First Star Wars horror, then Star Wars Psycho Thriller, Now Star Wars espionage. Oh yeah. Disney sure couldn't find any Star Wars material.
Espionage is front and center during the most excellent story in swtor for the imperial agent. Bonus points for being an empire protagonist.
Now? The Sentinels and Watchmen were first introduced in KOTOR2, LONG before Disney acquired Star Wars. :) Shadows were a subclass of Consular introduced with SWTOR, again, long before Disney corrupted the Force.

I find it interesting that sidius was afraid of Jedi that weren’t that powerful in lightsaber combat with also a group of inquisitors hunting them during that time. Dude sounds super paranoid at this point

So, in a way, this is going to just be me reworking a vaguely related complaint from RPGs, but have you ever played D&D?in the various Star Wars D20 stuff, the Emperor is obviously a high-end to max-level character, with a literal heap of hit points/health. In the film, a single lightsaber attack could impale, or even decapitate, him, but in a game, you have to whittle down his health bar, and he could easily survive even the fall damage that proceeded his fate slam, in RotJ. I used to like to joke that the only probable way to assassinate the Emperor would be to wait for him to board his shuttle, let it get into space, and then blow IT up, because the Lambda Shuttle had less health than Palpatine did, and was easier to score a hit on.😊
I like to think this is much the same. Palpatine wasn't necessarily scared of what the Sentinels could do to HIM, but to his Empire he couldn't be everywhere to protect. They seemed to have many of the "other" skills the Sith picked up, over a thousand years in hiding, and Sidious, of all people, could appreciate the dangers of fighting an enemy who had become entirely different from the norm one-way accustomed to dealing with.
I find it annoying that so many SW channels make all these videos about "the only ... that Sidious feared." They do it because it attracts attention, but it's really, really innacurate. Sidious was not afraid of all these various subjects in these videos. He was so far beyond them, and even considering what they could do besides fighting him personally, it still doesn't make sense. The man didn't get to the point he did by being scared.
The ONLY one I somewhat agreed with was the video about QuiGon. Sidious didn't fear him in terms of power or combat, but he was concerned, possibly even fearful, of what Qui Gon could cause or lead the Jedi to evolving into. Or in Anakin's case, concern over Qui Gon teaching Anakin.
But besides Qui Gon, I'm sorry, I'm calling complete BS on Sidious being scared of any of these others. At best, he was cautious and mindful of the various threats he could face, but that's not fear.
I respect and like Stupendous Wave, so please don't misinterpet this as me attacking him. It's a GREAT channel, but the "Sidious being afraid of" or "the only being stronger than Sidious" videos are vastly misleading.

Would you be interested in a story about a Temple Guardian that survived Operation Knightfall but died during the Purge? A view of the fall of the temple from the Jedi's perspective?
If that is really what happened to the shadow, then they wear weak minded. A true shadow sentinel would know how to hide, and where to hide.
Well, I definitely would love to see Sentinels described in future novels, but there is one reality check: there will be no good future novels. The Expanded Universe is not a canon anymore, so it is not clear if Sentinels even exist in the Disney Star Wars. Also, every author who would try to revive the past canon and receive some compensation will be sued by Disney. I think this situation will remain, at least for the next dozen years, and after that… I am not sure Star Wars will be relevant anymore.

A good way to do a Sentinel/Shadow story where they eventually fall to the Dark Side, would be to look at how the main character of Spec Ops The Line gradually falls into insanity.
While it's not obvious at the beginning, or even necessarily the middle of the story, if you're observant, the loading screens between missions would go from useful tips for gameplay, to interesting trivia on the Force, to historical facts and quotes from previous Dark Side users to the game breaking the 4th wall and asking the player if the path of the Jedi was really the correct path, to outright goading the player to use more Dark Side techniques and taunting them for using Light Side ones. All the while, in the game, your character is given the illusion of choice by picking "lesser" evils, or forcing the Jedi into a corner to either defend themself or preemptively take enemies out en-masse to progress, and to make the player do this multiple times throughout the campaign.
Yes, it's been done before, obviously, but it works oh-so well with a Jedi class that sees things in black and white.

I have a Jawa Jedi oc I have thought of as a Sentinel. And post order 66 he integrated to live with off world Jawas for some time. Was trained on Naboo a long ago eventually returning during the reign of the empire; figuring that was the last place the sith would think to search for him. And post empire he befriends Jarjar and lives a quiet good life.

Sounds to me from his set of skills and way of thinking, if Qigon or Dooku (light side) had taught Anakin,
or if Padme wasn't in such a bind so fast, Anakin himself might have walked down the path of sentinel (whether successfully or not),
...that might have made Palpatine visibly nervous like Anakin's reveal did to Plagueis xD.
It would be cool to see Luthen Rael revealed as a Shadow and a reason he was able to make his plan and why he said what he said to his mole in Coruscant. He must go into the dark to bring the light like a Jedi Shadow.
Man the Jedi sentinel class would make for a very cool game. Only if it's done right.

I could see a story with some of them being made into the Knights of Ren, and/or guardians of Exegol. Just anything to make the sequel trilogy feel less like a “punt” effort.
dumbing down Jedi to 3 classes was gaming mechanic necessity - I never encountered such distinction in other sources (correct me if you did)... Obi Wan could be considered Guardian in his glory days, but his life on Tatooine might be easily qualified as Sentinel

Whenever I start up a new playthrough of KOTOR I always pick Sentinel.
I have a Sith OC that started out as a Jedi Shadow but became a Sith Lord after being stranded on Korriban and tortured psychologically by Sith Spirits
It was my understanding that the sentinels were as they were because they were typically found later in life and as such were often already apart of conventional society, or maybe that was only after the fall of the empire, been a while since I read that book.
I wonder if Palpatine has ever faced the Jedi that’s not scared to use a blaster+ Tràkata even if he was more powerful and could win I feel like it would take him by surprise at first there’s something I love about Jedi that aren’t afraid to go controversial
I like Jedi Shadows. We need show or movie about them. They are really tragic figures. We can imagine what lone Jedi Shadow felt. How betrayed,lot he was. Great holocron. May the Force be with you too😊

I don’t want Disney to touch any of this until they turn their writing room around.
Imagine all those sentinels/shadows taken out being just tip of the iceberg with the rest going into deep cover. Their success was a side effect of developing paranoia for years.
This is a fertile ground to be explored in Kenobi Season 2, a whole separate series or movie, or a way to integrate a new classification back into the Star Wars universe via Sabien Wren and Ezra Bridger.
Seems IF Palpatine had nightmares it would be about being ambushed an overwhelmed by so many Sentinels and Shadows that served Order 66 that not even Vader an most of his most powerful minions like Inquisitors an Royal Guard too could even at same time take them on an then they end both him an the Sith Legacy... imagine being some equivalent of Palpatine's butler and having to wake him up "from that nightmare again..."

Too bad the Jedi Slicers weren’t involved with the clone army from the beginning, they could have spotted order 66 in the inhibitor chips and stopped it.
They were, though their numbers were almost down to nothing at that time.
