this thing could definitely have a foldered version/modification that gives it some AAMs, and it's historical too, since Yak-28Ps were fitted with R-3s and R-9s
Why make a separate plane? They can make it a modification like the BMP-1P is a modification for the BMP-1 (it replaces the ATGM).

There is an interceptor variant of the Yak-28 with missiles. We only have the bomber variant in game.
Have you played with AIM-9B or R-3S in the game? Now that I've tried them I understand what I read in the '90s about those missiles: They require the full cooperation of the target.
Now imagine the Yak-28P has a couple of missile choices; One is the R-3S and one is worse. And there's no gun.
I would take it on test flights. I could see Defyn getting 3 kills with his 2 missiles. But for most players, most of the time, it would be terrible.
You apologize for this being "drawn out" but really I think this video does a great job of showing some great energy fighting techniques. It's not super fast paced so you can see the techniques play out clearly along with plenty of time for you to explain exactly what is happening.

@@DEFYNI have to imagine it's a struggle that creators have. Choosing between helpful, informative videos that get a low number of views or flashy explosive video that's more appealing to the masses.
Either way they're missing out and now I feel a lot better equipped to deal with delta wing aircraft in my F-5E (have a couple hundred missions in F-15A and F-16A but the F-5E is still my favorite aircraft/BR range)

The Yak-28P would be a fun addition to warthunder. Despite it having no guns, it does have two very basic SARH/IR missiles and two R-3S missiles. It features the R-98 missile, which is either SARH or IR guided, but for what was effectively a very crude missile, it has suprisingly, IRCCM capabilities, as it uses the seeker of the strela-1.

@@stevenvaughn8431 No, there's no radar lead indicator on the J35A. But it does have a radar that doesn't really do a whole lot in RB.

The interceptor version of this plane would be so fun if they added it, the yak 28 is one of my favorite planes.
The Q-5A does this job better I guess? At least it has 2 NR-23s with 120 rpg. Same excellent energy retention and generation, slightly worse max. speed but you wont need it anyway. Have a try

The most known thing about this plane is the song "The Vast Sky" - it is beautiful to fly on this plane, but deadly for yourself) Tbh, the best plane for fast getting "Kraken" achievement in sim battles.
The f3h is so sad, what makes it even worse is it often faces planes like the mig 21 SMT since it has no flares if I shoot an r60 in the right situation he cannot do anything

Used to grind a lot of the old soviet top tier with it (when the 23MLD was the top vehicle).
And yeah, things i hated the most.. the gun and the lack of airbrakes to get it into speeds where it doesnt compress like hell quickly when needed

There is an interceptor variant of this thing with missiles, not sure if it’ll go any better since I don’t think that one has a gun.
Such a cool and unique looking plane.
Bombers can be surprisingly deadly simply because nobody expects them to go fighter mode.
Of course, for experienced fighter players it is but a minor inconvenience, but flown right you can stave off the inevitable for a little bit.

There's truly no proper way to play the Yakovlev Yak-28B Brewer for the bombsight is arse, the bombspread is arse, the bomb delay upon release is arse, the cannon is arse the bloody bombs cannot destroy a bloody bombing point in one bloody pass unlike a lot of fighters can.
Only two redeeming factors the engines so you can go mack jesus above 3000 metres & the cockpit is lovely.
If my conviction & confidence was as grand as yours I would play this poxy aircraft as a stopgap heavy fighter over having a 70% miss rate for bombing in over 150 matches.
It's genuinely baffling that this thing is in the game at all. It's a bomber that is worse than even a good portion of the fighters at its br. It's so bafflingly useless.
Really wanna see the last varient folded under the current one, the Yak-28P could get R-98Ms and AA-2s. No clue if it had a gun or bombs avaliable but the missiles would be neat.

Can't you turn tighter with no afterburner on ? I mean everybody does this , but it makes no sense to me . Or after you stall them out , you turn or loop faster with no afterburner ?
I do this with props , throttle down right before the highest point . This let you point your nose down faster , at least it feels so . I never played jets with afterburners btw.
