Hi Meg, I’m so pleased you found my video and that it was helpful. The little heads can be super tricky plus getting the ears the right way round! I’ve lots more Luna related videos gif you to enjoy. Happy stitching 🥰
You are very welcome Shelley! I do have more videos planned on Luna and her friends so please subscribe (if you haven't already) and that way you'll be notified as I upload more videos. I also quilt, appliqué and cross-stitch so there's plenty to share :)
I'm so pleased you enjoyed it. If you haven't seen them already I have a series of videos on how to sew a Luna by machine, starting at how to choose the fabric and remembering to 'mirror' some of your pattern pieces. Let me know how you get on with your Luna. Have a great day! 🥰
Hi Grace, I'm so pleased you enjoyed the video. Just bear in mind that I made my Luna in this video from quilting cotton and not from felt, so take it carefully as the felt has more 'give' in it. If you wanted to try making a Luna from your scrap box as a first attempt then I've also got a series of videos on my channel for how to make a Luna by machine from start to finish. Hopefully that will help you too. Have a great day and thank you for your kind comments and feedback. Have a great day! 🥰
Hi Christine, you’re very welcome, I’m pleased you enjoyed the video. Yes, I think the cotton or linen (a stiff one) is a great alternative to the felt. Thank you for watching and happy stitching 😊
Hi Gillian, thank you so much for letting me know that this video has helped you today. I think the ear insertion is one of the trickiest bits of Luna. I don't know if you've had chance to look at my channel yet but there are many more videos on how to sew Luna by machine, plus an increasing number of clothes sewalong videos. I plan on adding more in the coming months. I hope you are pleased wtih your finished Luna. Happy stitching! 🥰
Thank you so much, I was having trouble getting the ears just right. You made it so clear. I will follow your directions for the rest of my bunny doll making. This is for my 5th great grand baby due in May. Blessings and thank you for your help and video 💜
Hi Patricia! I'm so pleased you found my video useful and that you've found the full set of videos for making Luna. Congratulations on your 5th Great Grand Baby and what a lovely gift to make in anticipation. I'm very grateful for your feedback and kind comments. Have a great day 🥰
Hi Bron, I'm so pleased you found it useful. When you sit at home you think everyone knows and that no-one will watch, but it's been a very popular video! I'm so pleased you found it useful. I hope to make more in the future on Luna so stay tuned :) Have a great day :)
I'm so pleased it was useful - there are other Luna construction videos on my channel if you need other help. I hope to add clothes making videos in the coming weeks too. Have a great day!
Hi Marie, I’m really pleased you think my way will make your next Luna a little easier. Quite a few people have said they find the clothes and characters easier to make when they can see them made instead of reading the instructions. I hope you enjoy some of my other Luna videos too. Happy stitching 🥰
Thank you Claire, I’m glad I found your tutorial, I made a Luna and thought it was quite difficult to sew on a machine, I thought about increasing the seam allowance too, I have sown Tilda dolls before and you stitch the outline of the pattern before you cut it out, makes it easier as I’m not so good with hand sewing. Could I ask please if you could do a video on how to sew the noses with embroidery thread, mine looks awful and also how you attach the limbs please. Keep posting, love your attention to detail.
Hi Marilyn, thank you for your comments and feedback. There is a series of eight videos on my channel that goes through each of the steps you've requested for Luna. You can skip through any bits you already know or are comfortable with. I'm pleased you like the detail, it's always difficult to try and gauge how much is needed so I'm pleased you appreciated it. Let me know if you need any other help after watching those videos. Have a great day! 🥰
Thank you so much! I will love trying this with quilters cotton. I have a hard time here in the states of getting the right quality of wool. This is wonderful
Hi Donna, thank you for watching my video. I find it hard to get the right quality of materials here in Southern Spain too. Quilting cotton is a great alternative and I've interfaced my fabric before cutting out the pieces for Luna. Don't forget to increase your seam allowance too. The fabric I've used here is Makower Linen Texture - it's a favourite of mine. Good luck with your Luna :)
You're very welcome - let me know how you get on. I'm going to be making some more Luna videos as they are very popular so keep checking back if they may be of interest to you. 😊
Thank you. I have made all mine on the machine but had to handsew the ears I. This is so easy Thank you You should make more videos about Luna and her friends, maybe how to do the heads on the machine
Thank you, I will. I did wonder about doing more videos but thought I'd see how this one was received first. It's gone down well so I'll see what I can do! :)
Great tip about adding seam allowance, I made a cotton one in the past on my machine for one of my granddaughters and forgot so Luna ended up with very skinny arms and legs lol.
Could you please do a video of how you attach the legs to the body and the body to the head. I'm really struggling with this stage and your videos seem really helpful x
Hi Shara, that's a good suggestion as they are tricky steps. I'll need to get another Luna to that stage but I will make sure I include videos on how to do this soon. Thank you for watching and I'm pleased you are finding the videos useful. x
You are very welcome - I'm pleased it was useful. There are other Luna construction videos on my channel if you need them? I'll be adding clothes making videos in the coming weeks too. Have a great day!
Will you be so kind and show how you make feet for Luna Lapin? Do you hand-stitch the soles, or machine them? Also - for my felt Lunas I have done each leg as one piece, with fold on the back side - it made my work easier. I wander how do you do it? Thank you.
Hi Louisa, I certainly will let you know how I make my feet for Luna. I must admit my very first Luna had one foot bigger than the other but by the second one I'd managed to work out my preferred method. Firstly, I stopped my stitches in the leg seam(s) 1/4 inch away from the base of the foot. This allows the fabric to splay out when you are sewing the sole on. I then chose to tack the foot sole to the leg by hand first, that took away the need for multiple pins and made it easier. I also took it very slowly when stitching on the machine and had the sole fabric to the plate of my machine (and kept it flat), that enabled me to manipulate the leg fabric as I stitched around. I took a few stitches, then left my needle down in the fabric, before I lifted my presser foot, straightened out my fabric for the next few stitches and then put the presser foot down and sewed a little more. I repeated this process again and again until I was around the whole sole. This technique is also known as 'pivoting' and you might be able to find a tutorial on TH-cam before I manage to post mine. I do like your idea of cutting out the leg on the fold too, but I'd put a snip in the fabric 1/4 inch into the leg at the back heel position as this will allow your fabric to splay out and fit around the circle of the sole. I hope this has all made sense and I hope you let me know if this method works for you. It was by far the trickiest part of the whole Luna making process. Have a great day :)
@@ClaireEngland1 Thank you so much for the detailed explanation. It all makes sense. I will let you know when I make my fest fabric Luna rabbit. Appreciate your help.
@@louisarull2275 I'm so pleased it made sense to you - it did in my head but trying to explain it in text was a different matter! I'm sure your next one will be fabulous and I really hope you like my method. Thank you so much Claire what an amazing tip for sewing the head & ears much more simper and quicker too , 😊

Thank you very much. I have already done my hand-stitched felt Lunas, now it is time to make a fabric one. Appreciate your help.

I’ve only just tried this and have to say this method is brilliant. Best ear placement I’ve had. Thank you for sharing x
