mid all I get met with is 'skill issue'. When DEFYN says the FM is bad he praised as a truth harbinger. But seriously though, the Su-27 is only so bad because Gaijin is so stupid they gave it an Oswald coefficient of now 0.47 when IRL it's around ~0.71 meanwhile the F-15 gets enjoy a massive buffed one of 0.66. Oswald coefficient is how much drag it induces, so they gave the Su-27 almost the same unrealistic and bullshittingly low coefficient the SMT has. That is why the FM sucks, Gaijin will implement it according to manual data and then just fuck up it's Oswald coefficient and kill it's performance and then deny any bug reports on this because the value is 'datamined'
I haven't been able to figure it out so I gotta ask, how do I get the probability of kill indicator over the radar? Is there something special to do or what
When you actually play a proper BVR, climb and get up to speed, 7M can easily do 50km hits. Is it statistically not as good as a 27ER? Maybe, but in this update, Ive died once to a 27er from a Su-27 at a BVR fight. Something like F-15J, played correctly can absolutely mop the floor with the enemy team. Most people dont have enough skill to give good opinion. They can't distinguish being bad, from a bad jet
Are you climbing off the runway for BVR at the beginning of matches instead of deck hugging? I keep getting skill issued when I try climbing at match start

@@commander843 yes, if someone is really experienced and know how to defeat a 7M, you wont get a kill above 30km range. I had some crazy kills, when even tho guy went straight to the ground, Missile was so fast it was able to hit him, and it was a over 40km shot

Does the f15aj have a better radar than the f16c? Whenever I go to use my radar missiles it gives me a narrow view with only a 9km range. I see that in these clips he can lock on from afar and has a wider view with his radar
I think calling the Su27 a bus is a bit of a far reach, yes it doesn't out turn an F15, but having HMD and the ability to sling off 4-6 r73's. makes it a more than formidable opponent in a dogfight. I'd take the su27 with 4 r73's with normal fuel over an F15 with AAM 3's all day in a dogfight. The F15 can fore certain turn better, and energy trap it, buuuuut, you can't flare the R73 at super short range due to the way the IRCCM works on that thing, and you can't argue against the fact that it does one turn like a mean motherfucker. I'm no SU27 fanboy, in fact it's one of the lest interesting jets this patch for me personally, but calling it a missile bus and no more, is just wrong. Any decent pilot with a good amount of games and some dogfighting skill, will give the F15 a run for its money in a dogfight, but it is limited to the fact that it needs to have R73's on hand to really make it interesting.
If you merge right the su27 will at best get to fire one r73 at you which you can easily pre flare In a dogfight the su27 is absolutely nowhere vs the entire lineup
Su-27 has a MiG-21 F13 flight model right now. It's a one turn plane that loses the one turn against basically everything in the game. The only reason people have issues with it is because they're at like 1500 meters getting R-27ER'd or they don't have the awareness to preflare an R-73 or R-27ET. A thousand times it's been said--good guns (or missiles in this case) doesn't make a plane good. It takes a combination of things.
@DEFYN yeah, from what ive gathered, Gaijin is using a far too low oswalds coefficient or whatever its called that essentially is how they measure energy retention. Iirc its in the mid-upper 0.40s on the su 27 when really test data estimates it at 0.7-0.75
@@DEFYN you’re not entirely wrong for sure. But the fact of the matter is, nobody really seems to preflare in top tier for some reason. And right now the matches are so heavily scued towards the SU27 playstile and teams, that it actually manages really well. Another thing is, if you gp into a squad of 2 or more of those things, they become really dangerous. But yes, against a skillfull player, the su27 is the second worst top tier jet. Just better than the mig29smt 😂
They both pull the same and they’re both fast and have range, but the Aam3 is better in a few areas. It has ECCM, it turns immediately off the rail, and it’s smokeless (which is very useful in ground rb and sim)
I do believe that maneuver at 2:55 was actually a sideways 3 horizontal scissors trapezoid (with extra sauce) and not just a 1 circle.

I would like it along with real fuel time left but for now you can also look at engine temps to check afterburner stage too

the only thing they are bad at are combination of their radar and 7M. For some reason they keep loosing track of enemy (for a reason I am not aware of, even the easiest of shots), or 7M decides to explode after 1km even if I had a stable lock.

On the bigger maps I had a fun time and best time slinging aim7ms and AAM3s in mach 2 since the airframe just accelerates, but you cant so it with most maps since by the time i hit 12k meters the enemy is already close enough to fire R27s

The Su-27 is just a better 29, more missiles and better flight performance. The SMT has a better radar yes but you only get 2 ERs to take advantage of that vs 4. The 27 is just a better 29 no reason to go back.

The Problem with the Su-27 is that Gaijin made the Automatic Flaps none toggle able meaning every time you turn you lose energy because of a feature you have no control over.
On top of that the Su-27 Wing Slats Extends 30 Degrees, which is meant for landing, not turning, overall the Flanker would be performing slightly better then an F-15A, Gaijin just messed up the wing configuration implementation. (There is already a bug report under way for this btw)
The Flanker still beats the Mig-29s Either Way.

Su-27 flight performance is far from the best, sure, but in top tier you don't dogfight that often anyway because of short matches and i think that for now it's the easiest plane to get a lot of kills because of that insane missle set, it just fits the meta perfectly xD
I hate flying it. Yes, its missiles are amazing, but flight performance is horrible. I lose almost every dog fight, especially with f 15 and the m4k.
The F15 and F16 are both optimized for high altitude.The F16 could be used in a anti-satellite mission by flying up in an arc as high as possible to launch a special missile.
Because of this they are not going to perform at their best at the quick low altitude engagements in Air RB and may seem lacking compared to real life. Navy aircraft are in general optimized for sea level and peform at their best on the deck. Any plane with a low altitude top speed is at a advantage in Warthunder. This will become really obvious once the F-18 is in the game.

people aren't complaining about the F15s flight performance because of its first turn or ability to take advantage of BFM mistakes, they're complaining because its rate speed is really bad compared to everything else at 12.3, which it shouldn't be. It should be able to rip around a circle at 0.9. It's still a lot better than most people think it is, but that's more down to its much greater ability to maintain standoff than other aircraft than its ability to point its nose for one turn.

@@sule.A it's not a question of *what* it should rate with, that's a very naive way of thinking about aircraft performance. different aircraft rate differently at different airspeeds. An F16 for example is going to rate better than a tomcat if they're both at 450 knots, but worse if they're both at 300 knots. what I'm talking about is it's ability to sustain its speed while performing a consistent sustained turn rate at near mach, which, the last time I flew it, was subject to a lot of high speed compression until it went down to below mach 0.8, by which point it can just dump all of its airspeed for nose authority which it should be able to do to some extent, but the way it's represented in game makes it basically the primary tactic, which eagle drivers in real life usually talked about keeping the jet fast (in guns only situations basically dueling i think u kids call it) It's high thrust to weight should give it far more endurance in sustaining its airspeed than what we see in game

Try to put a few teammates between you and the enemy. Usually the majority of players go left after taking off from their airfield. So stay somewhat left or right of the gaggle of teammates and just pick off people who try to fight them.
Only Nation I have at top tier atm is Japan, so im trying to enjoy this plane. Prob last new one Ill see until F-35 in 8 years

Defyn have you noticed the aim 7ms acting a little wonky? Sometimes when i fire them at altitude, they either fly straight and explode or curve towards the stratosphere, all while maintaining a solid PD HDN lock
the su27 airframe is really good if you use the sim control it the same lvl as the gripen when it comes to turn
yeah thats what ive heard, the flight model is really good, but you basically have to use full sim with a Hotas to actually use it.
I call bs incrimental gains on a missle that heavily relies on being a stealthy off bore suprise means alot more than it would on the L in most pub engagements alone. Just bc the 9m can already pull fairly hard with the right lead and distance rediculous 4km stealth missle compared to the worse drag 9L makes the aam3 look alot better
Speed is the key to the F-15s success, it just needs help with bvr, no reason one nation should have a missle kit that goes mach 5.8 to "2nd best aim7" at mach 4.0, its actually feels like a joke for any other nation as of right now, don't get me started with the tanks either lmfao

i'm so pissed that i grinded the whole russian tech tree looking for a dogfighter in the su 27 and just got a missile boat with a boatesque airframe
"chaff is actually effective" lmao, I just rage quit from flying the F-15A because I can't do jack against R-27s or R-73s. Chaff and flares just straight up aren't working. The moment they see me I'm dead, doesn't matter if I'm heads up, flying at a 90 degree angle from them, or heading away, and altitude and maneuvering doesn't work. Meanwhile they sneeze and defeat my Sparrows and 9Ms.
I always wonder if all Defyn's crew for top tier are improved above the limit.

i agree on the su-27, out of all my top tier jets and i am above average in terms of stats in most my stuff the su 27 is by far the plane i preform the worst in, i litterly play twice as good in the mig 29 smt and f16's
i went to play P-51H , Bf 109 K-4, F8F.... that BR is balanced and peaceful. No radar, no imbalance. It's sad how Air RB is so bad after 8.3

Why do I hear Zero playing in the back of my mind?
When I said the Su-27 FM is mid all I get met with is 'skill issue'. When DEFYN says the FM is bad he praised as a truth harbinger. But seriously though, the Su-27 is only so bad because Gaijin is so stupid they gave it an Oswald coefficient of now 0.47 when IRL it's around ~0.71 meanwhile the F-15 gets enjoy a massive buffed one of 0.66. Oswald coefficient is how much drag it induces, so they gave the Su-27 almost the same unrealistic and bullshittingly low coefficient the SMT has. That is why the FM sucks, Gaijin will implement it according to manual data and then just fuck up it's Oswald coefficient and kill it's performance and then deny any bug reports on this because the value is 'datamined'
I haven't been able to figure it out so I gotta ask, how do I get the probability of kill indicator over the radar? Is there something special to do or what
When you actually play a proper BVR, climb and get up to speed, 7M can easily do 50km hits. Is it statistically not as good as a 27ER? Maybe, but in this update, Ive died once to a 27er from a Su-27 at a BVR fight. Something like F-15J, played correctly can absolutely mop the floor with the enemy team. Most people dont have enough skill to give good opinion. They can't distinguish being bad, from a bad jet
Are you climbing off the runway for BVR at the beginning of matches instead of deck hugging? I keep getting skill issued when I try climbing at match start
Sparrows can only get a bar kill if the enemy is absolutely oblivious, because they are SO easy to hitch

@@commander843 yes, if someone is really experienced and know how to defeat a 7M, you wont get a kill above 30km range. I had some crazy kills, when even tho guy went straight to the ground, Missile was so fast it was able to hit him, and it was a over 40km shot

Does the f15aj have a better radar than the f16c? Whenever I go to use my radar missiles it gives me a narrow view with only a 9km range. I see that in these clips he can lock on from afar and has a wider view with his radar
I think calling the Su27 a bus is a bit of a far reach, yes it doesn't out turn an F15, but having HMD and the ability to sling off 4-6 r73's. makes it a more than formidable opponent in a dogfight. I'd take the su27 with 4 r73's with normal fuel over an F15 with AAM 3's all day in a dogfight. The F15 can fore certain turn better, and energy trap it, buuuuut, you can't flare the R73 at super short range due to the way the IRCCM works on that thing, and you can't argue against the fact that it does one turn like a mean motherfucker. I'm no SU27 fanboy, in fact it's one of the lest interesting jets this patch for me personally, but calling it a missile bus and no more, is just wrong. Any decent pilot with a good amount of games and some dogfighting skill, will give the F15 a run for its money in a dogfight, but it is limited to the fact that it needs to have R73's on hand to really make it interesting.
If you merge right the su27 will at best get to fire one r73 at you which you can easily pre flare
In a dogfight the su27 is absolutely nowhere vs the entire lineup
Su-27 has a MiG-21 F13 flight model right now. It's a one turn plane that loses the one turn against basically everything in the game. The only reason people have issues with it is because they're at like 1500 meters getting R-27ER'd or they don't have the awareness to preflare an R-73 or R-27ET. A thousand times it's been said--good guns (or missiles in this case) doesn't make a plane good. It takes a combination of things.
@DEFYN yeah, from what ive gathered, Gaijin is using a far too low oswalds coefficient or whatever its called that essentially is how they measure energy retention. Iirc its in the mid-upper 0.40s on the su 27 when really test data estimates it at 0.7-0.75
@@DEFYN you’re not entirely wrong for sure. But the fact of the matter is, nobody really seems to preflare in top tier for some reason. And right now the matches are so heavily scued towards the SU27 playstile and teams, that it actually manages really well. Another thing is, if you gp into a squad of 2 or more of those things, they become really dangerous.
But yes, against a skillfull player, the su27 is the second worst top tier jet. Just better than the mig29smt 😂

They both pull the same and they’re both fast and have range, but the Aam3 is better in a few areas.
It has ECCM, it turns immediately off the rail, and it’s smokeless (which is very useful in ground rb and sim)
