  • In this video we sew the ears for Luna. I've started with them as the first part to make as they have a gentle curve and at the end you get a real feel of how your Luna is going to take shape. It also shows how your chosen fabrics are going to look together in your final Luna.
I show you how to pin your fabrics, how to pivot when sewing for easier curves and points, as well as how to clip your curves so that your ear seams will lie flat. You will achieve perfect results every time for Luna's ears if you follow the steps.
One point that may have got lost in my editing is that when you sew the centre top stitching on Luna's ears, I've suggested using a different colour thread for the inside and a different colour thread for the outside. This is an optional tip but looks especially good if there is a big contrast between your chosen fabrics. If your fabrics are very similar, then just keep the same colour thread.
I hope you pick up a few tips for how to sew curves, regardless of your project, that will help you going forwards.
The books containing the patterns for Luna and friends, felt and other supplies plus character kits and supplies are available directly from the designer and the home of Luna at www.coolcrafting.co.uk

Hi Claire I have just found your You Tube tutorials and there is so much helpful information on how to make these lovely bunnies, I will be following you to make some of them and their clothes.
I too live in Spain and wondered if you have found any good mail order company's where I can purchase fabrics and anything to do with doll making over here? This would be a great help for me as I live in a rural area near Almeria. Any suggestions would be a great help. Watching your tutorials is helpful as I can watch and sew with you step by step and stop, go back and watch again it's a great way of learning. Your very inspiring! Many Thanks Annie.

Hi Annie, thank you for watching and for your kind words! I'm so pleased you found me and that you think I can help you on your Luna journey, these little bunnies are addictive. I have found that there are some local quilting shops that have a great selection of fabrics - Mi Casita de Patch in Malaga is great www.micasitadepatch.com/telas-basicas I've been there in person and it's a great shop and are familiar with mail order. I must admit I have so far been more inclined to buy fabrics from the UK and bring them back in my hand luggage, but that's not a long term solution. I've also used Ribes y Casals in Malaga, they too do mail order and have a good selection of fabrics. Otherwise I just search for 'Telas' and the town/city I'm closest too (or further afield) and then go and visit to see what they have. I have to travel much further afield than in the UK to find what I like. It's about the only drawback of being here. Sorry I can't be much use specifically for doll making but hope there is something there to help. I would suggest you watch the videos through first and then go back and sewalong as sometimes I correct something further down the line and you'd be prepared for that, although I do try to note it in the video when I do that. Thank you for watching and make sure your notifications are switched on as there will be more over the coming weeks. Happy stithing! 🥰
